I am so proud of myself that I finished this poncho! My yarn was a bit thinner and tricky, but once I got the hang of it, it came together nicely. It was some ridiculously expensive hand dyed yarn I bought on impulse; and now is a lovely shawl. Thank you for the pattern!
I can't get over how beautiful and lovely this shawl is. I will make one for each of my daughters. What a sweet way to let them know how much I love them. Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial with all of us. Much love to you all. ❤️🥰😘
Super fantastic poncho for a super fantastic beautiful daughter Rachel🎉🎉🎉 you are a super teacher❣️ thank you very much dear Anja. A big hug from Italy 🇮🇹💕😘 Rita
Hi Anja 😊 I just wanted to say how amazing this poncho is! So amazing, in fact, I've made 2 of them since January. I had hoped I could post a photo of them to show you. But the friends I have made them for just LOVE them!! Thanks for putting up this video ... and the one to shoe hiw to reduce the neckline too!! All the best to you from New Zealand! 😊😊

Omg that's poncho is perfect, I'm a fan of 70s style so I really wanted to have a poncho in my collection, your lesson was soooo amazing and detailed, that i did it almost without much mistakes, thank you, I have already worn it three times and got many compliments 💘💘
This shawl is so elegant!!! It looks great on Rachel!!! She’s such a beautiful young lady. Will have to try this one soon. Hopefully my teenager would wear it.
Oh Anya Rachel is such a pretty girl .like her mom.lovely poncho..I am at present making ponchos for kiddies for a local charity here in ireland.yours is so lovely thank you Anya.💝💝💝
Rachel looks beautiful. This poncho is the most beautiful one I’ve seen. I’m going to put it on my list. I love it. It drapes beautifully . Thank you for sharing. When I start this I’m putting the tassels on. I’ve seen the twisted tassels but I think the regular tassels would look the best on this beauty. 😍❤️❤️❤️
This poncho was really a challenge for me but I think I’m finally getting it!😅 it’s so beautiful I just have to make it🥰 thank you so much for this tutorial!
Such a beautiful design, ideal for the summer and it suits your daughter so perfectly. Thank you Anja for sharing your lovely work and your excellent guided tutorials. xx
I love this poncho I made it plus size by making the panels 4x4 instead of 3x3. Had to do the reduce for the neckline 4x but it looks great. Thanks so much for this easy to follow tutorial.

It's so beautiful I can't wait for the end result 😍 I haven't even watched the video yet, just saw the first square and starting making them 😅😂 I'll watch the video tomorrow
Your daughter Rachel is beautiful. I love this poncho, it’s amazing. I really want to try and make this. The instructions seem clear and like it’s possible if I take it slow. Thank you.😊
Ty Anja for this work of art.. I am proud to say that, as a beginner and following your detailed instruction, I was able to complete your beautiful pixie bolero! This poncho caught my attention as well and I am wondering if this work can be suggested for beginners too! Greetings from Italy!
This one I would say is for an experienced beginner, if you're confident of your stitches, and follow the directions, take your time and you will be able to make it. Thank you for watching, and making the bolero, good luck @lemontree18, Anja x
You are so patient and explain everything perfectly...I have never seen a poncho like this one and am so excited to make it. All of your projects are beautiful. I would like to buy the pattern but am a little confused as to how to do it when it is not in american money. Will it convert automatically? Thanks
I'm only at the first square, and before I cut my yarn, I'd like to know that my gauge matches yours. Should I look ahead to see if you tell us the size of each of your squares or did I miss that earlier on in the video and need to go back? I'm a fairly tight crocheter and I'm in the USA so using a slightly different yarn from yours, but I'm hoping to make a poncho about the same size as yours, so your square size will help me tremendously to know if I'm on the right course or if I need to go up to a 4mm or perhaps a 4.5. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful design with us and helping us to understand how to make it.
Hello shaykayraycrochet, it's very difficult to measure the squares because so many factors are involved, yarn, tension etc. My guess would be about 5 inches, but of course the yarn you're using might stretch, plus the weight of the fringe, so I suggest you make them and see how they go! Anja x
You explained this so incredibly well that as I'm making it I hear your lovely voice guiding me! You made it very enjoyable to make! Great job!! Some guidance on this gorgeous poncho which i am in the midst of making -- I have never had to weave in ends into a chain and I can't seem to find any guidance on this either. Can you give me any suggestions on how to proceed please? Ex do I need to weave in a longer length or less than into regular stitches? Is there something I should do first to help strengthen or shore up that last little slip stitch that finishes a square is stable enough to hold because if one of those gives out, the whole thing is done for... right? I don't consider myself a beginner but I've not come across this before.
Hello Rose, yes, this can be a problem, finish the last slip stitch by pulling the thread through, this will fasten it off securely, then, you just have to weave the end in as best you can into the chains, I would suggest having a longer thread than normal, and to try and go back on the thread you've just brought through, this will also secure it. Good luck, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks thank you SOOO very much! This will surely help as I start this part today. I have made it in a 4 color change colorway yarn and have waited to see how it all comes together to tie anything off. I also plan to make it in a solid color. SOOOO lovely of a design!!! I may even try one in velvet. Lol!💜💜💜
@@OpheliaTalks sorry I got sidetracked.Did you use the magic ring? And I did so as to have a smaller center hole.Absolutely love the pattern. Again ThankYou 😜

