Why was the promise of God to Abraham recorded for our own benefit?
For the Glory of God! Promises like that one and many others in the old testament point to the faithfulness of the true, promise-keeping, God we have.
All his promises are yes, and amen. And they have, or will be fulfilled.

ACTS 15:1-41 , " 1.And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
( Circumcision means to remove something . In the covenant with Abraham , it is the removing of the flesh of foreskin ; which is the completion of the creation started by God , on the first day that man was formed . Man was created in the image and likeness of God , but every other creature was made in their kind . Man was made from the dust of the ground , GOD IS NOT . God is teaching man how to become the kind . On the eighth day of man's creation , the flesh and blood of the earth will be removed , and man will become the kind .
1 Corinthians 15:49-53 , " 49.And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality ".
This covenant was not with Abraham and his seed only , but the stranger bought with his money , not of his seed .
GENESIS 17:9-14 , " 9.And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.10This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.11And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.12And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.13He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.14And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
IN GENESIS 17:13-14 , " 13He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.14And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
THIS IS ALSO FOR BELIEVING ISRAEL , AND THE STRANGER/GENTILES WHO HAST BECOME THE SEED OF ABRAHAM BY A PRICE THROUGH FAITH .
ACTS 20:28 , " 28.Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
GALATIANS 3:26-29 , " 26.For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.29And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
THE CIRCUMCISION OF FLESH OF FORESKIN IS AN EVERLASTING COVENANT WITH ABRAHAM , HIS SEED AND THE STRANGER PURCHASED WITH THE BLOOD OF JESUS .
Biblical circumcision means to make clean .
The circumcisions for the cleaning of sin went through the two mediators of the covenant between the Father & the children of Israel .
The circumcision of the heart/spirit is a sin sacrifice law of atonement through faith , through the mediator Jesus Christ , sometimes called the law of Christ ; which is repenting of your sins , then believing by obedience ; which is keeping your mediator Jesus Christ commandments ; which he received from the Father . This sin sacrifice law had many names ( law of faith , law of grace , law of righteousness , law of liberty , circumcision of heart/spirit for sin , law of Christ ; because it came under the husband/mediator/protector for the people under the covenant between the Father ) .
People forget that there was also a sin sacrifice of atonement through works , for the flesh/body ; which the God of Israel gave through the mediator Moses ; which was called the law of animal sacrifice and oblations ; which had many names ( law of animal sacrifice and oblations , law of works, law of sin and death , circumcision of flesh/body for sin , schoolmaster , whole law , law of Moses ; because it came under the husband/mediator/protector for the people under the covenant between the Father ) . Moses , like Jesus was the mediator/husband/protector/covering , for the one's under the covenant between the Father .
The key word the brethren used is SAVED ! To be saved means to be redeemed , or forgiven or justified ( made clear ) of all your past sins ; which requires a sin sacrifice of atonement ; which comes under a priesthood .
The sin sacrifice of atonement of works ( animal sacrifice & oblations ) came under the mediator Moses , through the priesthood of Leviticus ; which was not of faith ; which clean your flesh/body , not your heart/spirit . The Father requires a clean heart/spirit to be accept by him .
Psalm 51:16-17 , " 16.For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.17.The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise " .
The circumcision as of the manner of Moses is not the circumcision of flesh of foreskin , the everlasting covenant through Abraham ; because Moses did not circumcise his own child of foreskin ; also no males were circumcised of the foreskin after leaving Egypt , until the LORD told Joshua to have them circumcised of foreskin before they entered the land of Israel ( Joshua 5 ) . The circumcision as of the manner of Moses was the circumcision of flesh/body for sin ; to clean the flesh/body , not the heart/spirit ; which was the law of animal sacrifice and oblation . )
UNDERSTAND THAT THE CIRCUMCISION OF FLESH OF FORESKIN IS ONE OF GOS'S COMMANDMENTS LIKE NOT KILLING ; CIRCUMCISION OF FLESH/BODY , AND CIRCUMCISION OF HEART/SPIRIT ARE SIN SACRIFICE LAWS THROUGH THE MEDIATORS ; UNDER PRISTHOODS FOR SINS COMMITTED AGAINST THE FATHER LAWS ; WHICH GOD GAVE THROUGH THE HUSBANDS OF THE COVENANT .
2.When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
( Paul and Barnabas did not agree with the men from Judaea . The mother church was located in Jerusalem . The church is the covenant between the Father and the children of Israel , or the Woman ; with believing Gentiles grafted into this covenant through faith . The seven Churches in Asia were the remnant of the woman Israel , or the church , before Judaea was destroyed in 70 A.D. . )
3.And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
( Romans 2:11-15 , " 11.For there is no respect of persons with God.12For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;13(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.14For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:15Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another " .)
4.And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
( Acts 14:25-28 , " 25.And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:26And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.27And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.28And there they abode long time with the disciples " . )
5.But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
( The sect of the Pharisees which believed that the sin sacrifice of atonement of the heart/spirit through faith , goes through the mediator Jesus Christ ; not the blood of the animals & oblations )
( The children of Israel continued in the sacrifices & oblations for the cleaning of the body ; when it becomes unclean due to touching a dead body , woman on her monthly , purification , etc ... , but not for sin ; this came through the mediator Moses ; but the Gentiles were never under these sacrifices & oblations . The Pharisees believed that the Gentiles must be circumcised of flesh/body , when it becomes unclean , just as Israel continued in it for the flesh/body . )
6.And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
( There was much discussion pertaining to what was required of the Gentiles )
28.For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
( THE HOLY GHOST , OR HOLY SPIRIT , OR THE COMFORTER , IS THE ANGEL OF GOD'S PRESENCE ; WHICH BRINGS UNDERSTANDING OF GOD'S WORD ; WHICH IS ALSO HIS HOLY GHOST OR SPIRIT . )
( John 16:13-15 , " 13.Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.14.He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.15.All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you " . )
( John 6:63 , " 63.It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life " . )
( Isaiah 63:7-10 , " 7.I will mention the loving kindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.8For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.9.In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.10But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them " . )
( Acts 5:1-10 , " 1.But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,2And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.3But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?4Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.5And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.6And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.7And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.8And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? ( Daniel 9:20-23 , " 20.And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;21.Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.22.And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.23.At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision " . )
29.That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

