It's quite refreshing to see UA-camrs who do a house tour where they spent an average amount on Reno compared to influencers who brag about 100-200k renos

Question: Can you share where you did the wall painting? It looks so professionally done, and we've also been wanting to do one ourselves and put it up on our wall!

    • @TheDailyKetchupPodcast
      @TheDailyKetchupPodcast  8 місяців тому +5

Thank you!! That means so much :)
As for the wall painting, we did it at home! We found large canvases at Spotlight and Art Friend. For the textures, we used a mixture of plaster of Paris at first but then found typical putty from hardware store worked best! Then just paint over using acrylic paint!!

    Poor design... ...
Never mind. Seen a lot of designs of homes and bedroom, including one pair of your guests with a 'hotel suite bedroom'... ...
I can't live in such space because 1. impossible to maintain, 2. rot easily especially in months of intense rain then big sun, then insects attacks... ... 3. not comfortable in real, due to air circulation issues, and lastly... ... 4. too many unnecessary gaps for roaches and their eggs and molds... ...
Furthermore... ... my false celling is non-porous and super light, no nails hence no rust and easy to maintain and remove and replace.
False cellings are best for molds, roaches and all sorts... ... and once molds and rust happens... ... the wood rots, metal rust and all those fall through porous surfaces or corroding your paint, and dripping chemicals, lead or dust down to your sleeping nose or food... ... My false celling has no such problem, since it can be taken apart every 3 or a week to be cleaned by the maid, attached back, the light won't rust cos no chance, and no nails... ...
Now huge problem is many use wood and laminates in the kitchen... ... and 'enclose' the area Beautiful... ... but easily rotting.
    The washroom is ok.
Without bothering about the humid environment of Singapore, Smart homes with electronic succumb easily due to rust and acidic excretion of insects and bateria... ... Fanciful but totally stupid.
You SHOULD NOT use a wood surface or wood for your table... ... Any scratches, cutting melons and such will easily destroy the wood's protection, then in humid tropical environment... ... termites are drawn in, and there goes your wood everything and even false cellings and cornice. Besides, tons of chemicals from drinks and food can corrode surfaces, and germs from your friends once land on a dented microhole on the wood surface... ... what do you think will happen?
Restrict to porcelain or marble or glass tops, and hard plastic supports.
NEVER use wood for wardrobe too. You do realize if two or one adult sleeps, how much moisture you will be producing in a room like yours, and vapors slipping through into your wardrobe will cause what?
Rotting from the edges... ... molds, even draw ants to build a nest in your wardrobe. And your protective layer easily get wasted. No good.
I have seen your homes and bedrooms... ... amateur designing lack of focus on details means I can't live in those spaces.
On my tiled floor is queen size beautiful bed, placed away from the sun... ... at least 60cm from the window hence rain if I forget to close the windows, and behind the bed is a wall pasted with marble panels, with the top layer... ... mirrors along the edges of the entire room, sealed up with silicon. Next to my bed... ... the controls to all the lights of the room, including the dehumidifier, the 3 systems of air purifiers and UVC lights... ...
I built a nice transparent wardrobe... ... using Wire Housings... ... with marble panels as internal surfaces, light them up, and place all my garments in translucent plastic containers... ... alongside with glass panels or dividers.
I am making two other furniture... ... one book case and a table for the desktop and for meals... ... using porcelain tiles and carbon slate panels... ... and one small wall long table, 16cm wide... ...
Any mold can be hit by high corrosive solutions, any roaches... ... nowhere to hide but around the bed, which will be concentrated for cleaning routine. Any plastic containers dirty, wipe and cleared.
Elegant, yet functional, and... ... can last. Only the bed is a problem. Unless I make one with porcelain slabs myself. Even my chairs are made of plastics... ...
Unless you wanna live with roaches and their eggs and excretions and the dust, the rust, the mold, the secondhand smoke... ... and seeing false celling rotting but you can't do anything cos you need to tear everything down... ... Not like I have a choice.
I can only focus on cleaning a bed... ... not everyday hunting and cleaning everything... ...
Also, as aircon usually gets moldy... ... use portable aircons. They are cheap, they don't need to tear down the air tunnels or replace condensers, and... ... you can replace moldy ones every 6 months or a year... ...
I have have enough of musty smell from aircons... ... and moldy surfaces thanks to condensations... ...
One design, do it once, and I can focus on other things in life... ... for quite a while.
