- "I'm not like other vampires, I live in a modern home"
This is the AD Open Door Tour you never knew you needed for Edward Cullen's Forks, Washington house. While explaining the modern home, I also go into the history of modern architecture, a diatribe about a chaise lounge, and how the house compares to the book.
My podcast on Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner's house: • The home and studio of...

"i wish edward cullen could've embraced who he truly wanted to be, instead of embracing a minor" that sneaky joke at the end hit perfectly, i can't even
literally perfect. so unexpected after a mostly serious analysis that the joke hit like a fire truck. this channel has such good writing already, but the stellar comedy throughout is the beautiful cherry on top.
I am unconditionally and irrevocably in love with this analysis 👏
this is the best comment!
😂
I am conditionally and revocably in love with this analysis
I use the word "irrevocably" all the time and it's extra fun/embarrassing when people respond with "You definitely learned that word from Twilight."
letting yourself love things others think is shameful is the spice of life
it really makes life so much more fun!
Are we generalizing murder. NO. Not letting yourself love things that people with common sense think shameful is what life is about. This can imply on people who like to murder so don't generalize stupidity
@@hassantariq9853 okay there bud slow down i think twilight isn’t quite akin to murder
@@hassantariq9853 youre so right, they were totally meaning to conflate actual taboos with guilty pleasures. youre so smart for adding this nuance to the discussion thank you so much
@@arbyswitch5580 taboo in todays age is sadly subjective so idk what on about. What is taboo for someone might be guilty pleasure for other. Shameful and Wrong aren't that distinct. It's just people's perspective. They very concept of normalization has brought us to this point. So Wether that person directly mentioned the subject in my comment which triggered you or not doesn't matter. His very statement is the epitme of normalization that has brought human race to this point where people cannot tell the difference between shameful/wrong or "guilty pleasures"
“Do thé Cullens know about load-bearing walls? Presumably, yes.” Brilliant. They have the money to have those steel support beams put in. Just found this channel today. So clever and droll.
"Bella, also known as Y/N"😂😂😂
this video is like if you scraped the inside of my lasagna pan skull for all the good crispy bits (I don't know what I mean maybe you know what I mean)
This is the nicest comment! From one lasagna pan skull to another
I enjoy you talking about houses so much...Please do a video about the house of Stephan and Damon from Vampire Diaries, I would love to know more about this!!
Yes! I second this
I lived down the street from this house in Madison, GA. It is truly something amazing.
this video is breaking my brain xD I had no idea MCR was started because of 911 and NOW i find out the expensive couch my boss just bought for the gallery is in the Twilight movie xD STAHP!
"That's a fun fact you can Remember Me by." JAIL
After I heard that line I started thinking how many other nine eleven movie jokes is she sneaking in that I'm not getting
the way the cullens' house is a perfect reflection of the way they try to be vampires vs the way the what we do in the shadows house(s) reflect that same thing for those vampires.... excellent thank you for the video
Just want to say I just stumbled across your channel today and I've already watched three videos in a row. Absolutely love your commentary and analysis, so glad I found this channel 😊
Me too lol
Your wit is unmatched 🤣 and omg thank you for shouting me out lol I’ll take anything and as an excuse to talk about twilight!
Yes! Thank you for inspiring me!!
when you ended the sentence on "remember me" I screamed 😂 I absolutely love your humor❤
i remember my jaw was on the floor (surrounded by tears) when i saw the end of that movie
Choked on my own spittle at your last line 😂
I had to do a bunch of takes for that line
Am I bingeing your stuff? Perhaps. Can anyone stop me? Also perhaps. Either way, it's really interesting to read this reading of Edward, the Cullens, and their lifestyles (including their house) when mine was so different. To me, it almost seemed like Edward had given up, he's just dragging himself through life to feel anything anymore, including going to highschool, a nuclear option, because it forces you to interact with your "peers" in a way university does not. At uni you can sit in the back row of an auditorium, turn in your papers, and never interact. And this is echoed in his room. The pieces he does have are utilitarian, almost. No sleep so no bed, does lie down to listen to music so best couch money can buy, and records to match. Anything to feel again, especially since the underlying morality with which he lives his life implies suicide as a great big no-no, which is why I would posit he is so primed for Bella. Just the fact that her blood is uniquely delicious to him means that he is willing to take huge leaps, again, just to feel.
Anyway, this is just my reading and I haven't touched the books and movies in ages so I could well be wrong 🙃🙃🙃
I have more thoughts on Pacific Northwest architecture and FLW's work but I think I shall stop writing now ❣️❣️❣️
OMG I JUST STARTED WATCHING YOUR CONTENT AND WHEN YOU SNUCK IN THE VLADDY DADDY I ABOUT DIED 😂😂
he has a place in my heart, but mostly a place on my sims doorstep at like 1am.
