Probably not my best video, but this guide goes over economic management. I go over the basics of what you should do when floating resources, specifically when you float too much wood/gold and so on.

Another economic flaw that everyone makes is overpopulating a resource. This not only causes more micro because of the inevitable idle villagers, but it is also a common example of short-term plans.
One example of this is the sheep at the start of the game in the dark age. If you overpopulate the sheep, you will run out of food before your scout returns. Players will then return with a few sheep at a time, but at the cost of scouting/more sheep. The most optimal approach is to split your villagers on multiple resources sheep, berries, and deer.
Another example is the very common overpopulation on a single tree line. This causes diminishing returns and you will often see additional lumber mills to compensate. This is completely counterproductive. Splitting 18 villagers on 3 different tree lines reduces the effect of diminishing returns, avoids the need to compensate with a lumber mill, and is less vulnerable to raids. You add a watchtower to each tree line and you automatically add protection and more vision across the map.

I am new to this game and im in leaning section and i am stuck in optimize your economy ( choose the economic preset) what does it mean?
If this is the console version, I believe the economic preset auto assigns workers to resources. I am not 100% sure though.
yo blade I have a question. Assuming both castle age, How would you counter a well balanced army of knight spear and archer? 2nd question how would you counter maa horsemen and xbow?
This can be a bit of a broad answer, but generally you can do crossbow/knight or crossbow/knight/mangonel vs knight/spear/archer. MAA/hosremen/xbow would be a similar thing, crossbow/spear and mangonel would be the best composition. But this also comes down to the civ match ups as well to what you will do. For example, as HRE you would go more MAA heavy with siege support or horsemen/landsnake support than what I said earlier.
@@blade55555 nice. I figured every double combo has a counter combo but knight archer spear just seemed to cover all three bases equally and seemingly counterless therefore just throwing your civ's two speciality units at it might be the answer but I like your answer as well

Are you open to coaching? My freind and I are pretty new (about 100 games and this is our first RTS) and we love 2v2 but are stuck at plat 1 and would like to improve.
Ah, nah if I were to do coaching I would charge too much due to the time commitment and I think there are good coaches out there that charge cheaper than I would.

@@huntewaters That is a good question. I do think it would be beneficial for you to join the official age of empires discord if you haven't already. There are lots of diamond+ players in there that would help you for free. You could also ask for help on the aoe4 subreddit. As for specific people, I believe Valdemar/Core offer coaching, though I am sure there are others that I am not thinking about right now.
