I love whenever RT plays pokémon because it's super enjoyable watching people that weren't aware of his competitive past lose their minds over him being cracked at the game.
I personally really dislike it. RT doesn't play clean enough in Pokemon and his 'competitive past' only shows when he abuses the idea of a Nuzlocke by going for guaranteed encounters and thus catches of super strong pokemon, which defeats the central point of a Nuzlocke which is using what hand you are dealt (and also letting less commonly used Pokemon shine). RT's pokemon teams ALWAYS tend toward that team you used at 12 with 5 500+BST pokemon and a starter/legendary, and MAN that is boring. He also just... isn't that good. He doesn't do simple things like staying in Torrent to ensure kills, double switching, scouting for moves with certain pokemon... (But that's just an opinion and RT can and should do whatever he wants since it's his fun, of course)
@@cractor6307 That would be a more subjective question than good or bad play but basically, it boils down to you neutering the entire 'use the hand you are dealt' luck of the draw philosophy of a Nuzlocke. It's not just about not letting pokemon faint - it's also about not having a choice of party members and having that random Plusle you were so disappointed to catch at level 12 carry you versus Juan. RT goes out of his way in BW to suspend the species clause 'oh, the Excadrill I played badly with and let faint was caught as a Drilbur, so I should be allowed to catch an Excadrill again!! But I won't catch all these other dupes because it suits me not to!' That's goalpost shifting at its finest and is incredibly... disingenuous? Pokemon isn't so serious that that should be a big thing, but RT takes a LOT of shortcuts. Later, he argues that he's only using the Dialga to Fly - but in a proper Nuzlocke, you only get HM slaves if none of your entire legitimately caught box can learn the HM. This means you have to use your Luvdisc on the team instead of your lucky 6 dragons or whatever - and that is part and parcel of the challenge that also makes you appreciate the mon or rage at the circumstances of it all. RT suspends all this and spends many many minutes on stream debating the idea - if it really had no impact, he wouldn't even need to debate it, but it does and he knows it. He's just happy to hide behind 'oh chat said it was okay' when he knows enough about Pokemon as a lifelong player to know it is not. He's just jumping through hurdles to justify not sticking to the rules - then why advertise it as a Nuzlocke?
@@oopsausername4111 Lol u kinda need to chill a lil bit and have fun, maybe you're a nuzlocke pro but he did establish at the start of the og video that it was a lets play combined with nuzlocke n hes not really trying as hard compared to first nuzlocke. Sure pros may disagree wit some of the things he did but im just saying he wasnt really considering a tryhard full nuzlocke run n was just having fun
@@oopsausername4111 It may very well have been goalpost shifting, however, playing a game with self-imposed rules for the sake of unfun is simply just not good entertainment for anyone except sadists. Even as an experienced pokemon player, I do not blame him for bending the rules over what, to him, could've been seen as throwing the run. For someone like RT, it's probably impossible to go into this game without a fair estimate of how well he'll go in the upcoming fights. If the outcome is 99% certain death, it's not fun to bank on that 1% chance of victory and lose, especially when losing means packing up and leaving after how many hours of gameplay. You may lose pokemon, and that hurts, but the fun is in the struggle of a Nuzlocke to win and succeed. If the run is dead, then there is no struggle and there is no fun. It's just wasted time. Given how much time was already sunk into the run, I can't blame him for making decisions like that live, when they directly contribute to the livelihood of the run, and therefore how much fun he'd have. It's probably fair to call it out as an unproper Nuzlocke, but it's not as if it's ranked, so if it's a Nuzlocke to him, and the viewers he had and has now, then that's all that really matters, in the end.
i think he doesn't realize that the gothita line is based on gothic lolita fashion, not western gothic fashion. that's why it's made cute, with pigtails, with bows. i also personally think gothitelle is the more awkward evolution and i would've been 1000% fine if it stopped at gothorita. but i love the gothita line they're cute.
Imagine if the two of you just kept reacting to each other's reactions until it's gone through about 8 cycles. The screen no longer shows any gameplay instead just a checkerboard of RT and Jan's webcams. And the audio is just a horrific eldritch noise of 16 people all talking at once, pausing eachother to talk more and or talking over eachother.
21:17 The other thing about optional dupes clause is that you can play a lot more risky and aggressive. You don't have to try your hardest to switch around to keep a certain useful Pokemon alive when you can just get the same one again after the first one has died.
