      Hello Dustin, I have purchased Drops premium after watching your video. Thanks for your work!
      I saw your video about LingQ, but it rightnow has no discount in my country rightnow (I did ask them via email), so I think I have to wait for it. And, I want to ask you that if you know any source similar to LingQ, please make a video about it, or, you can help me by leaving a comment here, much thanks!!
      Can you review: Memrise, Speechling, Falou and Bunpo (not Bunpro)?

      I'm using on a daily basis three apps: Loora to practice speaking, Elsa Speak for practise pronunciation and LingQ for listening and reading. Still looking for a good app to practice writting.

      I think Pimsleur and Rocket Languages are the 2 best overall apps available.
      I also like Busuu, specifically for the community features.
      I also like to supplement with Speakly and Beelinguapp.
      I started with Duolingo, so I keep that streak up, but it isn’t my favorite at all.
      I tried Drops for Farsi. The transliteration was an odd format, so it wasn’t for me.
      If they used the same format as Pimsleur or Mondly, I would have liked it better, but even if that wasn’t an issue, I didn’t like the cartoon graphics. I know many people LOVE it, but I would have preferred images/photos.

    Great video. Just a question, i am currenly in milestone 20 - spanish. May I know what happen once we reached milestone 25? Is there going to be a challenge/game

      @DustinSchermaul  2 місяці тому

      Hey Muhammad,
      I'm sorry to say that nothing really happens once you have reached the highest milestone… I've also been a bit disappointed by that. Hopefully the Drops team adds something at some point.

    Is pronunciation practice specific to the paid, or to an advancement level?

    • @DustinSchermaul
      @DustinSchermaul  2 місяці тому

      That's a very good question, I actually can't answer. I only use the paid version... Sorry for that :(.

    Um, just a heads up, the free version has the dojo (but it uses your 5 minute session), the word collection, and you can start a section over again to relearn (also uses your sessions for the day). And the topics aren't all locked, you typically have one or two of each section.

    • @DustinSchermaul
      @DustinSchermaul  2 місяці тому +1

      Ah, got it! Thanks for all the info, I wasn't aware anymore of how the free version looks in detail. Thanks!

      @GoingGreenMom 2 місяці тому

      @DustinSchermaul lol, I kind of figured because a couple years ago you were right on! They just opened the audio portion to free users as well in the last 6 months, but you only get 1 section per 24 hour block like the quizzes.

      I had French at the max words, but it's been a while and since then more words have been added ;).

    Great, thorough instructional video plus review. You are the first to go through the Drops app so thoroughly and systemically - so this is a great instructional video for those who want to see Drops in action before deciding to buy.
    Also, helpful for those of us (like me) who already have Drops but still working out how to best navigate it and get the most from it features. I’ve only just recently purchased it. It is good but was still a bit confused about a few things, which you have cleared up. I’ve also found out a few extra features because of your video.
    By the way, your videos are great. I’ve got a few others of yours I have started to watch and will finish later when I have some more time. (I commonly earmark videos in this way that I wish to return to so they are in my history).
    I notice you don’t have a lot of views yet, but, many of your videos have unique help that I can’t find elsewhere. You also present things well, clearly and have a friendly manner. So, don’t be discouraged because while it could take time to get traction, keep in mind the internet lasts forever - for instance there are language videos from 5 years ago that I’m just discovering now that are helpful. So, you too will eventually get this traction too. It is like compound interest once you attract lots more people they will exponentially attract others.
    Also, have you contacted Drops themselves about your video? It is good advertising for them. I don’t think they even have an instructional video as in-depth as this.

      Thank you so much for the positive feedback. This means the world to me and motivates me going on :). Whenever you're watching a video and you got further questions or also ideas for other videos that I should make, just let me know and I'll be happy to respond. Your comment really made my day and encourages me tremendously. As long as I can provide value I'm on the right track I guess. Just important to know what can help other learners the most.
      My first Drops video has been only 10 minutes, but I needed some more time to elaborate on the new features etc. and make it comprehensive. Even I myself am always learning new stuff, when making those videos about apps that I have even been using for years now.
      I haven't contacted Drops so far, to be honest, but it's a good idea to do so. Thanks for coming up with that idea!
      Have a great start into the new week :).

      @@DustinSchermaul Thanks for the reply, I'm so glad you found my comment encouraging :)
      LOL, I forgot to mention the best thing, was that in fact I bought a Drops subscription due to your initial review. I had seen another review by another great language UA-camr and that made me consider getting it, but I wanted a bit more detail, so I did a UA-cam search and your initial Drops video came up, it was so clear, thorough and engaging that it clinched it for me. So, I immediately bought Drops. However, being a new user I was still trying to figure it all out, so, watching your second video has been very helpful to me in terms of navigating it and getting the best out of it. As you say it's a great App, but I did find some parts of it unclear. So, you did a great job of explaining how to navigate it.
      One thing I think I would like to see in Drops, is actual verbs added (unless it has that and I haven't noticed it?). Though, I realise the concept is about learning vocabulary, and that is great. I also realise that occasionally they throw a phrase in where you get a verb, but an actual section concentrating on verbs, with at the very least present tense verbs would be really helpful. But, I realise it could be tricky to do, considering that various conjugations exist even in present tense in many languages. But, so much of understanding a language is knowing the verbs. And, the great thing about even just knowing present tense verbs is that you can then often figure out any similar words you see, as they are likely to be a conjugation of that.
      Anyway, thanks for these great videos.
      Now that you have made this second Drops video people searching for Drops reviews are likely to come across both of your videos and I'm sure many of them will watch both.
      In any case, it has occurred to me that in real life we would all be excited if we decided to give a speech in a hall and a few hundred people turned up. So, if you think of it that way, even those videos that get smaller audiences are still impacting quite a lot of people - and, even if only one person is helped that is one person who has found your videos highly beneficial.
      Anyway, good luck with it all and I will be checking out your other videos also. (BTW, I also love a good coffee, so I appreciate you starting the videos with a nice coffee, as I often do myself while watching UA-cam :)

    Do you just choose your level for beginner intermediate or advanced or can you test into a level? Can you test out of a level? Like skip ahead in Duoling?

    • @DustinSchermaul
      @DustinSchermaul  Рік тому +1

      With the levels that's actually a pretty new thing within the app. Before that you would just learn whatever category you like. Now there is a beginner category… So you can skip around how you want.

      UA-cam makes it really difficult for small channels to reach a larger audience and grow. This is so far removed from what UA-cam started out being. It's really sad. I only found this channel because I did a specific search for a "Drops 2023 review".

    • @DustinSchermaul

      Yes that's unfortunately true. I also don't want to use titles and thumbnails that are clickbait. As long as I reach people out there that find value in my videos I'm happy. No matter the number :).@@OaktownGirl