30.So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:
31.Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.
( The Gentiles were circumcised of heart/spirit the same way as Abraham , not going through the circumcision of flesh/body , or the animal sacrifices & oblations ; they were circumcised through faith to righteousness , not ever gone through works . )
( Romans 4:6-17 , " 6.Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,7Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.8Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.9Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.10How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.11And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:12And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.13For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.14For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:15Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.16Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,17(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were " . )
( Romans 5:13-14 , " For until the law sin was in the world : but sin is not imputed when there is no law . Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses , even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression , who is the figure of him that was to come " ) .
What is sin ?
Answer ,
1 John3:4 , " 4.Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Paul stated that until the law ( what law ? ) , sin ; which is the transgression of the law of God was in the world ( sin came into the world when Adam transgressed against the law of God ) , but sin ; which is the transgression of the law of God is not imputed ( represents something undesirable as been done , caused , or possessed by someone ) when there is no law .
This law is not the commandments/instructions of God ; which includes all the covenants , but a sin sacrifice law that came at the time of Moses ; the law of animal sacrifice of works ; which was not of faith , but works ; ministered through the priesthood of Leviticus " . )
32And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.
( prophet [ˈpräfət] NOUN prophets (plural noun) · Prophets (plural noun) a person regarded as an inspired teacher or proclaimer of the will of God. "the Old Testament prophet, Jeremiah" )
33And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.
34Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.
35Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
36And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
37And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
38But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
39And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
40And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
41And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches
( ALL THE CHURCHES GAVE THE SAME DOCTRINE , COMIMG FROM THE MOTHER CHURCH IN JERUSALEM ; WHY ARE THERE SO MANY DOCTRINES TODAY , PROFESSING TO GIVE YOU THE SAME WORDS OF THE GOD OF ISRAEL ? )

