I like the eclectic selection of songs. Never thought I'd hear "You" and "Hunting Bears" in the same video.
Micah Buzan ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ me too
Micah Buzan i've seen you on every radiohead related video i've ever watched haha
And seeing Subterranean Homesick Alien, it's my favourite song by them and it's not even on youtube so yeah, that's how excited I was :D
I love the sound of Hunting Bears, it remains me the songs of the Alejandro Iñárritu Films
@@Jeremanteca Never heard of him, but I've got some more new music to listen to.
PART 2 PART 2!!!! That was awesome, thank you!
subterranean homesick alien is the most magic one 03:23
1:33 >>>>>
Sickness..
The lead part from Airbag is so on point!
And somehow the cheapest on this list
That's really cool that you acknowledged less known songs like Hunting Bears.
Also that Robotalk pedal sounds fantastic.
Do a part 2 guys. There are a lot of Radiohead songs with different guitar tones.
Yeah, he definitely needs to do My Iron Lung and Just next time
There are even a lot of guitarists doing different things with guitars in the same songs lmao
YES
I’m sure they know that guy
Yes right! Part2 should be his delay part.
Very surprising to see Hunting Bears! Such a gem. You guys nailed it!
Also, I love the use of the "Day dreamer" pedal, if you know what I mean.
3:05 love that fuzzy tone.
A sound like NewOrder and Joy division would make a great video on how peter hook got some of the lead bass sounds and stuff.
So... Should I blame it on the blackstar? 0:53
Nope, you can't because is the bends...
Nope, on the fallen sky ! Or the satellite !
FVenancio97 I was thinking of that haha!
FVenancio97 Wtf. I think it sounds great😂😂
its funny cause there's another one that Johnny supposedly uses which is called the Tomkat day dreamer and it has a "hold for free fall button" so maybe that's the fallen sky lyric idk? maybe those lyrics are actually about Johnny messing it up and blaming it on his pedals😂. He also uses the space echo so maybe that's the "satellite" idk tho. that'd be crazy.
that paranoid android part had me dyin lmao
Jack Interestingly, that sound has a 70s Funk vibe a lot for me... Amazingly crafted...
@@Bati_ Filter pedals are generally used for funk, so you’re dead on
I always taught that sound (guitar solo) was a whammy pedal. 🤷♂️
@@ericfurst6091 Jonny Greenwood used a DOD envelope filter on the original recording of the solo, I don’t know if they make them anymore.
He did make use of a Whammy as well, just not this part of the solo. His solo on “Just” features the Whammy more prominently.
@@mogmason6920 actually, he used a mutronics mutator for the envelope filter in the recording and uses the dod 440 for live shows
Boss Deluxe pedal is surprisingly efficient to capture most of the tones... Never expected to be that good... Great job guys!
That Subterranean Homesick Alien lead tone is unbelievable.
The bends was spot on!
@3:21 a compressor added would be good for Body Snatchers.
"Blame it on the Black Star". Odd how Blackstar is also a song on the Bends, and that pedal fits that album's guitar tone really well. Is Jonny Greenwood messing with us?
"You" is by far my favorite radiohead song and technically speaking it was their first song since it was number 1 on Pablo Honey lol. Thoms scream in the solo is just incredible.
Lots of great sounds in here, some close and some further approximations. I didn't find the Blackstar pedal pleasing at all, but I wouldn't pass judgement until trying one in person. Hunting bears was very impressive, and I suppose for Bodysnatchers the Colour Box is as close as you'll get since that riff was recorded direct in to a console.
Hunting Bears at 2:35 ! Lovely sound!
I love the sound of Hunting Bears, it remains me the songs of the Alejandro Iñárritu Films
Replace that blackstar with a rat and you're set
or a Guvnor (that Ed used early on) or a ShredMaster (that Jonny has used forever)
@@coldacre those are the correct pedals!
de echo jonny greenwood uso por mucho tiempo el descontinuado shredmaster de marshall pero si mucho mejor el rat que el blackstar
Blame it on the black star
@@TheAngryBiscuitchannel228 that’s all I thought of
I could watch this all day. Thanks.
Maybe you're just not a fan of it but the Boss TE-2 Tera Echo was essentially designed to get Radiohead-like sounds. Yeah, you can do more with a Space Echo paired with another delay attached, but really if your only concern is being able to play OK Computer era Radiohead you'll save a bunch of cash going for the TE-2.
My Bloody Valentine. I dare you.
I double dare him
i thought that said Bullet For My Valentine for a moment
now i am disappointed :(
You should check out My Bloody Valentine though.
Big Muff or Bonetender. Phase 90. A boost or overdrive. I can get fairly close with those.
YESSSSSSSSS PLEASSSESSSEE
Thanks, I love Radiohead
Can you please make one about the National. The sound of Bryce and/or Aaron is so super characteristic.
The custom coloring box 😍😍😍😍
do tame impala next!
Yesssss
Strat players "y'all got any of them telecasters?"
Hunting Bears! Bang on!
These are perfect. Nice work, Joe!
The Airbag solo does not use reverb, only echo and phaser
pretty sure jonny uses a whammy on it too in the studio version, I know he does in almost every live version I've seen
+mrpwnen the whammy was used in the very old liver versions, he now uses his max patches
I think he does use delay, maybe in some [almost] slapback delay setting
So awesome to see how it's done.
robotalk! i had to get one after the mars volta video.. glad to see it again
Muse would be a good potent pedal pairings video!
Jake Platt especially for bass
Why though? Matt Bellamy uses the same shitty tone for all of his guitar playing.
