What a lovely Sunday you have given me! Because of you, I have a great appreciation for M R James, I love his stories, like Edith Wharton, he provides ghost stories that bring dread, unease and a bit of fright in a slow-paced and comforting manner. This is quite a skill. The narrator is key to this coming through properly.
Note: I had never heard of Edith Wharton before Tony Walker read her stories to us, I consider this a gift that makes life just a little sweeter. Thank you, Tony Walker, you are a superb narrator.
I fell in love with his stories. Drove in the middle of the night from grandma's place. Couple hour drive through the woods as "Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad" played from the radio. Never been so spooked. Thank you for the upload!
It's funny you say "to keep you up at night' because I listen to these when I'm awake in the middle of the night and your amazing comforting reading sends me back to sleep every time! Thank you so much for all you do.
The tractate of middoth is an absolutely incredible piece of narration!! All the characters were so vivid in my mind from the different voices and accents!
Thanks for sharing from Maryland. I've been a fan of MRJames since middle school and still enjoy in my sixties. It's not an easy read for some, but not for me ❤

It is very hard for me not to sneak a P between S & M in "Samson," maybe because I had a secondary school teacher named Delbert Lampson. You did pretty well.
Thank you very much Tony!! Hubby and myself are listening to you, while sneezing, coughing and shivering!! We both have the 'Flu,, and your excellent Narrations take our minds off the symptoms!! We cannot Thank you enough!! Namasté 🙏🕊️💞🌟 Andréa and Jasper. ...XxX...
Martin's Close is a brilliantly crafted ghost story. Not one of M R James best known stories but a story seen through a trial transcript in the context of an antiquarian investigation.

I think the machine mind suggested that title to be honest.
I think "To help you sleep at night" would send the wrong message tbf 😊
Thanks, Tony!
I like how James told us the locations he had in mind for these stories. I wish more authors did that.
Great job! Thanks!

I'm keeping on for a bit yet.

The horror!
To Tony (and anyone who loves MR James), Prime BBC is currently showing three MR James tales: Tractate Middoth, The Mezzotint and Martin’s Close.
