- Brett Somers star of stage screen and television has just passed on into the great unknown. Here are some great moments with Brett who helped us all laugh while she was here.
Brett Somers and Charles Nelson Reilly were class acts and pure comedy. I will never forget them. The "Match Game" years were some of the funniest years ever in the history of television.
Brett always makes me laugh when I watch her on youtube, RIP Brett
Here's to Brett Somers and the rest of Match Game 1978, they are gone except Betty White, best game show ever.
We all need to think about the world we're going to leave behind for Betty White...
Brett Somers was a truly versatile, multi-talented comedic/dramatic performer.
This was beautiful! I was surprised (but then again not) that even in her later, post-MG years she still looked fantastic. Aging gracefully does exist! Wherever Brett is, she is looking down smiling at this wonderful tribute. Jack should be proud himself.
Been watching clips of Match Game for the past few months on line, and then to come across this gem. That was more than a wonderful tribute. Thanks for this.
She really did carry herself as if she was in charge on Match Game! Her spot was like a throne, and when she sat anywhere else it was weird! Her chemistry with Charles was the best part about the show!
Loved Brett
watched match game way then...big fan. Brett was my favorite...now I get to see her again on the GSN every day. amazing how good those shows were, and how well they hold up. amazing panel, but Brett was best...the 'fun' mom I never had. I still love her.
Brett was my favorite,,,always funny & pretty at her age
I don't care what some people say about Brett being annoying or an attention hog; I loved her and what she brought to the show! Here's to the Queen of Match Game!
@Tom Thumb Haha on one level I disagree with you, but on another level I wholeheartedly concur!
A wonderful tribute. Good on ya. Thank you for the laughter Brett. R.I.P
Three years ago today that Brett passed away - the world hasn't had as much bawdy laughter since!
Love it thankyou
Brett, my all-time favorite match game panelist and, because of her chemistry with Charles, why match game is my all-time favorite game show. Her laugh was infectious and I can only imagine what going to lunch with those two would’ve been like.
6:16 -- "Now, don't shout at me, because I'm almost finished!"
Miss Betty: (chuckle) "I'll say!"
Gotta love both of 'em! :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS. The "son" in the guy played in "Lost in Space," right? Mark Goddard who played "Charlie Jay" in this movie. Unfortunately, at the end of the movie, Brett wasn't credited. What a lovely woman. She was definitely a pill AND a card, for sure. Miss her so much. Miss the "good ole' days" when TV was actually funny and was a thrill to watch.
Poor Jack, to have to say goodbye to Brett after so many years. She was the queen. Rest in peace Ms. Somers, thanks again for all the joy you gave us.
I embedded this on my LiveJournal. Thank you.
You enabled me to show so much more love for her than I was capable of sans a fabulous montage like this. She would be proud. Again- Thank you.
It's ever so "Brett".
Her and Charles Nelson Riley are in heaven making the lord laugh for eternity. RIP Brett, who died of colon cancer on Sept 15th.
Just wonderful, I loved Brett, thank you so much!
Miss you Brett!!!
GOD BLESS YOU FOR THIS! It is SO deserved! THAK YOU!!!!
Hi. Wasn't she a classy lady? I discovered MG by accident on UA-cam. I'm English, so never heard of MG. But It really is TV gold!
Indeed, and it actually spawned a successful UK version, titled "Blankety Blank"
She and Charles Nelson were quite a pair !
I just found out she passed away only three and a half months after her good buddy Charles did...
I'm sure they're rockin' on in Spirit world!
God bless them and thank them for all the laughs they gave xxx000
She really helped make match game fun! What a talented person she was!
I watch this EVERYDAY its my Favorite Tribute! I LOVE U BRETT SOMERS!!!!!
She and Charles Nelson Reilly are together again in eternity, along with Gene Rayburn, still cracking up the Lord in heaven
BRETT SOMERS IS MY GODMOTHER
Brett was Match Game's strongest celebrities! I just found out today, 10/01, she died! RIP Brett!
this was great..thanks for this
As I read, Brett was born in Halcomb, New Brunswick, near where I live. I didn't really know that until I looked it up. Later sources told me that Brett was born in Saint John, New Brunswick. Interestingly enough, there aren't too many people around here who know who Brett Somers was, nor has anyone around here ever made any reference to her.
Her and CNR & Richard held the show together!
Brett also played Jack Klugman's ex-wife on the Odd Couple.
