This video describes the troubleshooting and mod of a Hewlett Packard 412A VTVM. The unit is modified to use LED's in place of incandescent lamps to drive the chopper amplifier.
Excellent modification. I suggest wrapping the bulbs, to cushion them, putting them in a container and securing them inside the case, for future restoration.
I bought one at a good price. I am thinking of using banana plugs so I can use different cables, however, I see on lines are grounded. Not sure how that will work out. I might test before committing.

Thanks t1d100, I followed your suggestion . Some day , many years form now, someone will open the case and wonder what those glass things are :)