I honestly love to see how Jan's reviews push people to get better at the game. It's rare to see react content have such a positive effect on a community. It's so cool to see that Jan's original intent for them to be used as a learning tool shine through here with RT talking about how he watched more of Jan's videos for tips on improving in every element of the game from team building to encounter routing to planning. Honestly, it's incredible. :)
So in Dungeons and Dragons there is this concept called RAW vs RAI, or Rules as Written vs Rules as Intended. It's basically the divide of what the wording of a rule actually is as opposed to what was most likely the intent behind the rule. For a Nuzlocke, the rules as they are written state that you can only catch the first Pokemon you encounter on a route. That can very easily be interpreted as only being allowed to catch the type of Pokemon you first encounter on that route, which would mean in the case of the Victini that you can only catch a Victini on that route, even if it's not the same one. Obviously though the rule is intended to mean that you can only catch the exact Pokemon that is present in your first encounter. However, the rule does not actually state that, and so the rule is up for interpretation. I personally think that when it comes down to this that whatever is most fun for you is the best option, because as a DND player the best rule is Rule of Cool.
My head hurts. Daniel reacts to a Nuzlocke reviewer as they watch Daniel's Nuzlocke as Daniel says 'I can't wait to react to the review of THIS Nuzlocke'.
So we got Jan reacting to Dan, then Dan reacting to Jan reacting to Dan and now all we need is Dan reacting to Jan reacting to Dan reacting to Jan to get the holy trinity.
Jan: British people, am I right- The Irish: (plays Come Out Ye Black and Tans) Jan: *Why do I hear boss music?* Like how Jan has become a well-known menace to any youtuber who makes a nuzlocke video at this point. The double take when RT heard him say "Kinda thick too" just broke me
TECHNICALLY SPEAKING your first encounter being, for example, a Pidgey means it's THAT Pidgey. If your second encounter is also a Pidgey, then as far as your in-game character is concerned, it probably isn't even the same Pidgey. If you walk into a room that has exactly one Pokémon...and it's a Pokémon that there is only one of...then it's the exact same encounter because it's the exact same Pokémon. But I'd let this slide because come on, it's a Victini...HOW can you say no to how cute it is?
One thing grinding has over rare candies is the fact that you get EVS Edit: Look guys I'm not trying to say which one is better TwT. Some have no choice but to grind, some have cheats/emulation. I'm just saying that you do get EVs from grinding. (Awesome idea btw is the berries thing @Denly mentioned in the replies.)
@@possiblyivy726 I think it's mostly in the context of streaming or time efficiency. The grinding can take a lot of time and either you or your audience can get bored with it before completing a challenge. It means you don't rush as much, even if there are pros and cons to both methods
@@possiblyivy726 Pchal commonly does hard nuzlock runs, not just the base games. If a run can take even hundreds of attempts to win do you really want to spend hours grinding on stream for every one of those attempts? Yeah it's a bias but grinding gets boring when you reset a run multiple times
It's a time efficiency thing mostly. What people will usually do is add the stat berries to affect EV levels. It's usually paired with a No Overlevelling clause to keep things interesting
I have complete confidence that Pokemon Challenges is gonna be absolutely flooded with DMs from goth girls after his in-depth analysis of Gothorita and its evolutionary lineup, just maybe not for the reason he's hoping Honestly, as a New Yorker, battling a Victini is much more exciting than seeing a copper green statue on the IRL island. I'd let that second chance pass. Also, IRL, you don't need to board a pricey ferry from NYC to see the Statue. You can just go to the southern side of Liberty State Park where you could park for free and see the backside of the statue. There's also a science museum with its own planetarium in the park. My uncle helped open the park by raising one of 13 US flags in the park in 1976 when he was a boy scout, so the park is something special for my family.

RT goes out of his way in BW to suspend the species clause 'oh, the Excadrill I played badly with and let faint was caught as a Drilbur, so I should be allowed to catch an Excadrill again!! But I won't catch all these other dupes because it suits me not to!'
That's goalpost shifting at its finest and is incredibly... disingenuous?
I remember seeing this and the watching Jan's full reaction. Both of you are great content creators.
RT is my favorite reaction channel!
30:48
He really called out Dan for his pronunciation of Seismitoad and then a few moments later said Elektross instead of Eelektross.
Finally. Someone is taking RumbleTumble down a peg.
Reaction Tiktok*
My head hurts. Daniel reacts to a Nuzlocke reviewer as they watch Daniel's Nuzlocke as Daniel says 'I can't wait to react to the review of THIS Nuzlocke'.
rt please do a run using only gothitelle just to watch pokechallenges have a meltdown
Getting an ad immediately after he said there would be seven midroll ads and a sponsorship from Manscaped made that joke 100% better.
So we got Jan reacting to Dan, then Dan reacting to Jan reacting to Dan and now all we need is Dan reacting to Jan reacting to Dan reacting to Jan to get the holy trinity.
Jan: British people, am I right-
The Irish: (plays Come Out Ye Black and Tans)
Jan: *Why do I hear boss music?*
Like how Jan has become a well-known menace to any youtuber who makes a nuzlocke video at this point. The double take when RT heard him say "Kinda thick too" just broke me
30:50 The truly amazing thing is Dan's ability to pronounce them perfectly upon second inspection
"i made quite a few mistakes, BUT i got away with them."
i will now live by these words.
