Amira was 10 here and is 20 now. She has sung constantly over the past 10 years, with a repertoire of arias, classic crossover, hymns, musicals, etc. She recently started music studies in South Africa where she has lived for several years. Having sung in many countries her fan base is quite extensive. For a contrast you might like her Sound of Music Medley, Little Drummer Boy, La Vergine Degli Angeli, Gesu Bambino, Amazing Grace. Great reaction! Subscribed. Amira has been a soprano since the age of 8. At the age of 9 she won Holland's Got Talent (HGT). Her 3 performances on HGT have hundreds of millions of views. Amira has almost 100 videos with over a million views each, as well as others. Amira has had an extensive, internationally successful career since the age of 9, with fabulous performances at massive concerts. There's no need to rush to see her recent shows. Yes she was 10 at this concert back in 2014, she is 20 now and studying for a bachelor in music at uni. 6 months earlier she had won Hollands got talent, and then recorded a cd. That's when she started receiving coaching. Before that she'd taught herself to sing.

Her first public TV performance was her audition for Holland's Got Talent in 2013 when she was 9.. when she also sang this aria.. and shocked millions of people..
She had taught herself to sing opera arias from UA-cam with just her 11 year old brother helping her figure out the language and pronunciation as best they could. I don't speak Italian but apparently her pronunciation wasn't perfect then... but only begrudgers would not have forgiven a self taught 9 year old that with that determination, talent and voice! 😊
Thank you for a nice first reaction to Amira, who was 10 years at this performance and has just turned 20 years, has just started university studying her bachelor of Music, but is already the most beloved soprano of all time, not just the voice of an angel but also the most beautiful soul with a heart of gold! There are many fantastic Amira performances on you tube, but for a more recent one that is a favourite of mine (and many Amira fans) is Gesu Bambino, which is amazing and shows that Amira doesn't need sound technicians and auto tune to make her sound phenomenal, she just is that GOOD! She was 10 in this performance! Check her 3 performances on Hollands got talent at 9 years old ( O Mio Babbino Caro, Ave Maria, and Nessum Dorma ). The power of her voice at that age is incredible. Up to that point she was self-taught by watching soprano performances on UA-cam and practicing them until she could nail them. Before the performance you just watched, she had 2 practice sessions with Andre. He gave her some advice on how to control her breathing.

"O mio babbino caro" is a soprano aria from the opera Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini. It is literally a teenaged girl throwing a temper tantrum at her father who disapproves of her boyfriend.

Amira was born in Nijmegen, on March 27, 2004. Her father is an electrical engineer who was involved in manufacturing semiconductors for Phillips, at Eindhoven. Her mother had studied law in South Africa, and came to Holland to continue her training; both are amateur musicians interested in classical music; her father plays a church organ; so Amira was exposed to classical music from her birth - and possibly before; there is some evidence that this increases the number of synapses in a child's brain , and hence their intelligence. There is a tradition in The Netherlands that on the monarch's birthday, children may perform in public parks; Amira's brother - 1.5 years her senior - also played the violin, and she wanted to participate, so she started to sing, and they went busking together and managed to earn enough to buy the largest trampoline available - it took her father the better part of a week to excavate the back lawn so it could be installed at ground level. Her schoolmates told her to tackle "Holland's Got Talent", and she asked her mother for permission to do so when she turned 7. Her mother said "No, you're too young - ask me next year". Amira did so, and her mother answered, "No, but the World will be at your feet when you are 9". Amira had been, in her bedroom, watching You Tube performances by Maria Callas and Paul Potts, and had taught herself how to sing - her mother thought that what she heard was coming from the computer, but it was actually her daughter singing.
So she entered the competition in 2013, and staggered everybody including herself by winning it outright. She sang "O mio Babbino Caro" (from the Puccini opera "Gianni Schicchi") for her audition (held on August 31, 2013 but not broadcast until October), the Bach/Gounod version of "Ave Maria" for the semi-final, and Puccini's "Nessun Dorma" (from the opera "Turandot") for her final (she sang it a second time at the request of the Compere, after her success was announced). All three are on You Tube - look for the versions "for English-speaking viewers).
She was also interested in Athletics, and had competed in the "seven hills" public cross-country race when she was 8 - she won in her class. Several days after winning HGT, she competed in it again - and again was the winner in her class. This taught her diaphram breathing and is probably the explanation for her incredible breath control for her age.
Andre Rieu saw the video of her audition for HGT, and offered her the opportunity of a "Master class" - which occurred in London on December 7, 2013. (See Andre Rieu Movies (historical) - the "RTL Late Night" - Humberto Tan & Amira Willighagen). This led to him asking her to perform with his orchestra in Maastricht on July 11 & 12, 2014.
As a result of her victory at HGT in December 2013, SONY Masterworks offered her a 3-year recording contract, subject to the limitations of Dutch law (12 appearances a year max) - her parents were not prepared to let her perform with Simon Cowell. She got a singing coach (Maike van der Weil) and recorded her first album in February 2014 - it was released on her tenth birthday.
At the age of 10, she launched her charity Foundation, "Gelukskinders", whose purpose is to provide disadvantaged schools in SA with playground equipment; that is still going today, expanded to include an inter-school netball competition.

In 2016, she was a guest artist for Coleske Artists (Pretoria, South Africa) at their inaugural "Classics is Groot" concert; she caused a sensation by singing "O Sole mio" with Patricio Buanne, and "Nella Fantasia" - which she repeated in November at the "Afrikaans is Groot" series of 11 concerts. Her contract with SONY expired in January 2017, and Coleske Artists snapped her up for another 3 year contract (that being the legal limit for a contract with a minor in both The Netherlands and South Africa), and others will tell you about her performances with them. In 2020, that contract expired and COVID 19 appeared, so she tried "streaming concerts" with the Atterbury Theatre in Pretoria. She did not look for further contracts, stating that "there are more sharks in the music business than in the ocean", but marketed her performance via "Gelukskinders", donating half her revenue. She releases abut 10% of her work via You Tube - that's her advertising budget. Look for her performance of "La vergine degli Angeli" from Verdi's opera "La force del destiny".
She finished her secondary education at the end of 2022 with a brilliant pass - and took a break year before attending the University of Pretoria this year.