Hi, your poncho is so beautiful!!! I would like to make one for me but I'm French and I don't know the yarn you use. So, if it possible, I would like to know the size of one panel to see how I can adjust the gauge or the number of squares? Thank you very much for this!
66ninaa, the yarn is a DK which is a 3 weight yarn, light worsted. You make it to your size, so just use the yarn you want and make as many squares as you need! Thank you, Anja x
Thank you for a really beautiful poncho, and I am looking forward to getting started on mine. I cannot find your video where you explain how to reduce the neck opening, can you help me here? 😊
This is so exquisite...i would love to make one of these. I think that the look books you make give me the extra motivation because i know exactly how it will look and how to style this beautiful poncho. May i please know the approximate size of each square. Thank you❤
I am French and I speak juste little English.. But I LOOOOVE this flower square, it's beautiful splendid. I will try to realize this beauty just looking your demonstration. Is it possible to have a pattern in French? Great thanks for you💐
I'm sorry I don't write patterns in anything but English, the videos have subtitles available, if you click the cog on the bottom right of the video, then choose subtitles, you can choose your language, l hope this helps. Thank you, Anja x
Hi, just wondering if it's best to wait for the next video to correct the neckline or make it anyway? Also can you adjust the panels (make them smaller) so they hang over the shoulders better? Sorry for so many questions❤ The pattern is absolutely gorgeous and a perfect addition to any outfit ,TIA💓
Absolutely stunning can't wait to make it. Could i use acrylic yarn i struggle crocheting with cotton and really want to make this. Also beautifully modelled !!
Yes Chetnamistry, you can make it in whatever you wish really, cotton just has a lovely drape, Wendy's Cotton Love is an acrylic/cotton mix and it's lovely to work with!! Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks Hello Anja, I am still working on the other project with the Hexagon pattern of yours and then the Miss Potter cardigan is the next plan ... and then I will make the flower Poncho, hahaha you know how it goes, a lot of planning and a lot crochet. but I think you are a great teacher, I learn a lot from your You Tube videos. Kind regards from the Netherlands Natasja ;-)
Hi! Thanka for sharing this.. I'd like to try this one though my yarn is thinner (I use 2.5 hook) so I 'll probably need more squarea per panel. May I know where I can find the video for reducing the neckline? Thank you!
It's a beautiful shawl showcased by a stunning young lady. Anja if I were to use the Wendy Cotton yarn how many balls will I need?! I find the King cole quite weighty xx
The size is about a medium, but it's quite big, it's impossible really to put a sizing on a poncho, I suggest you make some squares and see how big it comes up, lay it out, then if necessary you can do more squares. Hope this helps Katia, thank you, Anja x
This is just an enjoyment watching, but just watching won't make it for me right?😊 When you say dk yarn is that mean 4 weight? Still learning the yarns used for items. Thanks for sharing. Your daughter is stunning❤❤❤
Hi I really like this pattern. I made the body and added the trelis and it’s still a little short. How would you extend the poncho so it’s longer? Thank you
Love this poncho shame I'm on clear the stash and the only cotton type I have is a whirl ill put it on my to do list for after I've cleared my stash lol
Hi all. I’m quite new to this but this is such an easy video to follow. However, can anyone tell me how many panels of 9 I need please? I’ve probably missed it! Thank you
I show you at the end of the tutorial how to construct your poncho, with the four panels of 9! Good luck, don’t forget we have a Facebook group if you would like to show off your progress/creation, or even if you have any problems. It’s a great, friendly community….facebook.com/groups/389613388330327 Anja x
Your centers are much tighter and smaller than mine? Did you mention closing them up when weaving in ends? I am visually impaired and sometimes miss visual clues. I also tend to skip around, via time stamps, because of lows in energy and attention deficiency. I did not purchase the pattern, because I can’t read a written pattern. So far, Things are looking good, but my flower centers are huge, compared to yours. Thank you for another lovely wearable. Blessings 🕊💕🕯😇🙏🏻💚
Hi Irene, did you check your tension, you might have needed a bigger hook for the lacy effect, it might well stretch when you attach the tassels! Thanks, Anja x
l_OVE_, if you know the basics of crochet, you should be able to make this, l wouldn't say for the very beginner, it's not a first item project, thing to do is try it!! Good luck, Anja x