I can say no to a Victini, or any legend, mythical, or shiny for that matter. Scratch, that I always kill shinies anyway.
I always look forward to the latest RT: reacts video!
With manscaped, I can take care of my very own pokeballs!
What a wholesome turn of events! I can’t wait for your next nuzlocke to be just as fun!
Yoooo at around 29:05 the video progress bar lines up almost perfectly with the actual video Dan is watching. Pretty epic ngl.
This was my second time watching the N/Ghetsis fight and I was still biting my nails over it
10/10 anxiety would watch again
One thing grinding has over rare candies is the fact that you get EVS
Edit: Look guys I'm not trying to say which one is better TwT.
Some have no choice but to grind, some have cheats/emulation.
I'm just saying that you do get EVs from grinding.
(Awesome idea btw is the berries thing @Denly mentioned in the replies.)
Theres so many ways grinding is better, and the supposed best nuzlocker here still wants to say rare candies are better
@@possiblyivy726 I think it's mostly in the context of streaming or time efficiency. The grinding can take a lot of time and either you or your audience can get bored with it before completing a challenge. It means you don't rush as much, even if there are pros and cons to both methods
@@Sootielove if you cant come up with a way to make a grinding section interesting, then you shouldnt be streaming a pokemon nuzlocke
I unironically love these videos for the behind the scenes stuff
I have complete confidence that Pokemon Challenges is gonna be absolutely flooded with DMs from goth girls after his in-depth analysis of Gothorita and its evolutionary lineup, just maybe not for the reason he's hoping
Honestly, as a New Yorker, battling a Victini is much more exciting than seeing a copper green statue on the IRL island.
Challenges: "how did RT just pronounce that pokemon?"
Also challenges: "sam yer ott"
The RT in RT Game stands for Reaction Tuber
Personally I think Alpharad should react to this next so Jan can make two more videos on it
RT is my favorite reaction UA-camr!
Ok i NEED to see here how they put Dan's reaction to being called British in his review, it was like a full 3 minutes of silence in the vod
Absolutely the best reaction channel!
0:38 is what my brain feels like 24/7
I love your trolling thumbnail. Both times he's reviewed you he's been super kind despite your thumbnails.
4:30 It sounded like they were having a real conversation.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO I WASNT SURE IF WE WOULD GET IT LETS GOOOOOOO
I want more RT Nuzelockes so we can get more Dan reacting to Jan reacting to Dan
What's funny is even in an edited video he still left in the sponsor
Your "let's play all of" videos where it's just one long video are my favorites of yours. They give the whole thing in one go, which I appreciate! Some of the best Pokemon content available
0:30
That's what the RT actually stands for!
Review Tik Toks, Game
It also shows the order of your priorities.
very clever, Review Tik-toks Game. Very clever indeed.
Jan making fun of Dan saying seimitoad wrong when he called samurott "samirott"
Also as an Irish person, I have no problem enforcing the stereotype of car bombs if it means Jan no longer calls an Irish person "British". I was also fuming
Or Jan pronouncing Chandelure with a hard Ch, like come on have you never heard the word Chandelier before?
@@ihappy1 yer man's german, ch is hard in german
18:25 After hearing the song "Come Out Ye Black and Tans" for the first time a few days ago, this reaction was both priceless and justified.
Such an intense nuzlock. Nice to see another perspective on it!
RT: I wanted to make the run more interesting by sacking Excadrill, he was doing too good.
Also (past) RT: *gets a new one anyways*
i love the dynamic these 2 have, everytime i see rt reacting to his nuzlockes getting flamed i go HELL YEAH
The double take when RT heard him say "Kinda thick too" just broke me
I think the next time you do a Nuzlocke you should intentionally just make decisions that would anger the man. Fill up the rage meter like a special bar and sip on the tasty fury.
But that's just me and I'm a naughty man.
so pull a apharad on him lol, that'd be great
This guy gives off the biggest "um, actually." vibes it cracks me up b
More content from one of my favorite UA-camrs, RTreact!
Dans pure rage after being called English and then his face after needing to apologise is priceless 😂
I appreciate the stress PChal puts on forming your own ruleset, important mindset to have when doing reaction content I feel like
I went through so much effort to find the source for that Gardevoir art because the artist watermark was cropped out.
The artist is Rolex Lenov, if anyone else wants to know.
aww RTs hair looks like a heart for a while, starting at like 16:40
If i may: "Its a self imposed challenge of a childrens game, who cares?"
-Pokemon Challenges, Dec 21 2021
they've advanced past reacting to eachother reacting to eachother to just having a conversation
Someone, get this man an action replay
"OK now here's seven midroll ads"
is LITERALLY where youtube decided to insert midroll ads.
Why am I even surprised at this point.
I'm only 0:27 seconds in and I finally learned what RT stands for:
"His name is RT Game but all he's done is Review TikToks"
At this point Im pretty sure Jan is one of dans alter egos that lean more towards to the von karma side of the spectrum