Adored this video essay. Such great script and humour. Love you mentioning Edward infringing on Bella’s privacy, and the minor line such a sucker for humourous anti-sexist one liners. I loved the bit where you do a twilight edition architectural digest. Love the deep dive: great academic explanations of what is incorporated in modern architecture vs victorian architecture. Amazing section about the book's description of the house. Adore analysis like this. Such a great connection to the house and the character's personality and identity. And amazing vampire-related comments and jokes. Your video is really well edited - I love the timing of the visual aids, they add to both understanding and the humour.
Thank you so much! Knowing all the little things are being seen and noticed makes the time on it feel so worth it!
@@kendragaylord my pleasure! Thanks for brilliant videos
wow u really are on point. when I spotted the Barcelona day bed and you called it a chaise lounge i was like nooo. You quickly circled back and not only corrected ur statement, but dropped a lil factoid about it 👏😂
I'd like to also point out the modern house is much more rich pacific northwest than what meyer described. I've lived in Washington and Oregon all my life and remember reading the description of the Cullen house and scoffing. Ive only ever seen colonials in Seattle and Portland. The old logging towns, if rhey have big houses, have victorians or track house monstrosities from the 70s. The house they picked for the movie felt more realistic.
One of the more faithful (and less fanciful partly due to budget) adaptations of Dracula is from 1977 starring Louis Jourdan. It was a two-part 2.5 hour BBC miniseries. It’s available on UA-cam in case you ever wanted to do a compare and contrast follow-up to this!
i’m still in the intro and i can already tell this is gonna be one of my fav videos. you’re genuinely SO funny and i need you to know that. and your delivery is so good. i love this sm
also this is so interesting and well formatted!!
I've gone down a wormhole of your videos 😅 I love them
Thank you for journeying down the wormhole with me!!
I have never clicked on a video so fast.
This was amazing!! And omg I love your editing! Thank you for your analysis! Would you mind sharing/doing a video on your top 5 vampire houses that truly embrace the vampire lifestyle 🧛🏻♀️
This is a great idea! I will put it in on the list!
The movie and tv series: What we do in the shadows, has the aesthetic of the typical vampire hideout.
The image of older Robert Pattinson standing in the corner 🤣
There's an oldie movie I *adore* called "How to Steal a Million"- would equally *adore* an analysis on the Bonne House 😍
I love that film, haven’t watched it in ages though.
I'm a lot like the other Vampyres.
I live in a Victorian built in 1902.
I named the house "Gothika".
🖤🦇🖤
It's much better to embrace it! I love the name Gothika!
@@kendragaylord I'm glad you like it.

“That’s a fun fact you can Remember Me by” 😂 I was worried you weren’t going to mention that movie
One aspect about this analysis that haunts me is the mention of wealth. I distinctly reading the last book in the saga where she describes how much money that have. Not money as in bank money, but like cash and Bella says how much in units of the median household income. Now that’s probably way less than I thought when I read the books, but that description is kind of brutal.
This was great, enjoyed every minute.
i'm so glad you liked it!
my spouse and I got married in a VRBO rental that was a Victorian home built in 1884 in a small town in Ohio. it was apparently the first of its kind in that town to have full pane glass windows, and there was a story that a man once spit his chewing tobacco straight onto the glass thinking it was a wide open window as he had never seen such a thing before
obsessed with this hahah, the AD mimic in the beginning sent me
I just found your channel, came here from the gilmore girls videos. Omg I didn’t know how much I needed this in my life.
you dont even know how excited i got when you mentioned this video at the end of the gilmore house video
Who’d of thought that after over 100 years of existence (for just Edward) he still falls into the very human trap of wanting to blend in
confession time: the only time I ever went out of my way to watch a movie in cinema twice, was for the first twilight movie. (which of course doesn't mean that there weren't any greater movies in the past 15 years, my relationship with the cinema experience has just changed. but still, twilight had a very strong affect on my 12 year old self)
Now that that's out of the way and the world knows my truth, I also wanna say: thank you for this video! I love architecture and I love how much in-depth information you provide in all of your videos.
Fantastic "Remember Me" joke here.
Had to pause and tell you I laughed out loud at the Minecraft blocks when you were talking about building materials. Double thumbs up for that reference. Also I just found your channel the other day and then your podcast. Have already watched three videos and listened to four episodes. I’m obsessed!
Sis I thought you had a million subscribers already. You deserve it
I live for your ability to insert a sims reference in unrelated videos
That second chaise was nicer, and it also works better by the window, because ti doesn't block the light. I'd have chosen that chaise over the uncomfortable but "fancy" one, any day.
This was really fun to watch- such a creative idea for a video
thanks for the link
Love this so much.
omg loving your videos! great perception of the aesthetics!
I loved this video!
