I think it's important to realize a lot of World Trigger's momentum was lost due to the sudden hiatus of the mangaka, brought upon due to physical health issues; specifically: cervical spondylosis. He needed to take a 2 year hiatus, and upon return, has his workload reduced from a chapter every week, to one or two chapters a month, depending on his current condition. Hence why he was moved to a different magazine. There's another universe where Ashihara wouldn't be injured, and we'd be beyond chapter 400 by now, instead of 217 as of this month.
That’s a really good point. I heard a little bit about Ashihara’s health issues but I didn’t know much about it and I should have done more research on that for this video so I could have mentioned that
Similar to d gray man, increadable good story, plot twists that floored me, which is rare, but also kind of a total mess in the releases due to the mangakas health. In-between her longest hiatus the appearance of two characters changed a lot and the progress is slow as hell.
World Trigger is fantastic. For me, it’s the most intricate and detailed when it comes to battle strategies and creative fight choreography. It’s so refreshing to have a shounen that does not rely on “friendship” or other out of no where power ups. When tamakoama-2 gets points or a win in the rank wars, it’s so much more satisfying bc we see that they actually earned it through the characters own ingenuity & teamwork. Daisuke Ashihara does a annoying overconfident characters really well. They usually a background or smaller role characters but even in tiny roles ashihara makes an impression w/them. Someone else mentioned it but yeah the large hiatus plus now being monthly (with occasional 1 month hiatuses) hinder the more visible or frequent discussion unfortunately. Usually is the case with monthly series, I’m also a big fan of twin star exorcists & a few other monthly series but these series just don’t get much discourse which sucks.
I totally agree the battles are done really well and it’s interesting seeing each squad come up with different strategies depending on their opponents. Also that makes sense with the hiatus that not as many people talk about the series
One of my favourite series ever! I have the manga collected up to date and it makes me happy a youtube I just started to watch has covered World Trigger!! Subed!
World Trigger = E-Sports The Anime. I also like how you can see all these (mostly) hisghschoolers can separate their personal life and professional life. Everyone are friends outside of the rank wars, and this close relationships actually make their clash more exciting. Border's staff and higher ups are also not boring, they have their own personality, and Ashihara has this knack of writing characters and make them feel like they're actually "real" people, mangafied (especially with the current manga arc). It also has one of the most clever and well-designed power systems ever. Anime or manga? The season 1 of the anime is totally avoidable (ESPECIALLY THE FILLER ARC I HATE THAT SO MUCH) and manga is absolutely more recommended, but World Trigger anime has good OSTs and voice castings, both Japanese and English dub (I watched both). The anime also has this annoying-ish way to end their episode with cliffhangers, making you click next episode furiously. I can proudly say that this series is my absolute favorite of all time.
I kind of wish you talked about what made World Trigger amazing, but I think that others had already talked about that in comments. But to me, it felt like this video was just an explanation on the rules of the world (trigger... heh) and that the first season was mediocre and really rough and the next two seasons were more in line with amazing Shonen Jump anime. But outside of the mentions of Solo wars and Ranked wars, there wasn't much explanation on how those two huge chunks of the series (and also the invasion battles) keeps people saying that this series is amazing. Like there was no talk about how Solo Wars was to explore the skill level of the other characters, like Yuma not being labeled as a top attacker, but rather an attacker that can tango pretty well with the other big-league names for a while. There was also no talk about how Ranked Wars had grounded battles that weren't just boiled down to "beat the shit out of each other until one loses" or "This team won because of stupid large Trion amounts". All characters in their Trion bodies are fighting in a situation like modern battles, quick paced and where being damaged could make or break your role in the current strategy. And speaking of the strategy, well, what more is there to say? The strategy in the series is not just "this is the battle plan, stick to it and that's that", it's "this is our general game plan, our long-term plan, and the tools we have in case something unexpected happens". Don't tell me you weren't reacting just like the commentators and audience who were watching the final match did when the biggest brain bait n switch happened.
I actually agree with you, I could have done a better job talking about all the things that make world trigger amazing and I wish I did but I’ll try to keep that in mind in future videos to not just dump a bunch of information on the viewer without also talking anoint the great things a series does
nice video but there is one thing that i have to say S rank aren't the best of the best they are people with black triggers a stronger version of a trigger that is really powerfull it is said that one Black trigger can be an major diffrence in a full scale war

Even the antagonist are treated like real people like E******** (spoilers) and i really love moments like this honestly.

Thank you!
I lime this anime and find it sad not being talked about as much even though its really cool
World trigger is literally so good, the fight scenes are well animated.
