Sun'n'Fun... I've thrown that around in my head a few times. But I'm just not sure. Quebec City is a pretty great place to fly for along weekend. There seem to be a few pilots based at CYOO here in your comment section; when the weather clears / warms we should meetup.
Hi Owner of a diamond star and Grumman tiger. Based In Ottawa. Go out east. Digby, Halifax, Charlottetown, and Port Hawkesbury all airports I’ve been to. Also do Killarney for the fish and chips as a day trip. Mont Laurier has a nice restaurant right on field. So does Lachute. I also go to US a bit. Burlington Vermont, Lake Placid all fun places. And I love flying into Teterboro. Try white Plains as well, a little less frantic. And finally my real favourites are Montauk and East Hampton in NY state, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. All hard places to get to unless you have a plane😊. Expensive in summer, busy but really worth it. I will listen for your call sign and say hi one of these days if we cross paths.
Hey Chris, thanks for reaching out. I love those ideas. We’ve done Killarney a few times, it’s one of our favourite places to go, whether it’s just for lunch or for a few days of hiking. I’ll look into the other places you mentioned, and next time I’m in Ottawa it would be great to meet up.
Thanks Chris. I’d love to go the Nfld and St Pierre et Miquelon. It’s something I’ve looked at and planned out on ForeFlight multiple times. 😀 but that crossing over cold water still has me a bit apprehensive. Ditching between Florida and the Bahamas is a very different proposition than ditching into 3 degree Celsius water south of Newfoundland. 😀 But someday for sure.
Sun-n-Fun again for me... VFR, although slightly more difficult finding the weather window than going to Oshkosh. Last year worked out great. And east coast is on my list too.
@@WingsOverTO not so much Florida; but the latter. I find getting in and out of Ontario to be the fun part. VFR here; I prefer doing it in one day so I admit that that limits my window. In 2022, guys were scudding out of SOnt on the Sunday before the show under 800-1200' ceilings. I chose to bail, but I scare easily. In 2023, the weekend weather going down before the show was going to be crappy too, but the whole week before was good so I jumped the gun and I spent the extra 5 days flying around Florida... great times spent at Cedar Key eating seafood and watching sunsets, and at Wachula's gyro days where I took my first flight in one, and then camping at the glider airstrips on the west side of Orlando's Bravo. On the way back I was racing an icing airmet that was coming west across SMichigan. After launching from Greater Portmouth, flight service was a great help by keeping me posted on where the leading edge of it was. But I know that you IFR guys don't have this kind of fun.😜
@@swiftadventurer I know exactly what you mean. My trip to the Bahamas back in 2022 was before I got my IFR ticket, and I had to deal with the same scud running as you. It probably wasn’t scud running the way most people would define it, but it certainly felt like it to me! And the instrument rating unfortunately doesn’t help 6 months of the year up here when you don’t have a plane that’s certified FIKI. I hardly fly in the winter, either.
Thanks for sharing. Can’t go wrong with Charleston or Savannah being two of our favourite stops. We are currently limited to extended travel between Christmas and mid-April due to my work schedule so our excursions are to the south. Distant future plans include the east coast first followed by the northwest. Likely a few years away so looking forward to following along on your trips. Take care and all the best.
The northwest would be terrific, it’s definitely on my long term list. I need a) more time and b) some experience and knowledge of mountain flying first. Thanks for watching and reaching out!
You already know I love your content. Great, as usual. I flew almost 300 hrs last year. This year so far, I'm at 2 because of the crappy weather. I am planning to fly 700 this year if everything goes as planned. Im in S IL. Nashville, New Orleans, and FL sounds awesome. We're definitely flying to FL in the coming months.
I know it might not seem like much but take us to New Foundland, Prince Edward island, places like that where most Americans never visit! I think we will be headed there this fall on a cruise ship as we have been up that way a few times and really enjoy it. I plan to take my Sierra to some of those Beech fly ins if I can around the country, that would be fun going to new places. Remember, avoid Florida in the Summer, thunderstorms and bumpy rides all around. I think I flew 40 hours last year. With the plane down and a new baby, I barely touch the plane. I'm on dad dudy most of the day before I go into my evening job.
That’s a great idea and something I’ve explored. It’s been a long time since I’ve been out east and doing a full tour from the Gaspe and further east would be so much fun. Thanks for reaching out!
Nice man! Next time you're in my hood (Teterboro KTEB), let me know. It would be nice to meet you. Lunch is on me. If you can fly in the NY airspace, you can fly anywhere, lol 😂
Hi Kamal, Happy New Year....keep it up !! I am jealous as I haven't been able to fly much these days....being back to work.....but hope to get back to it soon. Stay well, Have fun....David
Good to hear from you, Dave, and Happy New Year! Yeah, this was my first flight in almost 5 weeks, too. :) Let me know when you've got some time to get together, would be good to see you.
If you find yourself in the west end of Ontario, drop in to the Field of Dreams, or just give me a call and I can meet you at CYHD for a driving tour (if you don't want to land on the grass)
Love your flying videos and conversation. Will love to have your wife back in the front. My suggestion is making a little longer trip and fly down to Texas. Nassa space center and Galveston old homes will give you something to enjoy. I promise to treat you to the best BBQ in the nation. Thanks for the entertainment.
Thanks Bernie that’s a great idea. That nephew of my wife’s actually moved to Houston a couple months ago for a job so it would be a nice way to visit him and get to meet you as well. Will let you know if we make it down there!
I’d love to come out there. That’s definitely a bigger trip that would also require me to learn about mountain flying, which would be fun. Probably not this year though. Cape Breton is a must do for sure!

Definitely. Maybe we can plan a BBQ and fly out in the spring together.
Keep the videos coming my friend they're truly inspirational for me. I crushed the PSTAR exam today :)
Sweet, congratulations!

Oh is the weather a challenge even in April in Florida? Is it thunderstorms down there or more icing along the way that’s the problem?

Thanks for your great videos! I especially learned a lot from your IFR and cross-the-border videos! (I am also in CYOO).
Thanks so much! That's awesome that you're in CYOO, we should plan a get-together for folks when the weather warms up.

Wow, 300 hours! That's incredible, and if you get to 700 without being a professional pilot, I'll be truly amazed. Good luck, and thanks for watching!

Great work, watching you and @diamondeyz6333 has provided me with guidance and inspiration. I am also based in Toronto.

Hey Bill, thanks for the offer! We keep talking about wanting to fly to the parks along Lake Superior so it’s a definite possibility!

I guess the Shuswap/Okanagan is too far, eh!😅 If you head down east, don’t miss Cape Breton, home of the best east coast music!
