*_"The worst part about having a mental illness is that people expect you to behave as if you don't."_*
That hits hard.
That quote is absolutely spot-on. In my youth, I was prescribed drugs "aimed at making (my) behavior more controllable and tolerable". One reason for this is that the community's mental health clinic did not have psychotherapy. Behaving as if I didn't have one was exactly what I had to do during my high school years. The guidance counselor was no help - she was like Juno from Beetlejuice. I was on the brink of suicide - couldn't let on - and no one cared as long as I wasn't acting out.
At 50, I was put on a 72-hour psych hold for expressing an opinion that made some people uncomfortable. My wife could not put her anger over this aside for one second. I wanted out of there so bad, I had to act normal, even with the prospect of my wife leaving me. It did work.
Last year, she left this world. A loss too great for words. Many of the people that were in my life were in it because they were in hers, and most of them abandoned me. One couple in particular treated me like trash.
I feel I could die at home, and no one would know or care until the stench made it past the walls.

He deserves more love
Me2, But real hug, therapists that its their job, or girls who wants my money its not really warm hug, its like masterbation.
And this won't happen, maybe after my coming soon death
Yes..this is exactly what happens, when human being doesn't get those loving hugs and noticing.. but many abandoned, no loved people don't survive to this bottom edge, when he/she can become something like Arthurs Joker is...Arthur is psychologically strong individual and highly intelligent man with emotions, which are unsatisfied, because he didn't get genuine love and care taking in his whole past life..his whole past life made him reborn to JOKER.

He wasn't Mentally ill he just spent his whole life trying to make sense of things he experienced while being treated like shit and pushed pills to deal with it. Pushing drugs on people without understanding whether or not it's emotional trauma or a chemica/biological imbalance can have devastating results.
He's purposely portrayed as a schizophrenic.
Onyxsolo are you fucking stupid ofc he’s mentally ill 🤡🤡
@@nehaswamy9920 Before you go calling people stupid you might want to learn to read and take things into context. That's a skill I learned in pre-school. First off I said he "wasn't" Mentally ill. As a kid he was abused, someone internalizing and developing psychological defensive skills to cope with abuse is not mental illness genius. Also, giving pills to someone without understanding the difference between a mental illness and mental abuse can cause tragic results like in Jokers case. Sometimes those tragic results are temporary if identified in time. However, they can also CAUSE life long mental disorders/illness as a result of altering someones chemical balance when it really wasn't needed. You can argue whether his current state is pure mental illness or a result of his anger and genius becoming volatile due to the pills he was given. But he was NOT mentally ill before that. And it's sad people like you confuse the child abuse he went through with mental illness.
@@onyxsolo1 I dont think it was all the pills though, as one, Gotham is a crime hangout, there is so much crime to the fact that people leave their doors unlocked probably because they know that their house could get broken into anyways and its probably a waste of time. Mentality is not only affect by internal, but external situations as well. Also yes he probably wasn't ill in his childhood until abuse took place in his life. And all he ever knew was abuse and violence, he tried to look past the fact that it isnt a perfect world out there yet he still became the joker. But I do think that he was a bit mentally ill.
Onyxsolo may I ask you a question no offense? Are you a Scientologist. I’m mentally I’ll and always will be , I was abused by my Mother and molested by her two brothers being my Uncle’s and she New!!! And did nothing the beatings continued because she was jealous and accused my poor father of having molested me, Which he did not, then He left home because of this didn’t see him for most of my life, this caused me great trauma, Then she got married again and she got jealous of him and said I had sex with him because he would stop her from beating me, then when I got engaged and she told my fiancé that , and after that I got pregnant and she said in front of my husband and stepfather, so he left too and my husband started beating me because he believed her , ignoring my daughter as her father, threatening me he’d kill me if I left him and I took 10 years of this, till I escaped. I raised three daughters on my own. And my mother tried to take my first daughter from me because she said my daughter belong to my stepfather. I have suicidal ideation and am bipolar which is a chemical imbalance, the pills yes have side effects but if I were to not take them , let’s just say I feel like the joker, except I couldn’t hurt anyone one , but I pray, you think abuse does not make you sick? Your wrong she destroyed me and five brothers that’s another book so Shut Up!!
First time I saw this I cried, because I’m also a mentally ill loner. Joaquin is brilliant as Joker 💚
Bro same I have ADHD but I’m not a loner
Amen
When I watched this movie in theaters it was so real to me that it was unnerving, Joaquin was incredible, what a performance and the whole movie was a masterpiece.
wish I could’ve seen it in it’s full immersive experience, found it on Netflix (I think) a solid 3+ years after it was released
"The worst part of having a mental illness is people expect you to behave as if you don't."
No the worst part is having behaved as if I don't for the past 50 years. This movie touched me because I know what it is to be on the verge of snapping, mental break, knowing right from wrong and though I do right, others without mental illness keep doing wrong. Makes me wonder at times if I am the one with the mental illness or is it really everyone else with the wreckage of the mind?
Yep go through it last 45 yrs too myself. Nature, animals and music sometimes help. Blessings.
Sitting here with a beer in my hand in my NYC apartment, bills piled up I can't afford to pay, wishing the darkest things about the meter maid who gave me $150 worth of tickets as I was walking back to my car from taking my aging dying father to an medical appointment which I took off work for.
And it brings me such ridiculous peace to think of this POS human being splayed out in the street in a pool of his own blood.
I think I might actually be losing it.
@@levity90 "Losing it" doesn't have to be scary or bad. People who "lose it" don't know they are, you have a clue. Since you know it, go with it rather than fight it. When I "lost it" I went through all the violent thoughts, but while entertaining them in my mind for a spell I came across a door in my brain. That door has a large sign on it that reads "FUCK IT! DON'T CARE!" When I enter that door, all the woes, concerns, injustices etc slip immediately away. I deal with the "right now"; what can I fix or make better "RIGHT NOW"? Nothing? Well fuck it, don't care. I'm going to do right now what is relaxing to self which is NOIT THINKING about the stupid shit I can't control! Tomorrow I will ask self the same question "What can I do now, today to make things better?" Nothing again? OFF to the DOOR!
This does not excuse me from doing what I can, when I can. Doers not excuse me from from entering the rat race to get things done, but though I'm in it, I through a got damn monkey wrench in it every chance I get. I say "Excuse me" to someone I'm passing in a store isle and they do not acknowledge me in the slightest I will add "Don't excuse me, I don't give a shit!" Their bemused expression is a pay off, if they understand or not "I DON'T CARE!".
I've watched the truly insane, most really don't have a care in the world; they smile and laugh more than anyone I know, they are pleasant people (I'm not talking about violent, criminally insane, I'm talking those that are in la la land). People like you and I can understand our cheese is on the edge of the cracker, but we don't have to let it fall completely off. There is some real satisfaction to ones cheese being at the edge.
Someone once told me, "there's nothing wrong with you, the world not so much. " as someone who has been through unspeakable traumas. Maybe you can understand this.
@@jeliarraI’ve through the same thing. Injustices and all that shit.
Sometimes you have to take an axe to a sick tree, that tree is society. History has shown this over and over again.

I would have to agree.

That one scene where Arthur is laughing/crying alone in his apartment and can’t stop hits me so hard because I used to get insomnia at night and I was really depressed at the time so I would literally be on the floor crying because night effects my mood especially when the house is dark and silent and everyone’s sleeping.
