  • This is my First Arduino project , I decided to build a Tennis Ball launching machine for use in my garden. It has 5 motors. the ball is fired by two motors rotating at 6000 rpm, The direction and elevation are controlled by 4 arrays of 29 values, therefore you can program the position and height that you want the ball fired, the four arrays are selected by a pot, so that you can select difficulty that you have pre-programmed into each array. The speed of the wheels that launch the ball are also controlled by pots, both wheels are controlled from 50% upto 100% speed, the lower wheel is controlled from another pot to reduce its speed from anywhere between 50% and 100% but not faster than the top Wheel, this allows a top spin to be added if required, the video shows the ball being launched at 70% power. The ball feed rate can be set at anything between 1 sec and 60 seconds. All parts are commonly available, I still need to add sides and paint but will be ready for Spring 2020

First of all your project is very nice, in fact I think nicer than other ones that I've seen. It would be a lot more helpful to post the code in a doc or text form. I think its unrealistic to be able to retype a 1000 lines of code straight from video. Also, it would be nice to have a little commentary on how you built it and what materials you used, etc.... But regardless, thanks for posting!

You actually do not need all that complicated metalwork for the ball track; two simple long springs, the type that pull gates closed will work.

Wondering how you will go with many balls stacked in. Ball jams will be a problem maybe.

Hi man, its great, my little son goes to tennis club, I want to construct smth like this for him so he can practice, unfortunately we don't have Amazon, but still hope someday I'll make it, I see no problem in ball firing part, but ball feeding and swinging is not yet clear to me.

Hi. Looks great! Can you please tell how did you make those ball launcher wheels?
I am also doing a similar project but my wheels are wobbling a lot, so not able to run the motors at high RPM.

Hi, Bought the wheels from internet 125mm dia. they are nylon inner with a rubber layer attached. its important to balance the wheel to eliminate vibration. I placed the wheel in a lathe and re bored the centre of the wheel, then made a brass shaft to fit the wheel on. I then balanced the wheel with shaft by placing the shaft on two stanley blades in the vice (CAREFULLY) you then simply look to her the wheel rotates to and drill a bit of the plastic out until you get it balanced.

This machine looks like a wonderful prototype, but the one thing that makes this difficult to sit through is this unbearable noise lol. Is this heard while you’re using it or is the mic just making the noise worse?

Hi there are 2 of 24vdc motors rotating two 125mm dia wheels in opposite directions, the ball is dropped into the center of the two rotating wheels and compressed and thrown out. The wheels rotate at around 3000 rpm.

    Hello! That project looks amazing!
Would you be able to describe how you managed to attach the wheels to the motor shaft? I'm assuming you had to use shaft couplers/hubs and maybe extenders? But how did you get the wheel to stay attached? Was it a direct mount? I'm trying to make my own project, but I can't figure out how to get a castor wheel to attach to the motor shaft (especially when the shaft is

Motor shaft is 8mm dia, i turned a shft to 16 mm, drilled the shaft to accept the 8 mm motor shaft and drilled the wheels to 16 mm, two small screws through plastic wheel hub into shaft. all needs to be accurate to avoid vibration as the motors turn at 5.5k rpm
