There's a entity called RCT (RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIALS) to check therapeutic efficacy, side effects etc of ' drug' before it enters market to be prescribed by doctors, pls do mention about that.(at 24.45)
AbbVie is not a generic subsidiary of Abbott. Abbott floats its bio tech division into a separate subsidiary as AbbVie. AbbVie is more high end research oriented company than Abbott
As warrenn buffett says dont invest in a company which spends alot of amount in research and development as no one knows what is return on that cost. so if i see on your slide lupin cipla etc have spend around 12% of their sales in research and development. so dont you think pharma sector has bad economics? Even in your porfolio there are pharma stocks so why these stocks are there as we are value investor.
Hello! Can someone tell, how does a regular daily consumer identify and distinguish a pharmaceutical grade drug in the market? Any signs, symbols or labels we can look for? There are so many bad quality, impure over the counter drugs sold. So we have to know.
Drug packaging is quite standardised and regulated by local bodies in each country. Counterfeit drugs are very hard to identify based on packaging alone. One way to guard against it is to stick to the prescription & even cross check the medicine with the doctor after purchasing it. Local Pharmacies who you know personally might also warn about certain manufacturers who are known to have sold counterfeit drugs. Sadly none of the indicators of counterfeit or impure drugs are easy to verify by patients/consumers.
