I really love looking at paintings that are done like this one. They depict a small amount lookswise, however, there is much to think about it in the background, not that these are real people with real names and what not, but it is neat to get creative and put names and stories to faces.
Imagine Hollywood would finally find out, that Central Europe existed before the world wars and has great stories to tell too and not only Britain and France all the time XD Then they could make an epic Landsknecht series.
There is a movie from 1971. The Last Valley. Today, few know that it exists. I watched it as a kid. The wiser I am hoarding my titles (read: standing stupid with my titles as the world claps graciously) I think maybe this is a forgotten masterpiece. And we should all watch it to think again.
¡Alarma! ¡Alarma! ¡Ayridiridirán-ridirán! ¡Avanzad! ¡Lansquenetes, avanzad!
Although, of course, it represents two reiters rather than Landsknechts. But at the same time an interesting reference to the portrait of the Lisowczyk, i.e. Rembrandt's Polish Rider. The same reference to the Thirty Years' War period. You feel that the war is still going on and at the same time the moment of winter weakening has come. And you are looking for a shelter from the war, but you know that you are a part of it and what's more, it lurks there behind this winter landscape. This illustrative image is great. You can know where it is taken from.?
are they reiters and not mounted harquebusiers or maybe even dragoons they seem to be from the thrity years war period proabbly middle i would say about 100 years after the landskenchts.
@@poil8351Yes, it seems to me that this picture is more like the reiters of the Thirty Years' War, and it is more appropriate for that period. And the song is actually about the Landsknechts, which is more of the 16th century. But the whole problem is that this song actually mentally fits what happened in Germany during the Thirty Years' War.
Like I find just listening to your sings easier then listening to a video of how to pronounce all the different vowls in your language and what those different letters sound like

@@dr.ludwig very very much agreed.
Rare that uploaders of this song specify that they are speaking about Lady Mary, good one, Ludwig.
People often forget how religious they were

And these brave men along with the Spanish fought until the bitter end of Rocroi, rest in peace braves
One of my favorite Landsknecht songs

Spanish Lyrics / Letra en Español:
Nuestra amada señora
del frío Bronnen,
dadnos a los pobres lansquenetes
un Sol caliente.
No nos dejéis congelarnos,
que hallemos refugio en el hostal.
Llegamos con los bolsillos llenos
y al irnos están vacíos.
Los tambores, los tambores,
¡Alarma! ¡Alarma! ¡Alarma!
¡Ayridiridirán-ridirán! ¡Avanzad!
¡Lansquenetes, avanzad!
Los tambores tocan parada,
las banderas de seda ondean.
Y ahora por suerte y gracia,
nos vamos al campo (de batalla).
El maíz crece en el campo,
la trucha pica en el río.
Un cálido viento sopla desde Geldern,
llegando hasta Berg-op-Zum.
Los tambores, los tambores,
¡Alarma! ¡Alarma! ¡Alarma!
¡Ayridiridirán-ridirán! ¡Avanzad!
¡Lansquenetes, avanzad!
Tragamos polvo al caminar,
los bolsillos cuelgan vacíos.
Él emperador engulle todo Flandes,
ojalá y se sacie para siempre.
Él piensa en conquistar tierras
como si el mundo le perteneciera.
Yo tengo una amada en casa
que llorará si muero.
Los tambores, los tambores,
¡Alarma! ¡Alarma! ¡Alarma!
¡Ayridiridirán-ridirán! ¡Avanzad!
¡Lansquenetes, avanzad!

Came here from Ingen. Wunderbar!
*Yes*
Epic song
Is it weird to say that I can pronounce German very easily now because of your songs but I don't understand it lol

tfw there are no more mercenary countries
Was bedeutet das Linie „heiridiridiran, ridiran, frisch voran“?
Nothing, it's like lalala. Maybe it comes from Latin ridere which means laughing.
Hey Dr Ludwig warst du schonmal in Würzburg?
Leider nur dran vorbei gefahren
Das ist aber traurig.
