I did those hills in a single day, had a shower when returning to my van at Corrie Hallie and enjoyed three pints in fbi in Ullapool before closing time.

This was up there with one my favourite days in the Munro’s… cycling in is a great idea, save carrying loads of gear, I wish I’d thought of it… I think I was at my lowest ebb in the whole challenge, walking back to car, in the dark, very late at night dehydrated and fatigued…. The challenge was catching up with me at this point!!! Fantastic memories

Well done Nick. You have had a succession of fairly long days, so that would have been well outside your comfort zone particularly after a midgy night - you need to get some mosquito coils if you are going to camp in that tent from June to October - they burn slowly, not good for the lungs I am sure but they would have disposed of the midges that got into your tent. Great pity that the cloud came down on A' Mhaigdhean, the remotest of all Munros with arguably the best view looking north west. You didn't highlight the changes in the rock which showed so clearly in your video. As you descended Mullach Choire Mhic Fhearchair you suddenly left the hard rough pointed white quarzite (beware hills named "BAN") and hit the red Torridoinan sandstone which is altogether much more pleasant underfoot. You'll meet this contrast again on An Teallach and in Torridon.

I must admit I hadn’t noticed… although I was rather fatigued… I’m looking forward to sitting down and watching my UA-cam clips myself once I get home… it will be very interesting for me to recap… I’ll definitely look out for this!

      That’s a great question… I’ve tried several different boots…
I had been walking in Salomon Quest prior to this challenge.. which were very comfortable however I felt the grip was poor, and I often found myself slipping..
I then bought some Scarpa Ribelle light, when training for this challenge, I found them to leak through the tongue and they made my toes ache after long walks..
So looking for more a more comfortable boot I ended up with some Salewa Mountain trainer boots, I bought two pairs as I thought they were great, comfortable and grippy. I wore them on alternate days to always have a dry pair, alas they wore out very quickly and probably 120 Munro’s into the challenge, both pairs were leaking and cracked in places…
This left me with a dilemma, after a lot of investigation, i found Altberg Tethera… they have been amazing, they are comfortable, very grippy but more importantly extremely robust.. I walked nearly all the Wainwright’s and over i40 Munro’s, and they are still going strong, waterproof and good grip. I bought two pairs to wear on alternate days. Obviously I look after them using the wax (Gris) regularly. I am am considering starting the Corbetts, and I am confident these boots will outlast that challenge as well!!
Sorry for the long reply, but I hope it helps?

Hello! I just wondered which book / source you were using for the routes? Many thanks!

      Hi Heather
The Wainwright’s I’ve been pretty much making the routes up myself… I’ve made some mistakes and would definitely do things differently on a few routes … but on the whole I’m happy
The Munro’s however , I’ve got four different books … I found them really good to give me an idea about best starting points, parking etc…. I have found that as I progress I’m constantly looking to see if I can link Munro neighbours in to my walks, as the guide books are great at offering one day walks, but often miss out on the possibilities of other Munro’s close by…
The main guide book I used is the one by Paul and Helen Webster…. I ended up with others looking for alternatives because of my previous point.
Also… when I started this challenge last July , I was relatively new to Fell walking… I am now finding that I am plotting the remaining Munro’s using my own interpretation of the various guides.
I hope your enjoying my videos?

Are these routes available anywhere to download and use?
Like OS maps app or Strava?
    Cheers

      Hi
I used Strava on every walk/ route but this was over a year ago … so not sure if it’s visible now… I also plotted every route on O/S maps … I think you could view them there… I also put a website together , as I thought it was easier to catch the routes I did…. Although I’m not sure website was that popular?? It was quite a busy 12 months… extremely satisfying thought!
