Ahead of our Team NZ Drift coverage this August, Cole Armstrong Drift has released exclusive never before seen footage from onboard the the V Energy R34 during the unfortunate first lap practice crash with Khudar El Haouli during the Tectaloy International Drift Challenge in Sydney last year.
The team would be forced to write off the iconic Skyline ahead of the D1NZ season and build the new R34 4-Door which then went on to qualify first at Round 1 that year.

man when youre mid drift at those speeds its veeeeeerry hard to avoid a situation like that. he had already begun his drift before he could see what had happened, theres no getting out of that. and you can see clear as day that he had applied the brakes to try and stop it or at very least reduce his speed of impact knowing it was coming...

i was in a situation similar to this but i slammed into a bank i was sliding round a corner and a van was coming the other way i went off road to avoid him as i was doin the illegal thing but he did the same i had no choise but to put my foot down and keep the slide goin was going to write the car off either way but didnt wana pay for someone elses car or fines etc so hit the bank bent the chassis and broke the radiator, just a peice of shit 500 dolla ford sierra wagon so who cares haha
