LYRICS - I'LL BE YOU, BE ME
Your love’s a bonnie snare
Traps me in the evening
Got me hanging in mid-air
Now I’m swinging from the ceiling
But it’s me that’s looking now
It’s me that’s seeking something
When you’re nowhere to be found
Must I keep on looking
I’ll be you, be me and I’ll be you
I’ll take your truth, your lies, your secrets
How ‘bout you be me and I’ll be you
I love your strength, your pride, your weakness
My love’s an androgen
She writes when I’m in slumber
My lover is all good things
And I’m the fool whose spell she’s under
She laid a silken thread
A warm scent in the evening
If you follow the trail of dead
You’ll come upon the place she’s sleeping
I’ll be you, be me and I’ll be you
And we won’t say no more about it
How ‘bout you be me and I’ll be you
And we’ll just leave it where we found it
I’ll be you, be me and I’ll be you
And we won’t say no more about it
How ‘bout you be you and I’ll be me
And we’ll just leave it where we found it

He is one of the artists with the most personality that exist, he is unique and special, he will always be
I'm a bit disappointed... Because I heard this song first live and it was a whole other level :D Glens records are brillant but go and watch him live, one of the really best performer I've seen, totally worth the money!
Totally agree. Saw him last night and I was blown away.
I can't stop to listen it! Again, again.. In the morning when I wake up, in the evening when I go to running, at the night when I try to fall asleep.. well - I've just fallen in love 🖤🖤🖤
Powerful, compelling, haunting. This song will follow me and linger as I work to understand it's birth for Glen and why it speaks to me so. Because right now I can't explain it.
It has the whisper of Leonard Cohen, whom I miss in my world. I have seen Glen 3 times and he doesn't fail to fill my heart and body with his music. The Passion. I am so glad he is coming to Boston, I even flew to Minneapolis to hear him for my 64th Birthday. So I can definitely make Boston!!!!!!! Can't wait to see you Glen. Ps: you were great at Joni's 75th Birthday Celebration.
Glen Hansard is my biggest inspiration. Hoping to see him live again this spring 😊
Hope to see him once before I die.. 100 miles away 😓
@@محمدعمادشتية I travelled from Greece to Belgium to see him. And it was totally worth it 😊
I met him after a show in PT, he's a very kind man. We talked for like 1 or 2 hours after the show. I even got to play with his 'the horse' ! It was a dream come true as he's also my idol and biggest inspiration :)
@@joaocma8411 your story sounds really familiar to me cause he also invited us for beers after the show. He is my inspiration as an artist and as a human, he's so down to earth and kind 😊
@@IroGraonidou agree 100%
Lucky us, we got to see him live and even meet chat with him after! Still, i want to repeat that as soon as possible!! :)
Respect to Glen and his art. Love how melody is slowly rising. Very dramatic and beuatiful at the same time!
~ i'm so willingly caught in the tempestuous silken thread, of this beautifully orchestrated creation... amazing vocals, lyrics, music, visuals all perfectly woven together to take us on it's journey... i love the way it begins, almost in a whisper and slowly escalates into a whirlwind of emotion... leaving it's lingering affect within ~
This is the best version of this haunting song that I’ve ever heard.. 🎧
This album was a grower for me, and now I think it's my favourite of all his albums. I've seen him live many times, but I saw him live in Derry tonight and I was as awestruck as any time I've ever seen him. I go to A LOT of Gigs, probably 40 a year, and he's the greatest. This song is stunning, this album is maybe his masterpiece (so far) 💚
Glen whispering in my ears.... killing it Glen 🔫💙
Always staying the same but reinventing himself at the same time... Thanks so much Glen hope to see you in Chicago.
Just absolutely breath-taking! I was so caught off guard by this industrialesque rendition by Glen, but quickly became lost in it. So much power in this masterpiece. The video is amazing, and I LOVE that his forehead is bleeding from the camera near the end.
Keep it coming.
Always so talented. Thanks for your music Glen!
glad he doesnt end at falling slowly, glad the peoople who like this like this. This is just right wherever it is. Thank you Eddie for keeping this guy goin
Wow, that's a totally different Glen. It's really interesting what he's trying there, looking forward to the album.
Such a great musical spirit 😍😍
he's a genius, period.
Brilliant track.
Was more used to his earlier sound but heard this track and it blew me away!!
This is chaotically good! ❤️
I miss The Frames
Finally! A new song!
Can someone please give this video 100 Million Views! I want to see it in Some Dark Knight Returns Soundtrack!
This song is 🔥🔥🔥👏 Greetings from Argentina ❤ proud of you Glen!! 😊
i was broke the last three times Glen, i'll see you this tour buddy
a beautifully accident; playing this and Mercury Rev-Big Boss Man in a separate window, Hope started singing as Glen`s outro began. Will record and post on here. Stunned.

So good ♥
Such a mistic song. Love it
Marvelous!!!
