Hope you had some happy holidays and a good new years so far Juan! As a Dark Angels player this tutorial is a godsend. I really need to take a crack at sculpting and making my marines a little more Dark Angel looking.
You sir are a gentleman and a scholar.. I'm working on a commission custom DA army and have been trying to make cloaks for some Infiltrators and some others and could not get them to look right and wasted a bunch of green stuff. This vid was exactly what I needed to show me how to get it right.
You are the man! I recently took up the hobby of collecting Nendoroid figures from the Inuyasha Manga/Anime. The only problem: they didn't make some of the better characters. I decided I wanted to make those missing characters myself. The only problem: I don't know the first thing about sculpting onto or painting these little figures. I can't find but a few tutorials for modifying Nendoroid figures, and they're not the best videos, so I just did a general search for epoxy sculpting figures and found this video. The few actual Nendoroid videos I did find said to use epoxy sculpt, so that's what I bought. I know it's similar to the green stuff, so your tutorials should be quite useful. I'll be modifying other existing figures to make the missing figures from the series. I learned so much just from watching this video. I'm hoping you have other videos that relate to what I'm planning to do.
Thanks, JDM!! I built my very first model that I had to do conversions on(new termy librarian converted to Grand Master Voldus). I had to chop him in half and build up a torso, which turned out pretty nicely, for my first time. But I now need to add a tabbard and cape, so this video is perfect for what I need today!
thankyou so much, i have tried doing cloth multiple times and even a few minutes in im getting so much good information. my greenstuff was so soft that as i let it dry it adhered flat to the model rather than maintaining it's own shape.
Huge thanks for this, Juan! I'm pretty new to working with green stuff and didn't even consider shaving and sanding the outside post-cure, rather than pulling my hair out while trying to get the exact shape I wanted when it was still soft and wondering why it looked like ass 🤣
And here I was building the courage to try a Tanith cloak this year for that army your Mkoll tutorial helped with. I'm sure this will come in handy, but going to try on an old Catachan before I dare touch my prized kitbasked Kolea model!
All of us painters that are absolutely terrible at sculpting thank you for your service. If I could humbly request you do one on HAIR some day? My sisters of battle have told me that they are tired of the bowl cuts and want to feel a bit more stylish. Love ya.
Saw a great video the other day where a talented sculptor used a 50:50 mix of milliput and green stuff. Made blending lines and carving so much easier and more accurate. Worth checking out
Great video! I originally bought two packs of green stuff and because of how bad the first pack went I decided to not open the second one until I knew a lot more. But now I’m ready to try again
Thanks for the sculpting tip! That’s awesome! Really nice tutorial and super nice presentation! Thanks again and happy sculpting and painting y’all! 🐝💨❄️☃️
Juan, grande!! Estas Navidades mis suegros me han regalado un juego de lancetas de modelismo y estaba mirando tus tutoriales como Lobezno tirado en la cama mirando un marco de fotos.
Are the shaping tools you used in the video description? I am about to sculpt a kama for a clone trooper (Star Wars: Legion) and I don't have any shaping tools like you used. Would I be able to pick some up at a local arts & crafts store?
You should be able to get them in a local art store yes. Just ask for Clay shapers or Colour shapers, I recommend you get the grey or black tips only, the darker the colour the firmer the tip is
Just bought milliput, mainly due to wanting to copy a bit from the titanicus box set that will mean I can use 2 of the alternative masks, using a blue stuff mold. But as thats all I need it for, I am now wondering what else I can do with miliput and green stuff. This vid gives a very good indicator.
Can I ask where you got your green stuff in two little pots like this? Also, thanks for the freezer trick. Before, I used my excess greenstuff to make tactical rocks for basing
I didn't, I get it in rods, separated yellow and blue and I put it in those pots myself. Also, very important to understand all GS is the same, it's all made by the same company Sylmasta and it's called Knedatite Yellow-Blue
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I sculpted with it yesterday for the first time. I was pretty prepared but not fully. It turned out pretty good though. I am super worried about how paint will take to it. I'm afraid I have to sand off the details of my sculpt or paint will simply bead off it.
You should prime over it, as with other plastics. That's the recommendation. As with naked plastic, it can be painted without primer but it might take a bit for paint to catch. That being said I've done it before and it's not as bad as naked normal plastic or resin
Hello love the model, saw it online some time ago and took some photos for the reference. Can you please tell me what is the base body? Which model? PS Love the sculpting video! Would be great to have next one you painting the model :)
Do you have a idea how to make a Librarian/ Scriptor chest Cable/ wire with green stuff? I want to make a Custom Model but without the 2 Cable is it not the same😢. If you have a easy way to make these i would be very greatful.
Hello my friend just letting you know i figured out what happened with the rar file from the redgrass ganes adaptors, long story short i got em and im printing them now ......thanks so much
Mmmmm, maybe. If it's the strip with both colours together you have to take out the middle part where they touch, that part is cured and will cause that.

