The whole favoring girlgroups thing is a long running gag on this show. It's not meant to be taken seriously, and the boys knew what they were getting into. Honestly A-Jax played it off really well, and managed to keep bringing the attention back to them. From previous experience watching rookie episodes with this format, the boys did well enough to basically guarantee themselves a solo appearance next comeback.

People complain about how the guy group doesn't get enough attention, yet when you think about it thats promortion right there. People feel bad and want to learn more about them and would go look at their stuff after. Just because of kpop culture if the reverse was done then it would not have the same effect for the girls, so i think the way the mc treated people first is for a comedic affect and is also just distributing the interest people have int he groups.
