Scott, these videos, and the videos of you hunting dxpeditions, are really what sets your channel apart. Nobody else on youtube regularly shows us the activity on the air. And the way you do it knocks it out of the park. Seeing you in action really helps newer operators see what it all looks like when it's done correctly. Great video and keep it up!!! 73 de VE3GKT
Glad you pointed out the fact that these DX contests are a good way to achieve DXCC. I tried my first CW DX contest 12 years ago and was amazed at how many of them upload their log to LOTW afterwards. It sure helped me get mine. The best part is (like you also said in the video-great point!) you don't have to do them "hardcore". Just casually getting a few Q's here and there throughout the weekend will add up. I participated in the CW WW CQ contest for the first time as a new CW operator! Man I had I lot of fun! I Made 183 Q's and was even able to work the US on 40m. 20m en 15m was packed with signals. My doublet didn't tune up on 10m so left some multipliers there. But I did make contacts on all other hf contest band including 160m! I only did S&P or a few hours. If I get better at CW I might do some running as well. I've also uploaded my contacts to LOTW for some new dxcc's :)
Scott, this is my favorite ham radio YT channel, but a LOT! In full disclosure I was featured on your 2020 June VHF Contest video, so I may be biased 😂. I’m a contester and not much of a DXer. I just looked and I have 240 countries confirmed since 1993 and that is without ever keeping track of what I’ve worked. If a DXpedition is OTA, I’ll work them if I don’t have to sit in a pileup for more than 5 minutes. So basically, it is all from contesting. Maybe I’ll actually chase down the rest after I retire. When I put up my tower I planned on a Mosley tribander, but a club member’s estate had also just come up for sale and they had a used Force 12 C4E at a price I could not pass up. If that ever fails I may try the Mosley. 73- K2QO
Hello Mark, and thank you for the kind words. I personally feel that overall, contesters are better ops than DXers, so I think you have a leg up on us. As far as the new antenna is concerned, it doesn't really matter in the long run what brand it is; just get some aluminum (or wire) in the air and get QRV...73! de WX0V
Had my first try at the CQ WW CW. Single band 40m low power 100watts, IC7300 into a Hustler 6BTV with 65 five metre radials. Worked 37 stations in three short sessions, some in Zones 4, 5 and 8, best DX to E2A zone 26. So far 19 confirmed in LOTW. 73 Mike

K8H is a tough path for parts of EU...makes it tough for those chasing them. As far as the differences between the IC-7610 and the IC-7600...the IC-7610 is an easy winner. I sometimes use the IC-7600 here for a change of look, or because the IC-7610 is tied up on another band. Good question...73! de WX0V
Band condx were great all last week and took a tank Friday of course. The ta33 did great here but 40 es 80 wasn’t great. 10 eu opened this morning around sunup. I really need to get my Mosley up higher.
@@JayN4GO That's a good question...but I don't know! 🤓 I usually have it at 12 o'clock on the IC-7610, but I adjust it depending on the situation, and how I am hearing that day. Sorry, but that's the best I can offer...kinda lame...73! de WX0V
