Need to add that current football players do press a lot than they used to be.

But while there's nobody press the ball, the defenders still just make a long pass somehow 😂

  • @willm7994
    @willm7994 День тому

Back in the day outfield players were very skilled you just got the ball to them and magic happened the strikers where amazing too , you had footballers that were all great on the ball , now you have athletes that can kick a ball , that’s why guys like Salah and mbappe seem out of this world. In the 90s and 2000s the pitch was not as good so you depended on skill now you depend on running and that’s why guys slow down 1-1 because they can’t beat the defenders

yep... i miss the old styles of play that most teams had. nothing wrong with keeping the ball on the ground, all for that, but i actually like to see wingers taking people on and also crossing the ball on their natural side with their natural foot. actual strikers who did nothing more but their job, scoring goals. nowadays, it feels like every player does the same thing, no matter what position theyre in. no one has any unique skills, tricks etc that makes them stand out from other players. individualism in football is sadly dead. the 2000s were the best decade for football in my opinion... hoofball was starting to die out but tikitaka hadn't yet poisoned the game. football was perfect back then.

@suppbruhh8671 the idiocy that you commited in your reply is astronomical. The names that you took are from different gens. Okocha was from 90s-00s, Dinho is from 00s and neymar is of 10s.
Zidane? We had iniesta, pedro, silva and ozil that are equal if not better in just the terms of dribbling not overall player.
If i had to compile 10s and 20s i could make an equally impressive dribblers list with messi, neymar, nani, di maria, iniesta, taraabt, benarfa, sanchez, zaha, quaresma, oscar, hazard, brahimi, bollasie, mousa dembele, isco, ozil, payet, coutinho, sharaawy, pedro, ribery, robben and these are the ones from top of my mind, cant imagine how many i wouldve missed

@suppbruhh8671 and dribblers like Okocha and Dinho were generational dribblers of their time, they are one of the goat skillers. Its like saying football before Messi was shite because no one won 6gboots, regular league gboots or scored 91goals in a year, played about 20years consistently and won 8 b'dors which is more than many legends' peak career.
Goats of a time are extraordinary talents that occur once in decades. The generation is marked by average players vs average.
And how many of these people in the comment saw jay jay okocha regularly to deem if he was as efficient as dribblers of now?
Highlights are a compilation of the best moments in the span of years of a players career. It doesnt reflect how a player actually played the whole 90 minutes of a game week in week out.
At the end of their career, vini would probably have equally skillful highlight compilations as anyone else.

@@Rivane84 i actually find your approach wrong. Offside not only make it difficult for defenders but actually make people depend on dribbling more than just making well timed runs.
From mid 90s to 2020s, opta along with understat (after 2008) and fbref (after 2013) have shown that more and more players now depend on 1v1s and one-twos than making in behind runs this is another reason why throughballs arent a relevant part of the game and have been replaced by tactical systems.
Var just makes rules applicable even through minute details which a normal human might miss and has nothing to do with making it easy or difficilt for defenders. It favours a lot of defenders too (for instance go and see barca's highline, their defence forces you to actually dribble them and bypass otherwise you would be caught offside 9/10 times)
I would agree that defenders now have to be less physical and have to take care to not get easy fouls but that has made football teams be more tactically sound to stop players with great dribbling. Best example is liverpool vs barca 2nd leg 2019. Go and watch how Jurgen Klopp made all of their defenders to tactically close all passing lanes and cut off Messi's play.
You are just trying to show one side of the coin, but every coin has two of them.

      A. I. Developers are in the chat noticing the debate with a view to developing exciting football to replace dull modern football and you can't tell. They will make a mint and make FIFA look like dirt.

Grass always used to be greener. But the real difference is now, when they show close-up, I think 'director, damn, switch to normal, I can watch winger's techniques later, now I just wanna see if anyone is open in the penalty area'