JESUS CHRIST RIGHTEOUS LIFE WITHOUT SIN , FREE ALL FROM THE FIRST DEATH , THE GRAVE , BUT IT IS YOUR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST ( MARK 1:14-15 , " 14.Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,15And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel ". ) ; WHICH IS REPENTING OF YOU SINS WITH A SORROWFUL HEART LIKE KING DAVID , THEN BELIEVING BY OBEDIENCE ; WHICH IS KEEPING THE COMMANDMENTS OF JESUS CHRIST , THE GOSPEL ; WHICH HE RECEIVED FROM THE FATHER : THAT FREE YOU FROM THE SECOND DEATH , THE LAKE OF FIRE .

18I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
19And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
WHAT WAS DESIRED AT HOREB OR MOUNT SINAI ?
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS SPOKEN BY THE GOD OF ISRAEL , AND THE STATUTES , JUDGMENTS , COVENANTS GIVEN TO THE PEOPLE BY MOSES ; BECAUSE THEY WERE AFRAID TO HEAR IT FROM GOD .
JESUS DID ALL THE WORK FOR THE FIRST DEATH OF THE GRAVE ; WHEN ADAM TRANSGRESED THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD .
HE DID NOT EAT FROM THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL , WHICH IS SATAN , LIKE WE ALL HAVE .
HE DIED NOT FOR HIMSELF , BUT FOR ALL WHO HAST EATEN FROM IT .
NOW ALL WILL BE RESURRECTED FROM THE FIRST DEATH OF THE GRAVE , BUT CAN YOU DWELL WITH THE FATHER IN HIS KINGDOM , IF YOU DIE IN YOUR FIRST BODY IN SIN
1 JOHN 1:5-7 , " 5.This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

I AM NOT SAYING IT , THE GOD OF ISRAEL THROUGH THE COVENANT WITH ABRAHAM SAYS IT .

THE CIRCUMCISION OF FLESH OF FORESKIN IS A COVENANT ; A LAW OF THE GOD OF ISRAEL ; JUST LIKE THY SHALL NOT KILL .
THE CIRCUMCISION OF HEART/SPIRIT IS A SIN SACRIFICE LAW OF ATONEMENT THROUGH FAITH ( REPENTING OF YOUR SINS AND BELIEVING YOUR MEDIATOR CHRIST ; WHO GIVES YOU THE WORDS OF THE FATHER ) , TO JUSTIFY YOU BACK TO GOD WHEN YOU TRANSGRESS HIS LAWS ; SEE THE DIFFERENT .
IF MAN HAD NOT TRANSGRESS THE LAW OF GOD , THEN NO SIN SACRIFICE LAW OF ATONEMENT WOULD HAVE BEEN NEEDED .
THERE WAS ANOTHER SIN SACRIFICE LAW OF ATONEMENT FOR THE FLESH/BODY , THROUGH THE MEDIATOR MOSES ; WHICH WAS CALLED THE LAW OF ANIMAL SACRIFICE AND OBLATION OF WORKS .
THIS SIN SACRIFICE ATONEMENT WAS TO KEEP GOD FROM KILLING YOUR BODY , WHEN YOU TRANSGRESS HIS LAW , BUT IT COULD NOT ATONE YOUR HEART/SPIRIT , BECAUSE IT WAS NOT OF FAITH .
THIS IS WHAT JESUS CHRIST SAID AS HE BEGAN IS MINISTRY :
MARK 1:14-15 , " 14.Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15.And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
THE GOSPEL IS THE WORDS OF THE FATHER , AND THEY HAVE BEEN FROM THE BEGINNING .
HEBREWS 1:1-3 , " 1.God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2.Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

THE PROPHET MOSES TOLD TE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL THAT A PROPHET WOULD GIVE TEM ALL THAT THEY DESIRED AT HOREB OR MOUNT SINAI ; THAT PROPHET IS JESUS .
