Would love to hear Andy playing the Hooky six string bass. Interesting that the neck pickup is relatively low output. Bernard Sumner had high output DiMarzio Super Distortion pickups in his Shergold, as well as a Fender bridge in place of the cruder original one. The guitar was then played through a rare Vox amp that had a solid state pre and tube power amp absolutely cranked up live.
I have an original Shergold Custom Masqueradar, studio mate has a 12 string version and one of my old band mates has a Meteor. They are still very affordable and great guitars. Just dont get why people would go for the Eastwood if an original could be bought for 500 ish euro's (if lucky).
@@sifelaver Thanks so much! Hopefully in the near future I’ll at least get these out for download as-is. I’ve got about 100 demo tunes to share at this point 👍🏻
Nice playing!! You showed us the guitar could be used for a lot more situations other than just Joy Division! The guitar seems to have a certain brilliance in treble than other dual humbucker based guitars.. Thanks :)
£1400+?! Honestly, there's so many other brands selling things very similar items for a hell of a lot less (Squier, Burns, even Gear4Music has something for mere buttons!) and probably the same quality of materials used. I can agree that aesthetics wise, don't come close to this but in how it functions, no difference at all for a 30" 'Bass VI' You can even occasionally see the original Shergolds sell for less than this does new😅 I like the mods, it definitely opens up more tonal range and sound possibilities than the original but does it warrant the price it sells for? Personally, not even close. Great review though, can't find a single flaw in that and Andy seems a true gent and clearly very talented musician. *chef kiss* 😙🤌🏻 Bravo, maestro!

bit controversial naming the guitar made famous by Sumner hooky, considering they hate each other's guts
So this is what the VB-2W was for! Love the subtle wobble in the tone
Glad I found this channel, always love your playing Andy... Subscribed.
Thanks for finding me! 👊
sounds great! though I wish it was bit more budget friendly but still looks like I'm gonna spoil myself on this sometime in the future
reminds me a bit of my early 80s ibanez ar30. thanks andy!

@@AndyDemos that’s amazing!!! i’d be all over it 😃
Is this a outsourced overseas made guitar under the cover of a Canadian company like the other Eastwood guitars ?

I thought you would play some Joy Division tunes as demos! 😂
Odd that more Joy Division classics didn't make the vid. I do love Andy and his playing.
A bunch of them were already demoed on the ACPG channel. It's nice to hear the tones in a different musical concept as well.
The folk that buy this are very likely buying a Bernie guitar.
