    'And now that he's publicly established himself as a straight up domestic terrorist, Neo spends the rest of the series soaring over the city like a magical Osama bin Laden.'
    Just about choked to death on my morning coffee. Daniel O'Brien, you are a national comedic treasure.

      You should see "Star Wars - The blackened mantle" a recut and rewritten prequel trilogy. It is only one movie lasting almost 3 hours and it has a lot of minor and some major changes. And that is not mentioning how the dialogue is changed completely, they use japanese audio with english subtitles and they sync up names to provide an illusion. Anyway it is worth checking out, it was what the fans deserved, they even made the romance see bearable.

    to be fair, the "humans are basically pets compared to vulcans" isn't taking into account the extension of human lifespans into the future - bones lived until he was over 130 years old, at least, which is probably closer to the average human lifespan at the time. still shorter than a vulcan's, to be fair, but like... parrot short, as opposed to dog short.

    What about any movie that has antagionists that just decide they hate the protagionist and will go out of their way to bully them just because they dont like their face or something? They must live seriously depressing lives if they are that obsessed with bullying some random person. It's just extremely lazy writing.

      +The Onyx Eclipse Sonic's story is a little more clear in the comics. Mobius is earth in the future and there's talking animals. Egg Man is a brilliant scientist and also a communist or some kind of oppressive ruler who betrays the king and takes over. Sonic, being a teenage rebel with a need for speed decides to fight the man and overthrow the literal and figurative oppressive machines. That and he plays guitar and eats chili dogs.

    It would have been too controversial for the 80s, but I wish Bill and Ted had stopped off at Moses on the mountain. Moses looks up, sees sunlight glinting off the chrome of the phone booth that creates what he thinks is a holy light, and he begs them for commandments to bring to the masses. Bill looks at Ted and they grin. Cut to Moses bringing down two stone tablets, onto which are carved the two commandments...

    • @houseofaction
      @houseofaction 8 років тому +4

      thats irrelevant. there is no difference in the life span of full Vulcan or half vulcan. the Leonard nemoy Spock in the new star trek movies came from 129 years in the 2009 star trek future. the young Spock in that is 30 years old so the old Spock in that one would be about 159 years old. vulcans can life 200 years or more. so there shouldn't be a big difference between half vulcans and full vulcan life spans if any at all being they are so technologically advanced

      The Death Star wasn’t just a space station, though - it was a government office building. I think it’s more equivalent to an attack on Parliament or the Pentagon (or maybe the 1943 attack on Pearl Harbor). But imagine if the Pentagon had a surface area greater that New York City.
      If someone attacked the ISS, it would be a tragedy, but ultimately astronauts are just ... figureheads. The government would recover. The employees on the Death Star are essential workers.

    of course if time is a predestined loop the first half of your argument is invalid. If they learned something they shouldn't have it's clearly fine, because it happened. If Billy the kid learned he died at 23, he's still gonna die at 23, whatever happens

    • @Xacris
      @Xacris 8 років тому +18

      +Sam Wilson Which means he either died despite the future knowledge, or possibly because of it. A common trope used is that because you know that you die a certain way, you maneuver to avoid it, but all that maneuvering ends up being the thing that gets you killed. Thus, Bill and Ted killed Joan, Billy, Lincoln, etc.

    • @Lilithly
      @Lilithly 8 років тому +1

For all we know, all this time travelling gave Lincoln encouragement that the Civil War was the right thing to do. Perhaps if Bill and Ted didn't kidnap him, he never would have committed Union forces to attack the South in the first place.

    Yea, but the thing youre forgetting about the matrix is that Morpheus's first lesson for Neo was "If you arent one of us, you're one of them" meaning he has to assume that any one of those "innocent humans" is a potential agent. Gunning down all those people isn't really bad because anyone still plugged into the matrix is basically an agents body to snatch.

    • @samuelperezgarcia

      Samuel Pérez García Did you read my post, friend? Every person that they havent converted is a potential agent, EVERY SINGLE ONE. That was his FIRST LESSON. There's no such thing as innocent, you'd have to be talkin babies, children, and elderly for me to really care about this fictional world. Security guards are actually in danger of terrorists doing that for real. So shouldnt they be aware of any life threatening risks?

      blacktee31 I did read your post. What's even better, I have seen the Matrix and know exactly what Morpheus was saying.
      Neo did what he had to do.
      He still killed innocent people.

    • @blacktee31
      @blacktee31 8 років тому

      Samuel Pérez García I dont consider them innocent. We know nothing about those people, babies are innocent, children even, security guards? To call them innocent takes a leap in logic because we know nothing about their background. They're just blank faces.

    The average human in the star trek universe lives to 120 with some, Dr. Mcoy for example, lived to be like 137. So a Vulcan lifespan isn't that far off from a human.

      lets not even get into the fact that comparing a dog/pet relationship to humans and an alien civilization communicating is super off. Just because they live longer doesn't mean they simply don't understand that they're pretty much our intellectual equals and we arguable have a stronger in military force... We don't go to war with our dogs or have pacts and building ships with them.

    My biggest problem with the Matrix why don't they just imagine some badass futuristic nonlethal weapons in the computer world Clearly they can use whatever gun and vehicle they want, (a minigun armed helicopter,) so why can't they just load their virtual guns with some nonlethal bullets. Hell there from the future so they probably have some pretty advance nonlethal weapons or if they insist on killing people they certainly have future weapons more lethal than anything from the simulation 90s had access to.

      +Joshua Moody The Matrix can re-adjust the memories of the people attached to it. Which means the survivors of Neo's rampages won't remember a thing about it. And if Neo killed your best friend the matrix would adjust your memory, too, so you wouldn't remember ever having a best friend in the first place. But I give you, those whom they kill are dead and stay that way.

    The most amazing thing about the Joan of Arc story: She lived her whole life in one town, never leaving it, like most women of her era, and then just suddenly drops everything and walks away. People dont just randomly change their entire life direction like that. She had to have seen something. A time traveler who takes her to a fantastic future where she learns that she does these amazing things could realistically be interpreted as divine direction.
    Also, fun fact about Abraham Lincoln: A psychic warned him about his death, but decided not to listen. So he could have been told about it by time travelers, but just didn't care. So no paradox.

    Actually human life-spans are longer in Star Trek as well, presumably due to technological advancements. Dr. McCoy shows up in the first episode of the next generation at which point he would have been 137 years old. So yeah, Vulcans still live longer, but no quite to the human vs dog level.
