for me personally the lines on the front end of the b8 look better, the way the hood lines follow through to the bottom of the front bumper. but the rear of the b8.5 is better imo.

I think that the exterior looks of the B8 is so sexy so it looks better than the B8.5, however, I think that the whole interior of the B8.5 is way more cool than the B8.
@@dominick470 lmao it’s been a love hate relationship, bought at 79k now at 127k. They’re very reliable cars but with mileage they can get maintenance heavy. I’ve gotten tons of trouble free miles but recently she’s been on jackstands every few months.
@@dominick470 def go for a B8.5, manual if you can, auto is fine 2014+. Expect chain rattle, anything under 3 seconds is “okay”. The most detrimental problems are pretty much supercharger intercoolers leaking, pcv, water pump (pre facelift), clogged cats, and chain tensioners(honestly not bad compared to the previous gen s4s v8 chain issues). Autos like to go through mech units. Don’t think your safe with 6mt though because an input shaft bearing can nuke your transmission (ask me how i know). But overall 9/10, would recommend just be ready to maintain the car and it’ll take care of you, great cars.

Missed the most important thing to look for imo which is timing chain rattle on start-up. The only way to tell is to have the car sit over night and see if the oil drains from the tensioners. While common and supposedly not catastrophic, it's annoying and definitely something to consider when looking for any supercharged 3.Ot.

went with the b8.5 because of the steering wheel, the newer mmi (still outdated compared to new ones, was thinking about putting a different screen in there for android auto and stuff), the shift was a big one, and i just like the look of the grille, headlights, and taillights so much better. used to like the b8's headlights more, but overtime it grew soft. I love the aggressive look on the b8.5 so much more now. and any time i see a b8, i just cant get an imagine of that god AWFUL shift knob out of my head LMAO.
the mmi is an optional thing, i have a b8.5 and unfortunatly the first ower cheaped out on the mmi system, so i can only make calls with bluetooth, not even blast music with it ( so not just a b8 thing ) .. the solution i found for that and made my car music suitable is buying a Tune2air with the audi mmi cable which can then be plugged in into the mmi adapter and the connection seems to be solid so far (using it for half a year ) i can also vouch for getting the sport diff aswell (even thought i don't have it) the s4 tend to oversteer quite easily when going to fast into corners, can be fixed by NOT going fast into a corner & blast your throttle once you're in it but still.. im hoping to fix this with H&R Sway bars in the future ( wish i just had the sport diff though ) overall the car seems to be pretty solid as a daily driver.. me personally im not the type of guy who needs a full option car, as long as i have decent seats, a sun roof and in this case a DSG automatic i'm happy, it also came with carbon trims & a full black interior with half alcantara seats, so basically all i desire, except for not having the sport diff that is.
I hear of a lot of different issues with the transmission in the B8, mainly being the G676 sensor. Should I just focus on the B8.5 cause of that or is the issue the same on those? I’m simply looking at getting one and just going stage one and probably not much more, can the stock trans and stock clutch handle that? Thanks for the great info!

I own a 2012 Lincoln MKS eco boost it’s a 3.5l v6 twin turbo awd and i love it but it seems to be broken every couple months, i have heard the B8.5 is more reliable than the B8 but wasn’t sure if that was completely true. Been looking into this and a Cadillac ATS-v but this would be the cheaper option. I have never owned a foreign car because my dad is an engineer on classic muscle cars and he always tells me to stay away from them because of how expensive the repairs are. Please let me know!
These differences are only for the US market. In Europe we don't get flat bottom steering wheels unless its a top spec S and Pro line model. Same goes for the shifters unfortunately :(

cars in the 2000s shouldn't be compared by age as they have plenty of tech in them. SO what if its 10 years old thats mostly a mind game unless you meamt financing that i dont do
I prefer not to have the tech in my Audi. Makes me more of a true driver. Without the backup camera and parking sensors and blind spot monitoring. I can drive anything without those. Those of you who're used to those things have to second guess. Not me!

Just bought my 2010 s4 manual trans clean title 42k miles for $18k from a reputable dealership last fall. I got super lucky, was looking for months and jumped on this deal immediately when it was posted. I wish I had keyless entry and sport diff but still very happy with my purchase. Keep looking, deals are out there.
The manuals are not rare BUT getting all the desirable options can be like looking for a unicorn. Most folks did not order the excellent B&O stereo, the drive select option was more common but and the amazing trick diff had a very low take rate so tough to find. Great cars when you get them properly equipped but it's a search for sure as most folks selling them often just list them as "loaded" when they are anything but. To really know, look at the panel covering the spare wheel in the trunk and take a photo of the option list. Then decode them using one of the online tools to really see what is on the car...
Can you ask the b8.5 owner where he got his s4 badges? I was looking for some yellow ones to match my calipers and fogs but couldnt find anywhere to buy them. I was just going to use some vinyl if nothing else
another option is b8society on instagram. they sell precut s4/supercharged emblem overlays with plenty of different colors for just a few bucks. Really easy to put on. I did gold for mine, and i really like it. Adds just a little bit more personality/uniqueness to the car. Since most people do the same mods (ecs cf diffuser, cf lip spoiler, cf front splitter, etc), you probably dont wanna look the same as everyone else lol.
In general, 100k miles is quite a bit for European cars. Bushing, lines, gaskets all start aging. parts get mileaged out or they weather causing decay. Inevitable fate with cars.

I have a b8 s4 manual a must for me for the sport car feel- I also just bought a c7 A6 3.0t and the automatic zf8 trans is good for me only as a 1/4. - but I didn’t like the canyons with auto - manual a must for the full control - auto needs a trans tune a must - maybe once I tune I’ll like it a bit more just not enough as manual -

Easiest way to see if the car has the trick diff is go into the settings for drive select > individual and if the car has it, it will be listed.

.5 means facelift. Most all internals stay relatively the same.
I believe they changed the steering to electric on the .5 as compared to hydraulic. You get better road feel with hydraulic.