Cool and Hazy!
South Africa is listening through me
This video is actually lo key genius. Loving it.
Grande Glen. Saludos desde Argentina!
Was not what I expected from first click. Wowzers.
great song
Why does this song give me such strong NIN vibes?
yes!
sounds like a reznor home demo soaked in jameson
Yes
Pusifer as well
It reminds me a bit of Reptile and I don't know why, since they are way different
I just heard 30 seconds of this and thought the same thing.
sultry, smart, intriguing.
This album is uncharted territory for Glen's solo career. He's stepping a little off the line between his folk music and singer songwriter alt stuff and jumping into familiar Frames territory. I have high expectations for this album, especially considering Between Two Shores was a bit mediocre, I'm expecting something both bombastic and huge but also soulful and folky. His previous three solo efforts were highly guitar orchestrated and simplistic musically, but complex vocally and lyrically. This album seems like it will take the amps up to 11 in all areas.
Christian Billman totally agree man!
I want a return to Frames territory SO BAD (if we can't get an actual album from them). I'm hopeful for this one. (Also it didn't dawn on me until now that this will be his fourth solo record in what, less than 7 years? wow)
Between two shores was mediocre ?
Like like like!
wow!
hypnotic
Intense.
He's sampled "Cool Cat" by Queen.
Steve..**..** I thought the same Steve
Far to short, hope he does an extended version when he plays the Barbican, love it.
Holy shit! He looks old!
Nice. :)
Sooo fucking perfect music!!!
song like/instead of an intense high.
Aways cracks me up, keep it up... Haha...
The drum and bass track really sounds like a sample from ‘Cool Cat’ by Queen but clearly isn’t based on the credits. Were you aware of the direct similarity when writing/recording this? Thanks.
They got approval from queen to use the beat. He explains how he wrote the song in mini docu live performance.
glad he's still going strong, but notttttt loving this direction for his solo work. still strong, but....man, listening to this makes me miss his other solo work!
Fucking god help me!!! So good it’s painful...
Not a Replacements cover, if you were wondering.
How can i order this album on Vinyl to Russia?
Rip
Wesh papa
IT SEEMS TO ME THAT HIS VOICE AND ORIGINALITY HAVE NOT SURPRISED ME SINCE I WAS WAITING FOR A FINAL, ANOTHER MORE EXPLOSIVE FINAL BEFORE RETURNING WITH CALM ...
I DO NOT SAY THAT IT IS NOT GOOD, I LOVE THE GLEN MUSIC AND THE LETTER OF THIS SONG, BUT THIS SONG DOES NOT TRANSMIT YOUR SEARCH ... IT WILL BE ONLY AS A SONG MORE LIKE IF IT WAS OUT OF ANOTHER GROUP ... THE GRIMMY SCRATCH IS MISSING. ..
i kinda wish this was a new I am kloot song.
pepar tigerみたいでかっこいいね
0:32 , 1:45, 1:57
3:36 Glen vs camera = bleeding forehead
I really love the instrumentation and the chord progression, the swell to crescendo, utterly impactful and enjoyable, but I can't feel the vocals for anything. Vocally and lyrically, it's terribly unenjoyable, flat and uninspired, at least for me.
fair enough;
i dig it 'cus glen's last LP was more conventional, songs to sing on a long drive etc.
this one is to sit at home with low light, great speakers, some wine or a smoke... i sorta agree but i'll welcome a great artist stickin' his neck out there
Instrumentation and vocal remind me of The Frames.
...
They've never got an original thought these Americans and always years behind. This is straight out of the book of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
He’s Irish…
@@Faves52 That really explains it then. Like I said, he's lifted everything here from Nick Cave, oh, and very obviously from David Bowie's Black Star period. He's a damned fraud.
@@apollomemories7399 How does him being Irish really explain it? What a strange take.
@@Faves52 Backward country, largely backward society, crippled with superstitious religion = stifled creativity, hence, devoid of original ideas. This geezer is a good example of that. He can't even invent his own act.
@@apollomemories7399 Haha! I laughed out loud just reading this. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Suggest you go read a book or go out for a breath of fresh air. Largely backward society? Haha!
What? What??
V
Poor souls! A lot of demonic possession! Great music though!
He aint gonna win any new fans with this, but could lose a load of his existing fans if he continues in the same vein.I wouldn't fancy listening to 2/3 hours of this live in concert.
Never heard it before... And i'm Loving it
Is it me or is he copying Tom Waits' stance with the guitar in the 'Hold On' video? who gives a fuck anyway right. Next.
Meh
Not a copy for me... but rather a tribute... only my opinion
this is how you hold a guitar without strap :)
I love Glen, but I'm not a fan of his new sound.
If he's trying to do a tom waits,it's not working
he's doing glen :)
we reflexively compare artists too quick, sez i!
remember, Macca singing "i've got a feeling" on the apple corps roof, he was just trying to be little Richard!
