I actually love your outlook especially when you say "it's the best we've got" honestly I'd imagine in hand this looks class. Lots of people are whining about the attack of the clones Anakin and yeah I can see differences from him to the prototype but they're always gonna look different.
Cheers man! I can appreciate collectors complaining, they have their gripes with the figures which is understandable, but I just never feel the need to nitpick or be negative. Life's too short so I try to see the best in every figure!

I don’t think the head sculpt would fool anyone into thinking it was a photo of SLJ but I think it’s still really good. I wish the robes had more wires but I’m going to pose mine Clone Wars style so it’s ok by me.

I think that the headsculpt is actually very flattering and even though it's not a 100% accurate likeness of Samuel Jackson per se, it is a very good looking representation of a Clone Wars/Live action Mace Windu 👍 Let's be honest, Jackson isn't necessarily a youthful lad, but I think that this figure did him and the character justice 😉 Great video 👍 🎉

Have this on pre-order, and agree, think this will be sought after as it’s selling out in a lot of places. There’s room for improvement in the sculpt, but I definitely think it’s a case of - when in hand, it looks so much better. It’s based on when Samuel Jackson looked a lot younger, so it does look different to how he looks now. Will be interesting to see if he gets re-released with rolling eyes at some point, but can’t see that being for several years, if at all. Not sure how they could do that successfully with a bald head…. Anyhow, congrats on the pick-up. Hopefully your wallet can take a bit of a breather now mate? It’s certainly been an expensive time for you lately lol!!
Yes that’s a great point SLJ was a lot younger in AOTC and I do think that’s reflected in the sculpt! They could maybe have another go but like you say it would be years away. And may not even happen because there’d be little to warrant a 2.0 order than purely the head sculpt really. Haha yeah the wallet has taken a bit of a battering this month and it’s looking forward to a week or two off!! 😅🤣 That’s for watching David! 🙌🏻
The head sculpt is really angle-reliant 😂because after some great poses you done with the sculpt in certain angles really does make the sculpt look a lot like Samuel l Jackson which now I make me wanna buy it right away 🤣🤣( the blogger ones that ht release didn’t do the sculpt justice 😢)

Its about the shots that were taken in some it looks good its all about lighting you could make a figure that has a incredible head sculpt look bad. When it comes to our eyes 4k,8k does not come close looks good but our eyes are still better. P.S great job

The sideshow 1/4 Premium format sculpt seems to be a much better likeness, I'm gonna cancel this HT preorder, personally I'm really dissatisfied with the sculpt, its a clear miss. That being said, if you're happy with it, I'm happy for you. thanks for the vid.

Great unboxing, Chris. He looks great. This is one figure that I've been anticipating the most. Like Padme' he was too long in coming. I would be worried about leaving the clone armor on too long, as it would permanently wrinkle the sleeves. I hope we get more Jedi masters after this.
Yes definitely took a while to finally get this one in! You are correct the sleeves would crease up really badly. What you're supposed to do tho is remove the under-sleeve arm wrappings, you can then fold the sleeve and neatly put the armour over the sleeve. This will prevent it from creasing but it does take some work to sort it! 💯 agree would love to see more Jedi masters! Can you imagine all them from the council chamber getting released!! Dude I've been waiting for this one for ages! I agree, the head sculpt is much better than I expected, totally puzzled why he's taller than qui gon though, pretty sure Liam neeson is like 6'4" and Sam Jackson is like 6'. Really looking forward to getting this one and posing him with kitt fisto and qui gon. My wife was watching with me and said she couldn't see the true colours of the skin and clothes because of the purple light. I think it would be easier to see if you had the dramatic lighting in the turntable 360 section and normal lights for bulk of the video, just so people can see the accurate colours of the figure, Just a suggestion. Great video as always dude! 👍🏻
Agreed, I thought the head sculpt turned out way better than I was expecting. And yes I was definitely expecting Qui-Gon to be taller! Maybe he was slightly undersized and there will be a 2.0 at some point! Thanks for the feedback on the lighting. I was hoping for a more subtle purple aesthetic to tie in with the famous lightsaber colour, it looked ok on camera but the final result came out way too saturated and I didn’t have the time to go back and reshoot it. @@TK421Collectibles in a way I hope they don't do a 2.0 because I want to keep my original 🤣 If that's the effect you want, what might work better for you is to put the light behind the table facing up at your cabinets. That way your figure will be lit in white light and your backdrop will be highlighted in colour. What was the other thing that bothered you about the video?
Dude I totally agree, I'm not a fan of 2.0's at all tbh. There are enough other characters or different variants of the same character they could produce without having to rehash what's already been released! Yeah good point about the backdrop lighting, that would have made more sense. Don't worry about the other issues, there's always stuff I don't like or could have done better in *every* video!! 😅 I just try to improve in the next one 👍🏻
@@TK421Collectibles Yeah there's a lot or rehashing and repainting at the moment, clogs up resources for characters people don't have. I wouldn't worry about it, you do a good job and it's not like a blockbuster movie or anything, it doesn't need to be perfect.
Deffo better than the blogger pics - in video it looks like a different headsculpt. I think it’s another figure that’s about £50 overpriced: robes, a few simple accessories, standard base… not even a hairsculpt! 😉 But it’s Mace so mine is on its way!