It's a beautiful shawl showcased by a stunning young lady. Anja if I were to use the Wendy Cotton yarn how many balls will I need?! I find the King cole quite weighty xx
Hi Shamababes1, Cottonsoft is 210 m and Wendy Cotton Love is 330 m, so you will need less balls!! I'm sure you can work it out, Anja x
I'm a fan of this beautiful poncho ❤️... I would like to crochet this for myself, but what size is this?
The size is about a medium, but it's quite big, it's impossible really to put a sizing on a poncho, I suggest you make some squares and see how big it comes up, lay it out, then if necessary you can do more squares. Hope this helps Katia, thank you, Anja x
The poncho turned out very nice... I made it 4x4. At the back I put a noose in it to fall less off my shoulders. (sorry I can't share pictures )
This is just an enjoyment watching, but just watching won't make it for me right?😊 When you say dk yarn is that mean 4 weight? Still learning the yarns used for items. Thanks for sharing. Your daughter is stunning❤❤❤
Hi Blkrose5175, no, DK is a 3 weight yarn, light worsted. I hope this helps you, Anja x
Belíssimo!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤❤❤❤⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️
Thank you Silvia, hope you enjoy making this project, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks ,sorry...mas posso chamá- la de Anja? Esse é o seu nome ou um apelido carinhoso? 🫶😉😘
Hi I really like this pattern. I made the body and added the trelis and it’s still a little short. How would you extend the poncho so it’s longer? Thank you
Add a longer fringe maybe, or another round of squares, depends on how much yarn you have lyricsornah9882!
Thank you, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalksokay I will try that thank you❤
MAGNIFIQUE TOUT MES FELICITATION
fernandehaby6656, thank you so much, Anja x

Love this poncho shame I'm on clear the stash and the only cotton type I have is a whirl ill put it on my to do list for after I've cleared my stash lol
Well, it could be done in a whirl, would be very pretty I bet, thank you for watching samantha, Anja x
Love it 😍
MashAllah beautiful ❤️ How much yarn used? I really want to try ..
I tell you at the very beginning of the tutorial, please rewatch and good luck, Anja x
Thank you!! I’m nearly finished and it’s just beautiful! I’ve signed up to join the Facebook group so I can show it off.
Perhaps chaining 8 to start is too much if you do your chains loosely, try chaining 6 perhaps, Anja x
Hi anya, im making this poncho for my moms birthday, i did all the peaces and its seems very small, will it stretch when i put the tosells on it?
Hi Irene, did you check your tension, you might have needed a bigger hook for the lacy effect, it might well stretch when you attach the tassels! Thanks, Anja x
Ok thanks so much❤
i actually didn't put tension in it, and i used a bigger hook than yours, can i maybe add more rows around the square after combining the 9 squers?
Yes you could try that Irene, good luck, Anja x
❤❤❤
Hello :) Is this easy for beginners?
l_OVE_, if you know the basics of crochet, you should be able to make this, l wouldn't say for the very beginner, it's not a first item project, thing to do is try it!! Good luck, Anja x
