Small precision about Gathering Storm's Friends of the Storm node. The minions need to use a lightning skill for it. So it works with Storm Crows or through conversions like Storm Wolves. But Thorn Totems won't generate it (or that's a bug). Storm Totem would work. Anyway it's not a big deal, We generate stacks quite quickly when we use Gathering Storm and still get base +5 mana from the Tempest Form Shaman passive. But you could put the base Storm Crows instead of Fury Leap in the skill bar. They will die a lot however. By the way I found the Wolves to generate more stacks than the Crows, they are more reliable because way tankier thanks to the Shaman's Bond skill tree node. (Someone commented about it but it seems they deleted it just now, before I replied)
Thank you for your answer! It was I that commented but wanted to rephrase it but you replied faster :) Could you change Thorn Totem for wolves or crows?
@@NiklasTinnsten you could do that but then you lose 40% cold damage per totem from the idols. So you would loose some damage but do what you want! Replace the idols if you do. You'll definitely get a lot more of Storm Bolt stacks. Remember to get at least one from manually attacking otherwise minions don't generate them
I was thinking for gathering storm, couldnt you just convert it cold by taking some points off island cleaver. You can then convert thorn totems to cold and it should proc friends of the tempest. What do you think? Ill personally test it out when I get home but I just want to hear your thoughts.
@@haisha1734 ooh I had not thought about that... I have converted Gathering Storm to cold on my Frostbite version of the build (check my other video about it), but I removed the Friends of the Tempest points. It might work but not 100% sure. Anyway it's not mandatory just generating stacks from attacking is enough, we just want mana. You can also use Swipe for that purpose, it gives +9 mana on hit and some buffs!
hey mate great guide, started to work on it, can you please share your rotation I'm kinda not be able to follow it from the video, my bad I know. Kinda suffering from mana issues, a rotation would be great.
Hey! so the most important parts are 1. keep 6 maelstrom stacks by activating Warcry Totem basically on cooldown. The procs from kills/hitting rares/bosses will help a lot too. 2. cast Avalanche once per pack, maybe 2-3 times on rares. On bosses try not to use all your mana at once 3. Attack with Gathering Storm to regenerate mana when needed When fighting bosses or mini-bosses, throw down your thorn totems every 10-ish seconds for a damage boost. Not necessary but worth it! It's impossible to not get any mana issue basically, Avalanche costs too much. But yeah try to get mana regen everywhere, mana cost reduction on skill trees, wand or sceptre with -3 to mana cost (helps a lot with the constant cost of Maelstrom). You can watch my latest video for a new version which is Frostbite-based, but very similar overall. It uses more mana though because I use the Upheaval procs, so maybe don't spec into the Upheaval nodes before your mana management feels better
Hey so the weird thing is Upheaveal is a melee attack and Avalanche a spell. So you would have to scale them in a hybrid way. I haven't tried it yet but staffs have good base melee & spell damage, so focussing on scaling crit & cold damage (or physical damage) could work! Or not going crit but trying to get as much frostbite as possible. I'll give it a thought, in my experience hybrid builds don't work as well as pure spell or pure melee. But for DoT like Frostbite it basically doesn't matter if it's hybrid or not
hey it's late for me rn but on the last epoch tools build planner you can generate a loot filter based on the items of the build. It's a button to the left I'll have to review what it looks like, the one I use is hand-made (I often make small changes as I go). when I wake up I'll make sure to upload it
Hey here you go pastebin.com/ExM5VBmz It will highlight the best rare base(s) for each slot with at least one of the best prefixes. E.g. all Brass/Silver/Bone/Oracle amulets with Mana Regeneration or Cold Penetration, Temple/Dragon Staffs with crit multiplier or spell crit chance. Feel free to modify it for more or less restrictions!
