I think that’s exactly one of the reasons for having it so lavish in the first place - making sure anyone seeing it is impressed. After all, the royal families had to maintain their status and power in any way possible.

Nowadays with a democratic constituton it belongs to the people, only to be used by our highest representatives as long as they respect the constitution. So when I visit such places I feel part of it, as I am in fact a (tiny) part owner.

I liked all the ones that I've tried with any fish, and I like herring generally! I didn't love one that I tried with shrimp

@@underflowR I'm a huge fan of pickled herring on rye bread myself. It's one of the dishes I would recommend visitors trying, and I'm happy to hear that you liked it.