Matthew Polston Unessary hate much? Seriously you sound like a child.
Sectric: spelling hass unessary mistkaes
(Sorry had to point that out, you probably did a typo)
This is the muse potent pairings video. Are you delusional? I'm here to talk if you need any help
That Robot Talk pedal 😍
Awesome! Think you could do a Josh Homme video? Cheers
Excelent!! Thank You so much!! Next time, i'd to learn Kid A's Optimistic!
This was dead on guys!!
Gavin McLeod what?
Gavin McLeod is that Some Kind of subliminal message of wanting a grateful dead ("that was DEAD on") potent pairings?
Jk, maybe not. I'd enjoy it if they made one though!
Um no, not really that close, i think it's actually cheaper to use some of the real gear
@@angeloxboss m
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account..?
I somehow forgot my account password. I love any tips you can offer me!
Radiohead makes the best use of pedals in rock music
This is godly 😮
looks like i gotta buy 10 pedals now
Damn that tone for Airbag was *dead* on.
Oh gosh i can't believe I'm back here in 2023. I remember i watch this in my college days. I miss this
JHS Colour Box Preamp!!! Whoa
Some of them were good, but the other ones were perfect!! Nice job.
Defo require a part 2. This was spot on
Crayons were really accurate
DO THE MARS VOLTA NEXT!!! Please :)
that was awesome
Paranoid Android was...not spot on. But then you immediately redeemed yourself with choosing the deep cut Hunting Bears and absolutely nailing it. Overall, class demonstration 👌🏼👌🏼 thanks
Do one for Wilco now plz
Great idea :)
+Reverb.com one for john frusciante.
They did one already (the Frusiciante one). A Wilco one would be amazing, indeed.
Prunes And Custard and Fuzz Factories OH MY
plss wilco
Spot on
We need the cures tone now!
The robotalk on paranoid android is actually a whammy pedal, Greenwood uses the whammy a lot
Even though he does play alot with the Whammy, with Android the trick is playing with the Envelope Filter, he commonly fucks with the range knob of his DOD (emulating him tweaking 2 Mutronics in Studio)
Nice job!!
That Android solo tone had me in tears ... XD
We need part 2!!!
sweet paranoid android solo. sweet...
a lot of these sounded really spot on! but I have to say that CME has a jazzmaster demo that completely nails the body snatchers tone
Well done, Slash
The crayon pedal is so on point with bodysnatchers
I actually have the pedal and it’s fantastic
My sould melted with "Subterranean Homesick Alien".
The last track is quite impressive
sick! part 2 pleaseeee!
I've been watching a few of your 'pairings' videos and I'm ont sure if your chain goes 'left to right' or 'right to left'? The inputs/outputs on pedals would always imply 'right to left'. If this is the case its interesting as it implies Radiohead often reverb first in the chain, as I would expect most players to put reverb and delay after drive and modulation.
Good stuff guys
the best vídeo. Thank you
This thing would be genius with more "common" (even boutique) pedals.
The Hunting Bears sound reminds me of a great JPJ jam on his album Thunderthief.
greating sound!
Hunting Bears Perfect!
This guy is a really good guitarist! He can do jimmy Page and Jonny Greenwood very well! Very versatile guitarist
Thank ya!
@@JGSHADID Hey, you've probably heard this one, but you actually have 2 first names.
Wow!!
Hunting bears....always dug it
Basic Radiohead Tone (not for hardcore fans)
This Tele is enough
AC30
Overdrive pedal
Reverb and Delay (Can Be Space Echo)
Phaser
Whammy
End
Fuckin' hell, have you guys seen that video on pedals featuring Ed? He's got like a dozen or more.
What is getting that subterranean homesick alien falling effect? Freaking wicked
I wish this was longer / :
Awesome! perfect...
1:57 Paranoid Android
2:18
this was amazing….
What is the name of the pedal you used in body snatcher. I can't seem to find it
Richey Santiago JHS Colourbox
What's the pedal with the crayons for bodysnatchers?
I think Jonny used the Shredmaster for the Airbag intro. With the OD1 its soudns kind of nasally
This is a good series - you've kind of done something similar with those effect "recipies" as of late, but these demos are dynamite!
Hearing “You” for the first time today, wanting to see how to get their sound, pressed on this video and he plays “You”… wow 😂
That was fantastic let's hope for part 2 Amazing job.
Sick
nice job!
looking for more..
Where is the shredmaster?
Discontinued for several years now. I think there whole thing is that they wanna make it shit that you can buy now
I think Hunting Bears sound more badass than the original recording
Can you do one of these for Circa Survive? I love their tone!
oooh..........bliss!
YEEEEEEEES
Im interested in how Johnny gets to a sound that is loud but kind go slurred and expresses the pressed notes while blocking the blocked out notes from making a scratchy sound. Like his parts in Fake plastic trees and creep where he uses the 2nd and 4th strings and rides them up the fret while strumming really fast creating a cool background accent type thing behind the regular chords that ed and Thom are playing. If anyone can help me with that that'd be nice😂 sorry that its really awfully explained and specific.
do you mean tremolo octaves?
Royal blood Flaming lips and Mac Demarco please!!!!
You really need the digitech whammy on subterranean homesick alien to nail that tone
I love how bodysnatchers sounds like its straight from the velvet underground debut
Anyone know how the ending of Blowout was achieved, Im definitely aware of it being some sort of reverb wash but how exactly
Apparently Ed was rubbing a coin on the low e and b string with some sorta reverse reverb on it