RIP Brett in heaven I sure hope.
God Bless you Brett!!! Say hello to Jack!!!
And Charles and Gene, and Richard
Bret was Dyn-O-Mite !
I love that! Nicely done.
What's the music at the end ?
Brett was an angel. Eff Jack Klugman!
Brilliant!!!!!!!!!! TY
Brett and Charles were the highlight of the show and Elaine Joyce, I still have a crush on her.
What an AWESOME tribute to the QUEEN of MG. LURVED her comraderie with Gene, Betty Fannie and esp.Charles...oh and Dawson.
Yes from 73-76 she was fabulous...but I liked Brett no matter the year as she was just HIGHLY entertaining on MG. BTW...I think she looked better without the wigs.
Thanks!!!
Funny how she always referred to Jack Klugman by his first and last name.
RIP Brett Somers 5yrs Today
Pleshette looking so young..
Elizabeth Taylor uttered it in 1960's BUTTERFIELD 8. I am sure that was more of a shocker.
Rest in Peace Brett!
Was that "Don" from "lost in Space?
it is
It looks like Don form Lost it Space.
From Wilipedia: ...Maj. Don West (Mark Goddard).....
What song was that?
What movie was that ?? It looked good! That was Mark Goodard and I believe Susan Pleshette.
I honestly was surprised to hear "slut" spoken in 1965 -- thought it was a more modern word(!)
I DON'T THINK BRETT SUMMERS COULD GET ANYTHING ELSE IN HOLLYWOOD SHE ACTED IN SHOWS BEFORE BUT WHO DOES 9 SEASONS OF A GAME SHOW BETTY WHITE AND RICHARD AND CHARLES DID BOTH TV FILMS AND MATCH GAME AND BETTY WAS PRETTY I DON'T THINK CHARLES OR RICHARD LIKE HER UGLY ASS EITHER 😂 BUT I LOVE THE SHOW BECAUSE OF BETTY WHITE AND JIMMY WALKER WAS FUN BRETT WAS A WASHED UP ACTRESS AT THAT TIME THATS WHY SHE DID IT FOREVER JIMMY WALKER GAVE A INTERVIEW AND SAID THAT BRETT WAS DRUNK ON SOME EPISODES THE WAY SHE LAUGHED I WOULDN'T PUT IT PASS HER😂😂😂
As a child, I thought Brett Summers was only famous for being famous.
That's Suzanne Pleshette!
kiheisun
Bret Somers may have been a nice person. But she was the most obnoxious panelist in Match Game history. She had a constant loud cackle that resembled a machine gun, and after EVERY question posed by the great Gene Rayburn, she had to either make a comment about, question it, or ask for him to repeat it. She acted as though she was the ONLY panelist who mattered. Don't know if this was a result of her admitted alcoholism, or if it was not only tolerated, but encouraged by the Match Game producers. One thing is for sure. No one DISCOURAGED it, as the show's director seemingly gave her as much camera time as Gene Rayburn had. The Match Game was, in my opinion, the greatest game show in history. But, sadly, Bret Somers was a stain on it. Hate to speak ill of the departed, but just wondered if anyone else feels the same way.
Get cancer and rot in hell. Thank you.
AMEN AND I DON'T THINK THEY LIKED HER THE OTHER CELEBRITIES
SHE GOT MATCH GAME BECAUSE SHE WAS A WASHED UP ACTRESS WHO DOES A GAME SHOW FOR THAT LONG SHE WAS LOUD AND UGLY WHEN THE CONTESTANT TRIED FOR 5000 WHEN THEY CALLED ON SOMEONE SHE WAS ALWAYS LOOKING OVER THE CELEBRITY SHOULDER AS THEY WROTE THEIR ANSWERS LOUD ASS LAUGHING BETTY WHITE DID NOT LIKE HER SHE SAID IT IN A INTERVIEW AND JIMMY WALKER SAID SHE WOULD BE DRUNK TELL THE TRUTH WHEN YOUR A WORKING ACTOR YOU CAN'T ACT AND DO A GAME SHOW IN THE SAME DAY THIS WOMAN WAS NOT A IN DEMAND ACTRESS AFTER ODD COUPLE 😋
Err... Brett Somers wasn't the queen of anything. Perhaps the queen of stupidity. Couldn't stand her annoying laughs either. Ever notice that no one matched her ridiculous answers?
Some of them actually have matched her answers.
