What is often not taken into account is that yes it is more so quite a genius marketin move than anything else. Because Em released a suprise album and this was out in like 24h from it. Which means he kinda needed to write it instantly in one sitting while getting a beat so it's recorded as quickly as possible, so it can go into mixing and mastering. Then on top shoot a video, edit it and then released. So ofc the point isn't to write as good as he is actually capable of but do as fast as can something that will still be awknowledged as it was. So it was a marketing move while born From Something Real.
Em took around 3 weeks to respond, which is kinda a long time (2 weeks seems like a max to me with a diss). So while yes ofc Em murdered him lyrically, just a pure soundwise IMO this sounds better and you cannot really compare 1:1 something written in one sitting and in 3 weeks. Yes everybody, Em clearly won but the concensus of not awknowledging that this did exactly what it was supposed to do and was actually taken serious at the time for being made so fast is kinda where you Have To give the guy props..

Man, that song was kind of awful in terms of a diss track but I love how it sounds. And I like the flow Eminem dude. But in terms of dissing, it wasn't that good for his standard

Basically MGK posted a tweet in 2012 commenting that Hailie was "Hot as fuck", she was only 16 at the time and MGK was 21. Em discovered this tweet on UA-cam a few years later and ended up banning MGK from the Shade 45 radio station in 2015.
MGK didn't take kindly to this and sneak dissed Em saying "To remind y’all you just rap, you’re not God".
So 6 years after the original tweet, Eminem drops Kamikaze and in turn Not Alike.
Kelly then dropped Rap Devil, the title an immediate shot at Em's Rap God.
Em claimed on an interview with Sway, just a few days before Killshot dropped, that he didn't diss Kelly because of the Hailie tweet. He said the reason was a lot more petty, " ‘I’m the greatest rapper alive since my favorite rapper banned me from Shade 45’ or whatever he said, right? Like I’m trying to hinder his career. I don’t give a fuck about your career. "
Em then dropped Killshot, which as you will see basically mocks everything about Rap Devil.
MGK did an interview saying that he understands Em's frustration given that he himself has a daughter and wouldn't like her to be disrespected in the way Hailie had.
Kelly also said Killshot was a 'Legshot' however, he also hinted that he changed his mind about responding to it, so it can't have been that bad. Killshot also forced MGK to switch genres. MGK has also been seen getting angry when papparazi have stopped him to talk about Marshall.
The pair made up over the phone but on a number of occasions on Em's MTBMB album, he dissed Kelly again.

And also, the Yellawolf's album thing was when MGK was supposed to feature on Yellawolf's final Shady Records album so MGK is speculating that Em will block the feature from being on the album (which he never did) and the song made it on to the final cut.

mgk didnt switch genres because of of killshot. he made a pop punk song with travis barker and youngblud, it blew up and the record label gave them a chance on an album. none of this has anything to with eminem. plus he made a shitty (imo) cover of swing life away like a decade ago and his album bloom had like 2 or 3 pop rock songs where he played the guitar/sang before kamikaze was released.

MGK made me excited when this video dropped, because he did the 2 things you NEVER do, 1) he directly asked for Slim Shady, and 2) he said Hailey’s name…which ALWAYS leads to Slim Shady returning, it don’t matter if it was a bridge to Eminem being the punchline, you say Hailey in ANY context Slim Shady will return, don’t matter if it’s a diss at her or a compliment, that name is OFF LIMITS, Ja Rule found out first hand and Slim Shady buried him so bad he no longer has a relevant career, and so did MGK, because Slim Shady who he asked for, buried him so bad MGK went Rock & acting just because he lost his career as a rapper cuz no one took him seriously after Eminem brought back Shady in “Killshot,” a direct response to this song.
Eminem doesn’t like Slim Shady ever since he got sober, because The Slim Shady LP, The Eminem Show & ESPECIALLY Encore, Slim Shady was all over the album, and they were dark albums, filled with hate for himself and others and being pilled up he didn’t pull any punches, so Eminem refuses to bring back Slim Shady UNLESS you say Hailey’s name or directly ask for Slim Shady, then he’ll do what you ask, bring back Shady and you lose your career as a result, and MGK did both and suffered the consequences.

When it comes to this diss - I think MGK did a great job. A lot of MGK haters like to say that Eminem's response made MGK switch genres... when MGK was covering multiple genres way before this diss. Still, I wish MGK responded to Em's response but he chickened out. So far Eminem has lost beefs against only two people - Everlast and Donald Trump.
His diss track was not good, the disses were just not impactful.

EMINEM’s response was infinitely better. Also, MGK dissed EM first in a freestyle and a feature with Tech N9ne. EM then responded on his album with a 20 second segment of a song and MGK claimed the whole album was about him and came after him with this sorry excuse of a diss and EM responded with Killshot. After that MGK went running scared to radio stations talking about how he won when he clearly didn’t for the next year. The whole thing started because back in 2012 a 20 something year old MGK was on social media talking about how hot EM’s daughter was while she was still underage at only 16.

I'd never heard of MGK before this so yes I agree with what you said about putting him on the map, but after Em released Killshot I never heard of MGK again until he was in a Jackass movie being punched into a pool by a giant hand, I'm not saying he has no talent, he does, but he chose the wrong way to go about getting fame IMO, he killed his career with this song IMO.

Mgk made the same 5 jabs in every way he could think of, while also praising the person he was dissing. That's an auto loss in my book, and I actually enjoyed Mgk before the diss, and still listen to his music.
I always said this. Em won by a hair 4 me only because he had better rhyme schemes, bars and wasn't complimenting. Mgk was more personal and it didn't start off great but each verse became more offensive & aggressive. If Mgk left out the compliments, chorus and just focused on purely tearing Em apart and using some of the controversies against him then I might have gave it to Mgk