This video was hysterical (and informative).
new subscriber here! love how you deliver these topics
I just found your channel. I’ve watched several episodes and put you on my ‘To Marathon’ list. You make me twitch and snort and slap the kitchen table (I was eating dinner alone as The Drummer had a gig). I refused to put The Twilight series on my Goodreads because I was too old to admit I read them. 🤪
This is everything I've ever wanted. Thank you so much 🌹
Wow I love your twilight and Gilmore girls inspired videos! Such funny stuff, can’t wait for more
This was so delightful and witty.
omg this was such a great twilight analysis, also the way i gasped when you mentioned vladdy daddy 😂
The content, the editing. My new fav youtuber!
A Vladdy Daddy reference is really not what I expected when I started this video
Thanks you made my day
Mies van der Rohe, "some guy"!? He's very important in modern architecture.
Thank you, this video is so hilarious!! 😄😍
Your videos are fresh and interesting! love 'em
This is so fun! ✨🌙✨
This video was hilarious and also taught me a lot. Awesome job! I spat my water when I saw the minecraft materials show up when you mentioned water and stone 😂😂😂😭😭
I just found your channel today. It's brilliant! I feel like I'm the only one that was ever talking about movie houses lol.
At 0:33 I was eating something and I barely survived the choking that occurred from my laughter. 😂😂😂😂😂
Your whole channel is amazing! Thanks for the wonderful work 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Ohhh I love this Video! This is exactly my kind of stuff. It's nerdy an includes furniture, design and houses/ architecture!!
love love love this
Bro-lady, I'm in. I saw your AD video, now this - amazing POV! I laughed so much! That's it. Have a fab day!
'vladdy daddy' im dying 😂😂😂😂😂
6:22 That gave me a jolt, hahaha :D
Also a closet Twilight "fan" here. Loved this analysis. Thank you!
There are many of us finally walking into the sun, sparkling in the fandom, lol
“Brought to you by generational wealth, but they’re all the generations”
The Sims reference! 😂Great video!
I have never understood why vampires who sparkle in the sunlight would want a house that is nothing but windows... I know people don't just stop by, but they could. Then how do you hide that from a random guest. (side note: the actual house is wildly gorgeous)
Okay ... "Vladdy Daddy" is now the only name I will use.
usually these kind of homes are on large plots of land with a long driveway and trees framing them so they actually do have a lot of privacy than a home that faces a public street
I loved this better than the first movie. I didn't see the other movies.
brilliant
I would love to see your opinion one day of Percy Jackson camp cabins, they are all so different and full of interesting descriptions!
Gosh that's good
9:46 holy shit I have almost exactly that antique radio in my own house. brb, gotta tell my husband that he has had a vampire radio this whole time
Please do this for every show😂
The very best house ever built for a ghost movie is in the movie (NOT the tv series) The Ghost and Mrs Muir. Gull Cottage is the most perfect seaside sorta-Queen Anne. The interior split staircase, the Widows Walk in the main bedroom, but most of all the curtained alcove bay window in the sitting room. Delicious.
I haven't heard of this movie! I will put it on my watch list!
Just watched this movie! Absolutely wonderful! Great to see a closer perspective on the turn of the century from the 1940s vs today. Thank you so much for the recommendation!
@@kendragaylord I am so delighted you not only watched it but enjoyed it! The two characters bonded at the exact moment she confessed that she loved the house, and he understood that love perfectly. I fall in love with houses too (Hainsworth mansion in West Seattle, some day you WILL be mine!) but my ethereal ghostwriter has yet to materialize.
This is sooo fun 😂
That description of Twilight in the beginning was absolutely amazing. Perfect. No notes. Stay awesome, stay beautiful, stay perfect. Hahaha
Seriously… that shit was savage and I love it.
okay but i hope a vampire houses in media ranking is in the works
I love love love love love love love love this binge i am now upon, hitting me with them good ol' 7th grade trauma fascination barely two minutes in, you know how to keep an audience focused and also googling ............ also not the fences in the sims 4 vampire ep being my favorites and suddenly I'm called out,
That subtle “Remember Me” reference though
Found my way over to this video from the Gilmore Girls video. A there’s a secondary connection between the videos. Lorelei tells Emily about Frank Loyd Wright’s family and the fire in one episode when Emily was being particularly damning of her maids. 😅
I was not expecting that sentence to end that way omfg 😂😭
Speaking of Vampires, 'The Interview with a Vampire' has such good architecture . We do get some detailed AD tour
The “remember me” line is a 10/10
would love to see a video about the knives out house
7:35 I laughed out loud :D
If you want a vampirey vampire house I HIGHLY recommend watching the series What We Do In the Shadows
Brillant
I know almost nothing about Twilight or the Cullens, but I live in PDX, love modern architecture and adore dark forests.
This is just absolutely hilarious!! 😂🧛🏻♂️
I applaud this video (and refuse to add a clapping emoji bc I balk at your expectations) 👍
this did NOT disappoint
The remember me reference has me screaming
The Sim tangent made me cackle 😂I feel very seen
The MCR loreeee!
The Cullen house is just beautiful
