Found this video whenever it first came out and was what helped me decide I wanted to make leather goods. Thank you for helping me find an art form that I have enjoyed for several years now.
Hello Hello From Canada!!! Great job on those beautiful masks. One of the most important qualities of being a craftsman is not being afraid to try something different and you created two totally different pieces of art. I'm new to your channel, but I can't wait to see what I find next. Keep up the awesome content and stay healthy and happy.
The best mask I made . I first made a plaster cast of my head and the head of who ever else wanted a mask. We than formed the leather to the plaster cast. This made each mask custom to each person in my family it work amazingly and was a great family project.
@@ezequielromero6275 we spray our faces with pam cooking spray and than just used plaster of Paris the hardest part was the nose. Some people put straws in their nose but I didnt like that. So i left opening around each nastrail and filled the holes in after i took the cast off. Make sure you really get you eye lashes and eye brows really well grease or oiled because the plaster sticks to them. I pulled most mine out on the learning curve lol. If was fun good luck.
Thank you for all of the support and comments. We have created a template for the pattern and loaded it our website. PDF format. Thank you for the support. The proceeds help fund our equipment and travels to bring these videos. A sheath video will be loaded soon and also the pattern for the other mask we made in the "halloween" video. fellowmakers.com/collections/templates
I love everything about this video I usually skip through the real tedious steps and stuff and get to the painting and end of the video but the choice of background music made me want to watch every second😄👍🏾 Keep up the amazing work bro I love it🔥🔥🔥
I've watched this video in full and for what reason I will never know. I can see my older brother being the humungous dork he is wearing one of these on his harley to "keep his face warm and look Crazy to freak people out" Rob if you see this video you would be the coolest looking dork in the lower 48 for sure!
sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a method to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the login password. I love any tips you can give me.
Those masks look awesome, seems very simple to do.. they would make awesome protective masks for the current situation as long as filters are added to them.
I just use a heat gun or strap the leather to a plastic face I found in a craft store, to form and dry . Faster than the stove, I believe. Oh, the edger is also known as a beveler and looks very professional if you bevel each side and then burnish the edges.
The three mask we made are available to purchase on our website now. fellowmakers.com/collections/masks Grab one if you like. These are the only ones that we have available and might be making more soon.
make some kind of a pocket and cut a filter out of a coffee machine filter, keep it double or just one layer, change it every now and then, those are easy to come by and quite cheap i think, the pocket can be made from FELT glued on the inside over mouth/nose area
Kind of like kabuki masks, I like it. I want one and I can just add a few layers of cloth behind to use as plague face cover. If I have to cover my face it might as well look epic. I should look into this.
I can't afford to have more hobbies than I do atm but this is some nice craftsmanship. Nor do I have the time for more! Awesome work, I have to try it myself! Used to make masks with epoxy and paper :)
I've watched this video a few times now. . 7 times actally. The video is long but it's necessary to show beginning to end diys. The process. So thank you for having a kind soft voice for us to listen to whole we soak in the lesson. I didn't have a stencil or template, no printer to print one, top lazy to find a copy machine, so I measured by eye the size of yur hands in comparison to the mask and the width of my face I ended up drawing templates of my own, just by watching your diy. I found an old leather jacket that I wasn't going to wear from the 80s I swear it's kinda hidious but I knew it was real leather, it even has the lining that I am going to add back on to the pieces I cut from the jacket so it is soft against the face right? Lol. Any way I am going go attempt 2 masks right now have the pieces cut out and awaiting my detail lines before I can start shaping. I'm excited. Thanks again this is a great video you're so soft spoken and a great artist. Do you ever get that rush of feelings almost like giddiness when a project turns bad ass? I sure do. I love it, I'm addicted to art. I admit I have an art problem. I spread this addiction to my friends who now get the art itch.. "MUST.. DO.. ART.. BLAHHH.!"
Not so sure about the spray paint on something you are going to wear where you breathe. Checked any of the ingredients or inhalation warnings on those paints? I hand paint everything using Liquitex artist latex paints (certified non-toxic and water soluble), with a layer of gesso underneath, which acts to stiffen the leather substantially while maintaining flexibility because it's still a latex. Great pattern and concept! I'm off to give it a try.

Wow, that's a lot of water! I was taught you wet the piece and leave it until the colour is almost back to normal. If it's too wet, the impressions are not as good as the leather is wet enough to spring back.
fantastic mask. did it take long to master the swivel knife ? how thick was the leather you used and approx size for mask?. i have all the leather craft tools so i might give this a go they are both great masks but i liked the first one anyway all the very best during this lockdown from co durham uk .....
How much for a leather skull mask so I can wear over my main one 😷? If you wouldn't mind including all the items used and tools required for this build I'd greatly appreciate it because I'm interested in trying to make one for myself as a hobby but don't know all the tools needed or where you'd recommend I buy them from.
Hello! I made one of these with your pattern and it was great, but I'm not sure how to add straps. Do you have any instructions for that part available? Thanks for the great project!
We call it an edge beveler in the U.S. just so you know but I forgot what it was called at first when I got the tool it wasn’t until I saw another leather making video online that I even knew what it was called
LOL, I just kind of found this video, started watching it and the music under the video is some kind of weird adaptation of a very famous Hungarian folk song. Even made a bit of a famous song worldwide by Zoli Teglas with Ignite. ( Can be found as "Ignite - A place called home" or "Téglás Zoli: A csitári hegyek alatt" on UA-cam)

now that using home made face masks is encouraged across Europe, I might as well look savage doing it
Exactly
Theres a guy who made a facehugger you can wear over your mask, might want to check out that one too
The tool you're using is a "beveller" bevel tool, graded superfine/fine/1/2/3 looks like a #1 @around 7 mins

I love the maroon one. I love both, but I'm partial to that shade of red.
I'm envious of your skill.
Thanks for this bud. Fellow S.A leatherworker here. The "edger" is an edge beveler btw.

Very nice. Your work has inspired me and I think I'll try this here in a little bit. Wonderful quality 👌👍👏 great job

Leather pre cut kits and some finished mask were just loaded to the website! get them while you can and in time for HALLOWEEN! www.fellowmakers.com
I know you said keep oven at lowest heat setting. I'd like to know what temp you actually use. Ovens vary. Thank you
Now, to just turn this into a Corona-Mask instead of a leather one.
just make a pocket on the inside then use a changeable black filter.
Dez7726 is on track, use this mask instead of a cloth cover, cloth masks are jus holders for filters.

A master piece mask for the pandamic but would be better if the description of the masks is given in details.... ☺☺
