The Wing-T Offense gets a lot of hate on social media.
Many coaches say it’s an offense for Dumb coaches.
Well I disagree. The Wing-T Offense is a freaking deadly offense when ran correctly.
That’s why in today’s video, we talk about why you SHOULD run the Wing-T offense.

Today on offensive breakdown, I break down NFL schemes that get covered by the likes of QB School and Brett Kollmann. That’s right, the spread offensive breakdown is seen in NFL offenses and are covered by the QB School and Brett Kollmann
Not NFL Offense, But brett kollmann breaks down NFL game film and offensives. This QB School like offensive breakdown goes deep into the NFL spread concepts and how high school football can use NFL style plays covered by brett kollmann and QB School

As a hs QB, my best season came from running the spread and throwing the ball around the yard… but as a hs assistant coach, running wing-T concepts has helped our team a lot. I’m a big believer in running an offense that fits the personnel best, so I feel torn in what scheme I like our kids running

    I run a shotgun Wing-T no huddle.
We pass alot with air raid passing concepts and we run so much misdirection.
Ps: I am from Germany and we play 9 man football.

So you're a air raid team that runs gap schemes?

Yes, buck sweep, criss cross counter and qb counter.

Ah the sugar huddle. The Slot T mafia’s revolver.

Regarding clock control: PJ Fleck and MN Gophers utilize clock control pretty effectively even from the no-huddle. A lot of sideline checks and changing the play and snapping with under 5 on the play clock. Take their loss to OSU (9/2/21) in which they were very outmatched at the skilled positions yet still were competitive into the late 4th quarter. OSU TOP: 21:19, MN TOP: 38:41. Or two years ago when they beat Auburn in the bowl game; MN TOP: 37:35 vs. Auburn TOP: 22:25. My point is that I see clock control being an effective tool for even spread zone/RPO teams.

Yep, he did the same thing in his upset win over Penn State that first year. I’d need to use Google to find the exact numbers, but I know they raced out to a big lead then dialed the tempo back

Went look it up, it was 35:01 for MN to 24:59 for PSU in that game

I think those are all valid points and one of the interesting misconceptions is that Wing T offenses cannot pass. The reality is you can do quite a bit with up to four vertical routes at any given time and possibly a fifth if you choose to do so.
I absolutely love the ideal of going against the grain. This works because it does force people to adjust to something they just don't deal with enough.

To pass out of it though you need to be running the ball well

      @@CoachMcKie yes and no.
I can zoom the Z across with a RT/Weak formation and throw a Bubble or Look Screen into the now Twins Look which will either force the OLB to widen or the $ to trail with leverage. If the defense decides to pull the $ as the trailer I have the HB now in position to run a Seam/Post reading the $ to cross face with motion. This will lighten the box for lead plays and even the Rocket Toss if they keep a sound front. But it does mean that there has to be kids who can catch and throw. I'm also a huge fan of integrating the concepts I've seen here and on a few other sites with compressed formations and rules from the Wing T

But you have to get enough reps with your players in practice so that they can execute it. That's the whole thing I'm talking about. To be great at something you have to suck at a lot of other things.

@@CoachMcKie and that's the beauty of it.
Series A is the Buck Dive Trap Waggle Waggle Go
Slip, Bubble and Pump n Go all the passes we get the same action to the defense with minor adjustments on our side. And I love the simplicity of the Air Raid in honing a sword to it's sharpest point. I also understand that the Wing T can be run out of Spread looks. The guys in Texas run that Slot T with a purpose on every play.