Perfect time for a brew, sit back and watch the master at work.
Thanks mate 😘
I never knew the trick about storing excess green stuff in the freezer. Thanks for a great trip alongside a great tutorial!
-John
It won't hold forever but I've had putty stored like that for a week and it was still workable.
This is honestly the best greenstuff tutorial I have seen
Thanks!
Love the sculpting cant wait to see this guy painted
Thanks
I did not know about the freezer thing! Thanks for the tip!!!

Thanks, it was ok, and that's enough 😂 with two kids you have to lower your standards

Out of all the UA-camrs to make this I'm so glad it was you 🇪🇸❤️🇺🇲 master expert and no that's not redundant 🤯
yup, tats how it done! Best to wait 48 hrs b4 sanding. The longer, the better. For trimming, make sure the blade is v. sharp.

Thank you for this tutorial Juan. You make the process seem a lot less scary.
Happy to help 😘

Oh yes, Juan making a sculpting video! This is what I call Friday evening entertainment. Thank you for the guide. He turned out great!

This was extremely helpful! The freezer tip was also something I never realized. Very great video.

Yeah, it's a big step forward. It's always good to get as close as possible fresh but sometimes it's better to stop and refine later

Thanks so much , im an old time fan of DA, returned recently to the hobby due to your tutorial 💚🖤
Awesome!!
I definitely need this tutorial now more than ever.
Well, it's here for you
I tend to really struggle getting greenstuff to blend nicely together. Great video to watch after my latest attempt! XD
Metal tools, well lubricated and use pressure and smooth movements
Thank you. Inspirational video and, I'm starting to understand your sense of humor 😀.
It's weird but that's just how I am

I actually have one, go and look at THE FIRST VIDEO on the channel 😂
Impresionante conversión. Buen trabajo Juan.
Gracias Alpharius!
Thanks so much for the tutorial, it really helped me out a lot.

Nice tutorial, another useful thing is using baking paper , it has a bigger surface and you can also reuse it.
Super nice tip!
straight shooting great advice w/o gimmicks. TY

Already know that, it's a very useful mix but I prefer pure GS for cloth.
Nice one. you had me at 'floppy' having said that be careful with pea shaped pieces of greenstuff stored in your freezer :)...
😂😂😂 that's going to be a very sticky pea soup
Thank you, this is absolutely great and super valuable.
Thanks
Thanks for the tutorial 👍
thanks for your video, I'm learning how to use miliput, your tutorial will help me for a part of my learning !

It was alright, and that's as much as you can ask for with two kids

Can you show his up sculpt different styles of facial hair? (For Space Wolves and Leagues of Votann)
Maybe, thanks for the suggestion
Could you show how you did the winged Angel on the chest?
I did in a previous video
Pero ahora cuenta cómo hacemos ese pectoral!!
Pedazo d campeón d Ángeles Oscuros!!!😍
Con MUCHO cuidado
LOVE It! Thanks a lot! What do you use to dampen the tools? Water?
Yeah, just water for the most part, sometimes I use my saliva though, it works extremely well and it's super quick
genial la verdad.. ojalá podamos ver la miniatura pintada :D
Por supuesto
Do you have a trick for adding more greenstuff? Whenever I try to add more it ends with a clearly visible line between the old and the newly added GS
Well, first let the GS to fully cure, then use metal tools and press hard in the joint moving the tool towards the new puttty. It's all about practice
I could have done with this 7 days ago 🥴. Oh well, I've saved it for next time 😃
Sadly I haven't finished my time machine yet, but I'm working on it
Hello love the model, saw it online some time ago and took some photos for the reference. Can you please tell me what is the base body? Which model? PS Love the sculpting video! Would be great to have next one you painting the model :)
It's Bayard's Revenge
Finally a sculpting video :D its been to long! You think I subscribe to the channel for painting?!! ehehhe
Next one will also have a lot of sculpting
Could this be done after painting the model?
I wouldn't recommend it but yes, you can
How do you do the symbols like the angel symbol on his chest?
Watch literally the next video to this one
how to make the chest angel?
Do you have a idea how to make a Librarian/ Scriptor chest Cable/ wire with green stuff?

If you have a easy way to make these i would be very greatful.
For those ribbed cables I used to use electric guitar string
@@JuanHidalgoMiniaturesthx i will give a try

SO happy you managed to solve it. Thanks for the update it's appreciated
If anyone asked about this again , they just need to change the RAR file to an STL file , with ezyzip , you do it online .......very easy........
Im trying to sculpt a whole pair of ork legs for a conversion 💀
That is hardcore mode
I know 😭
Did you sculpt the figure too??
Only the green parts, the grey parts are plastic
what legs are those from?
Whole body is Bayard's Revenge, that's the foundation of the whole conversion

joder, de mayor quiero ser como tu, por favor, no nos prives del pintado de la mini, pinta espectacular.
My puddy never comes out smooth its always.. like tiny tiny chunky bits in it i cant fix. do i have a bad roll of it or something?
Mmmmm, maybe. If it's the strip with both colours together you have to take out the middle part where they touch, that part is cured and will cause that.
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures ive done that and it still is messed up. Thank you for your reply.
