I'm just starting out on YT, and my MBPS DL is 350, and the Upload is at 9.5. I just plan to record in OBS for now, so would my Mac be good to use the mp4 recording format with the Apple H264 Hardware Encoder and an 8000 Bitrate? I recorded some NFL videos with the mkv, x264 and a 2500 bitrate. Trying to decide what's better.

If anyone is doing this with a laptop that is not as good, the setting that helped me is in “output” make sure you are on record and not stream. Change the “video encoder” to “software x264 low cpu usage preset” it has increased file size but did the trick for me
Highly recommend you set your FPS to your monitors refresh rate. Even tho yt cant see any higher than 60 the recording will look a lot smother! You can also set the "REMUX to mp4" setting for mkv!
@@MarcusDEllington 165 is good for most games. If you notice your recordings are struggling, you can keep lowering it until its stable. Higher fps does require more gpu power.
@@pyxelpotato incorrect. You can go higher than 60 by changing the fps setting to interval i believe. Sense youtube doesn’t allow for any higher than 60 when u record in higher framerate your video will look smoother.

I would recommend getting an external monitor that supports that resolution. There’s no way to change the resolution of your laptop sadly (I wish!) I use this mobile one when I record 4k in 16x9 amzn.to/4bgwhf5

What are your thoughts on using VBR or CQP for the rate control on the recording tab? I think CBR is fine for streaming, but I've noticed that when I'm recording and streaming at the same time, the saved recording can have some skipped/lost frames when recording highly intense sequences with lots of movement and action on the screen.
I don't understand how based on your upload speed and that chart you made you figured out the correct bitrate for your encoder settings. I feel like I'm missing some math you did. My average upload speed is 10Mbps and I'm typically recording in 4k but could downgrade that to 1080p is needed. Any advice?
Recording and streaming bitrates can be two separate things. Recording can be as high as you need depending on your computer specs. Streaming you are at the mercy of your upload speed and computer.
Can you make an update on recording on a MacBook Pro m series chip for some reason I’m having the absolute worst time the more I try rather files sizes are huge and still doesn’t look great or it just doesn’t look gd in general I have a m3mx chip tried highest setting maybe just the capture card but idk what else to do :/
I am having problems that after I live stream and record I put the file in to iMovie to edit and it's CONSTANTLY "analyzing audio" for hours on end. Is there a setting that I should change to avoid that? I've used the standard, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The live stream is perfect and the recording is perfect, but getting it imported to a video editor takes FOREVER! we're talking HOURS!

Thanks im using a integrated graphics Ryzen Card. Its petty fast, i can still play games at 60 fps at high settings, not max for some. Good to know about the x264 option. I need to change this next time.
So i did the same speed test you did and i got 207.8Mbps upload as my result, what would my streaming bitrate be for Twitch because between 6k and 8k bitrate my streams always get blurry when i start moving around or getting in gun fights?
@MidnightMan I could really use your help with something. I have reached out to a few people and no one has answered. I believe I have everything that I require to do this, but I may have my setting wrong or maybe it just won't work. So here's my issue. I have a PS5, an Elgato capture card, an Elgato stream deck, a PC with two monitors, one Mic (USB mic), and I use voicemeeter banana to route most of it. I do use an audio splitter from the PS5 to the PC. Everything works fine with streaming and recording videos. However, my PS5 party chat is where the issue lies. I would simply like to be able to hear my party chat and them hear me. I would also like for my party chat to hear the stream deck for soundboard purposes. Can this be done without using the remote play app for PS? Do I need to use Voicemeeter Potato for more audio tracks? Please help. With the current set up if I join a party on PSN or even using game chat. The only thing they can hear is a really loud looping of everything and they cannot hear me at all.
I’d say an easy fix to your setup would be a getting a second USB mic. That ways you have a separate mic that you can select on the PS5 so that you can be heard by your party. As for recording the audio, as long as your picking up game audio, the party audio will be with it as it’s all one audio source for PS5.
When i try to record,stream and broadcast on live tv i get a little bit of delay between the real person and the one in the screen. Can you advice on that?

My monitor has a 165 refresh rate so set it to that? Or 120? Since that’s the max some games get on series x and ps5

Are you pushing a bitrate that's too high? Make sure it's not going over 6,000, sometimes Twitch will reduce your quality on purpose.
My obs doesnt have preset, multipass or tuning. Would you know why?

Thanks im using a integrated graphics Ryzen Card. Its petty fast, i can still play games at 60 fps at high settings, not max for some. Good to know about the x264 option. I need to change this next time.

big tip i think is to still use mkv, obs has the abiltiy to remux back to mp4 so you dont have corruption fears.
Very great point, that way your recording is safe and you don’t lose quality having to convert to mp4
So i did the same speed test you did and i got 207.8Mbps upload as my result, what would my streaming bitrate be for Twitch because between 6k and 8k bitrate my streams always get blurry when i start moving around or getting in gun fights?
Why are you not using the HEVC?
because I made this tutorial for more general users. HEVC is nice but it comes with compatibility issues.

@MidnightMan I could really use your help with something. I have reached out to a few people and no one has answered. I believe I have everything that I require to do this, but I may have my setting wrong or maybe it just won't work. So here's my issue. I have a PS5, an Elgato capture card, an Elgato stream deck, a PC with two monitors, one Mic (USB mic), and I use voicemeeter banana to route most of it. I do use an audio splitter from the PS5 to the PC. Everything works fine with streaming and recording videos. However, my PS5 party chat is where the issue lies. I would simply like to be able to hear my party chat and them hear me. I would also like for my party chat to hear the stream deck for soundboard purposes. Can this be done without using the remote play app for PS? Do I need to use Voicemeeter Potato for more audio tracks? Please help.
With the current set up if I join a party on PSN or even using game chat. The only thing they can hear is a really loud looping of everything and they cannot hear me at all.
I’d say an easy fix to your setup would be a getting a second USB mic. That ways you have a separate mic that you can select on the PS5 so that you can be heard by your party. As for recording the audio, as long as your picking up game audio, the party audio will be with it as it’s all one audio source for PS5.
How good of a desktop do you need to stream at 1080p 60 on twitch? Or is it more about your internet?
Really any relatively new CPU with quad core and you’ll be ok. Internet just need to be around 5 megs

When i try to record,stream and broadcast on live tv i get a little bit of delay between the real person and the one in the screen. Can you advice on that?
