    Before you were sponsored by colourmart, I placed my first order with them and there was a place for an email address for who referred you, so I put in your business email and they were like "we don't have that on file, any other details that could direct us to the person?" Uh... she's a youtuber in California? I was less than helpful, lol. Glad to see they have an option for which youtuber sent them there now.

    Quintessential knitter's dilemma: "I always forget that knits stretch." what a mood. Lovely dress! What a beautiful yarn, and a longer skirt will just keep you warmer for the winter.

    I love it! I am learning about how to use the knitting machines I have but have yet to actually use them because I do not have a room set up, or a table to set them on, but I have everything else I could possibly need to get started, one 8 button brother and a Singer 700 with ribber and all sorts of carriages and things I have no idea what they all do lol all were gifted to me. I am almost 60 and only now picking up this hobby. hehe Old dog New Tricks! Thank you for all you share ♥

    For oiled yarn I do a first wash in the sink with Dawn to completely remove the oil, rinse until the water runs clear, then wash with a woolen wash like Eucalan, Soap or Woolite without rinsing (these products are low sudsing and for washing woolens, not for scouring oil used in machine knitting yarns). You can use circular knitting to do a "hung hem". It is a lot easier to transfer the ribber bed needles to the main bed doubling up stitches then carry on knitting just on the main bed. I think it gives a flatter hem as well. Your finishing is really impeccable and I really love the final knit!

    Watching you engineer that was fascinating. The skirt is particularly lovely. ❤

    This dress came out SO. CUTE!! I can also imagine how soft and warm it must be to wear. And the unintentional stretched length ended up at a great spot, you’d think it was intentional. Thank you for bringing us along on this make!

    I would have never thought of a knitted pinafore dress. It is lovely and you are brilliant. I am a bit jealous of your brain and talents.

      Its not talent, it's skill, anyone can learn how to do it this.

    I couldn't take my eyes off of how well the waste yarn looked with the fashion yarn, hoping you would use some of that red for embellishment. IMO the piece (or the next one) wants some piping to match your lipstick!

    That is a beautiful pinafore...my 13 year old wants one now. I don't have a knitting machine, but might have to learn how.

    Is there a way to put pockets onto knitted garments? I'm new to machine knitting, and your videos have been teaching me a lot. Thanks, and congrats on the sponsor!

      Yes it is possible, but I haven't attempted it yet. That'll have to be a whole video.

      Yes, there are a few different ways that you can make pockets, the easiest way would be a sew on patch pocket, or you can make a pocket in a similar way to doing an afterthought heel, by putting some waste yarn where you want the pocket to be and then knitting the pocket bag after knitting the skirt panels, or you can make ones that are sewn into the side seams.

    Can you do a video closeup tutorial on how you Kitchener stitch? I always end up missing an edge stitch. Thank you.

    That is a beautiful dress. Not my style as it's a pinafore but you have inspired me. I got a book of beautiful hands knitted shawl patterns. Both the front colours and back colours are gradients. I think I have about 10 to 15 colours, I can't remember if the to of my head. I looked at what the pattern was and tried to get similar colours. I think that to do two colours on the same row I can use my pattern/tuck thing. Well, that's only 24 sts wide I think, so I made a new pattern. Also because the hand knit shawl wouldn't fit in my machine (going to do it on my bulky) I have been thinking of different shapes I could make. Well, watching you make that dress makes me think I could do the colours and pattern as a dress. May not be the best on a bulky machine to make a dress, but I'm using double knit wool so that may be ok. My other issue is all the loose ends. Every row is two different colours, so attaching two similar panels may be too difficult. Unless I don't cut the wool and just carry it up? I bought to much wool for the shawl and I can always get more of the colours if I needed to, it's a will known brand in England. What do you think?

    That is AMAZING 😻 what a smart thing to do a circler knitting and attach it the same time for the top, that is engineer thinking 🥰

    Lovely dress. Your presentation was easy to follow and covered only the important steps; keeping to one color meant that the full discussion was on the construction of the dress (thank you). The yarn is beautiful. I checked out the company because you mentioned that they retrieve the ends of manufacturing cones. I registered to get on their mailing list and mentioned your channel.

    Wow! The skirt is stunning and your video so clear, beautifully done, with gorgeous pictures and full of informations! Thank you so much for sharing! I have been hand-knitting since 2007 with ColouMart yarns and I love them: incredible quality, fair prices and a wonderful customer service! I can only recommand them! Was the yarn you used a 6/28Nm or a 6/30NM EFM?

    I don't understand, how come when you remove the waste yarn, the whole thing doesn't fall apart?

  • @sewcute_sewvintage
    @sewcute_sewvintage Рік тому

    Can waste yarn be reused? My eco anxiety couldn't handle throwing away so much synthetic yarn. But I know it's the best to learn with.
    Maybe stuffing bears? Anyone have any ideas??

    • @janatherton9194
      @janatherton9194 Рік тому +2

      You can reuse your waste yarn, if it is a bit kinked up, you can cover it with a clean, damp tea towel and a little steam from your iron will remove some of the kinks, just don't touch it directly with the hotplate of the iron. Once cooled and dried you can wind it by hand into a small ball to use it again. If it is too far gone, then use it for stuffing toys, or cushions.

      I've been saving all my yarn scraps up for stuffing things, but I would like to card it and spin it at some point. It's a bunch of different fibers from cotton to wool to maybe a small amount of acrylic. Given my projects, it'll be a messy art yarn of many colors. If you have a cat or dog, stuffing for pet beds is doable too!
