Pressing E will interact with an object. Holding E will pick/lift it up, so that you can position it. That's what happened with the beer bottle at 41:15. Pressing E again will drop the held object. As for grabbing everything up - a bit of a spoiler as it is not well explained. You can pick up many, many objects. These objects often have no primary use (like the hot plate, the coffee mugs, etc. but you can (a) sell them (totally not worth it!) and you can (b) store them in the workbench in a settlement were they will be recycled and the building components then used for building or (c) drop them on the ground to recycle them manually, while in Workshop mode. The latter take smore time but allows you to see how much of a building material (called junk in this game) you have. As having a mug in your workbench will not show you how many ceramic parts you have. This applies to building in settlements as well as upgrading armor or weapons.
Oh thanks for the clarification on the E. I was wondering why it was sticking to the curser. And I had no idea you could store things in workbenches currently I have a bunch of junk stores in my old washer back at my “house” heh
@@authygamer - Junk is not Junk - it's a complete misnomer. Building materials would be a better name. But you can transfer all "junk" in the Workbench with a single click - R to store things and then T to store all "junk". And you'll need TONS of the stuff if you ever feel like building settlements. After a certain point in the game you can buy "Shipments" from vendors. These give you 50, 100 or 200 of the mentioned "junk" but weigh nothing. So trading for those is pretty important. If you only do armor and weapon modding, you won't need a lot of materials, thankfully. When in doubt search UA-cam for Fallout and Settlement builds to get an idea what you can (painfully and laboriously) achieve with the building menu. Some of the builds are ... awsome.
I've watched lots of Fallout 4 content from several streamers from the beginning, but I jumped right along with you in the exit chamber when that rad roach attacked you! 🤣🤣🤣
As for weapons - when it says 02/25, it means that you can (and have) chambered 2 rounds (it's a double barreled shotty, so only 2 shots in the "magazine") and that you have 25 shots of ammo in your inventory. Ammunition can be hard to come by - there's a perk that increases the likelihood of finding ammo and if you have the GOTY edition, you can also build a machine that can create ammunition - provided you have the raw ingredients, usually fertilizer and lead.
@@authygamer - That thing doesn't belong at that stage of the game and neither does the power armor. Rumors are that those were late development additions to make it more interesting but it made so many people get the wrong idea that it is just a bad shooter (interface doesn't respond well to fast button presses). Without that nonsense right at the start the frustration level for new players would have been lower. Oh - and there are legendary versions of those things ... enjoy! ^.^
For the makeup (you can change things later) you need to press the space bar to apply the option or options (you can have every eyeliner active, if you want). Clicking with the mouse - unintuitively - exits the menu without applying. Bethesda and their weird programming ...

The problem with "following the main storyline" is that, unlike Skyrim and the icons for the quests, you have NO indication which is a main quest and which isn't, so it might take a bit longer than 20 -30 hours. Just giving a fair warning. Oh - and one more: A certain guy named Garvey (?) will give you an endless amount of Radiant quests. So - anything relating to helping settlements or defending them is NOT main quest.
@@authygamer Skyrim is VERY different to ESO, especially the builds. And there are, obviously, no sieges and such. But from the game speed it is very relaxed and less spammy than ESO. I'd recommend the 20 or so bucks for the anniversary upgrade - the player homes are a must and well worth the cost of the pack. Also: If you plan to go mage one day (not recommended for a 1st playthrough), you'll enjoy the extra spells from the AE. I assume a 1st playthrough will be a no-mod one, which means missing out on a lot in terms of making the game look MUCH better. But Skyrim is still my favourite game - although I hope that Outlaws might change that, if Ubisoft doesn't mess up.
That’s good to hear regarding the pace, and for the recommendation of the anniversary addition. I love homes in games it just makes sense to have a place to go back to after a long day of adventuring. Or at least every so often.
IMPORTANT: You are yet another player who completely missed the one and only hint at the V.A.T.S. system because you were way too busy fighting the bugs after the overseer's office to notice the little hint box at the top left of the screen. What it told you is to *hit Q to enter VATS*. VATS slows down time significantly and allows you to target individual body parts on an enemy and select multiple enemies. It's also the only way (almost) to get critical hits in this game- And it would have made the fight against the many bugs much easier. Alas, Bethesda did a Rockstar here and gave the hint at a moment where 99% of players are sure to miss it on account of being rushed by a small army of bugs. VATS is also excellent for scouting if enemies or mines are around and you should make a point familiarizing yourself with it as it is really helpful when being rushed by many enemies - which will happen quite often. The number displayed on each body part is the chance to hit. You can spec your character to have more action points (each AP is one shot at a target in VATS) and increase its accuracy. Just so you know what you missed due to an awfully bad design by Bethesda.
Oh wow that is helpful. I actually have a book here I am jotting down the hints hitting Q to go into VATS goes to the top of this list and is getting circled. Thank you that’s very helpful. That should make fighting much easier!