I was a little bit critical of it when first seeing the photos but it looks miles better here. I still don't think it's bang-on, (especially the angle at 4:33), and I think the Captain America: The Winter Soldier Nick Fury was slightly better, but yeah, it's clearly Samuel L. Jackson and the sculpt quality and tailoring are fantastic! Has it got 'Bad Mother etc.' engraved on the lightsaber hilt? 🤣🤣
Must admit the Nick Fury sculpt does look very good! But yeah overall I'm loving this figure! Haha yeah if you look really closely you can see mofo on the lightsaber 🤣 Thanks for watching mate 🙌🏻
Nice review as always & cool looking figure. You have to give it to Hot Toys, they have some really talented employees. Just a bit of video feedback...is it possible to stop using the "purple" light. It's a bit distracting & takes away from the detail & true color of the figure.

This is one video I was looking forward to. I have mine coming soon, and looking at your review am glad to be getting him. It's all about having him in hand ( like most figures to appreciate him more). But I like the look for him. As for the head sculpt I think why lots of people are not liking it, its because hot toys did a couple of Nick Fury and they got it spot on. Lets remember Samuel L Jackson is not young and this head sculpt looks younger than he was in the film. Where with Nick Fury they did get it more or less spot on. But saying all that I still think hes a cool looking figure. I'll probably still get a custom lightsaber for him as am still not convinced the ones they supply. This will be a gem. They‘ve tricked everybody with the headsculpt. It’s like an 8,5/10. The prototype was a 5/10.

Really looking forward to getting this one and posing him with kitt fisto and qui gon. My wife was watching with me and said she couldn't see the true colours of the skin and clothes because of the purple light. I think it would be easier to see if you had the dramatic lighting in the turntable 360 section and normal lights for bulk of the video, just so people can see the accurate colours of the figure, Just a suggestion. Agreed, I thought the head sculpt turned out way better than I was expecting. And yes I was definitely expecting Qui-Gon to be taller! Maybe he was slightly undersized and there will be a 2.0 at some point!
Thanks for the feedback on the lighting. I was hoping for a more subtle purple aesthetic to tie in with the famous lightsaber colour, it looked ok on camera but the final result came out way too saturated and I didn’t have the time to go back and reshoot it. If that's the effect you want, what might work better for you is to put the light behind the table facing up at your cabinets. That way your figure will be lit in white light and your backdrop will be highlighted in colour. What was the other thing that bothered you about the video?
Dude I totally agree, I'm not a fan of 2.0's at all tbh. There are enough other characters or different variants of the same character they could produce without having to rehash what's already been released!
Yeah good point about the backdrop lighting, that would have made more sense. Don't worry about the other issues, there's always stuff I don't like or could have done better in *every* video!! 😅 I just try to improve in the next one 👍🏻
@@TK421Collectibles Yeah there's a lot or rehashing and repainting at the moment, clogs up resources for characters people don't have.
I wouldn't worry about it, you do a good job and it's not like a blockbuster movie or anything, it doesn't need to be perfect.
Deffo better than the blogger pics - in video it looks like a different headsculpt.
I think it’s another figure that’s about £50 overpriced: robes, a few simple accessories, standard base… not even a hairsculpt! 😉 But it’s Mace so mine is on its way!

Have been on the fence about this figure but ultimately decided to pass on him. Headsculpt is 80% there and would have been great to have separate rolling eyes especially but oh well…great review regardless

I was a little bit critical of it when first seeing the photos but it looks miles better here. I still don't think it's bang-on, (especially the angle at 4:33), and I think the Captain America: The Winter Soldier Nick Fury was slightly better, but yeah, it's clearly Samuel L. Jackson and the sculpt quality and tailoring are fantastic!
Has it got 'Bad Mother etc.' engraved on the lightsaber hilt? 🤣🤣
Must admit the Nick Fury sculpt does look very good! But yeah overall I'm loving this figure!

Nice review as always & cool looking figure. You have to give it to Hot Toys, they have some really talented employees. Just a bit of video feedback...is it possible to stop using the "purple" light. It's a bit distracting & takes away from the detail & true color of the figure.
Yes Hot Toys have some fantastic artists, painters, sculptors etc You can tell a lot of work goes into these figures! And thanks for the feedback on the lighting. Always trying out new things but I agree the purple light is a bit of a miss 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and dropping a comment 👊🏻
The Nick Fury headsculpt is a better likeness.

This is one video I was looking forward to. I have mine coming soon, and looking at your review am glad to be getting him. It's all about having him in hand ( like most figures to appreciate him more). But I like the look for him. As for the head sculpt I think why lots of people are not liking it, its because hot toys did a couple of Nick Fury and they got it spot on. Lets remember Samuel L Jackson is not young and this head sculpt looks younger than he was in the film. Where with Nick Fury they did get it more or less spot on.
But saying all that I still think hes a cool looking figure. I'll probably still get a custom lightsaber for him as am still not convinced the ones they supply.
