Flood escape and the sequel were my introduction to the obby community and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I stopped playing a while ago as I just lost interest in roblox as a whole, but Both Flood escapes will always hold a special place in my heart.

flood escape community maps shortened as fe2cm is one of my favourite obby game since you can create an obby how hard you want it to be and play it and even play other peoples obbies and there is even a fe2cm list that has the hardest maps verified/beaten which is cool
There also special features that not in original roblox like button mechanics, wallhops, ziplines, slide things, swim oxygen amount and maybe more i forgot. Also fe2 has faster player walk speed than usual roblox
There's also the doom wall (especially the "the doom wall 2: burst") games which also have unique animations and mechanics (like fe2). It's really nostalgic to the people who played it, and is one of the best games that still gives that old roblox vibe

theres 2 communities worth talking about and one is the completely dead shadow run game that used clicking in obbies which was really fun for gameplay, and gameshow groups and how they do obbies - roblox games inspired by wipeout uses tripping objects for gameplay which really sucks but is kind of controllable, and theres a certain format for most gameshow groups with obbies
There's an extremely underrated obby community known as the time trial community where there are roblox games with extremely short and easy obbies with the initial objective is to complete these obbies as fast as possible and try to get the world record.
It's a very subjective topic but usually there are a few set baselines for a certain tier and you judge other obbies' tiers based on the baseline or there are attempts to convert jtoh difficulty into tiers but nobody agrees on these
im not sure about earlier difficulties but i think it is generally agreed that 15 = catastrophic, 16 - 17 = horrific, 18 - 19 = unreal, 20 - 21 = nil keep in mind this isn't always the case especially with really long towers. But yea I have no idea what the obby in the thumbnail is
each tier is supposed to be 2x harder than the last one, which means: Tier 3 is two times harder than tier 2 Tier 5 is 16 times harder than tier 1 Tier 17 is 4096 times harder than tier 5 and so on
I just play dco's because, unlike tower obbies for example, Its a type of game you can play casually, it adapts to your skill level due to the nature of the idea, and you can just stop any time you want without losing any progress because dco's are built in short stages, with a checkpoint at the end of every single one. Ive been playing dco's for a couple years, i started being absolute garbage at obbying, but now i became pretty decent at it.
Good for you, but I wish tiered obbies were more popular, the community of tiered obbies is so small and I rarely find someone who also plays tiered obbies in obby creator but I often find difficulty charts and they are so popular that one might not even look good and ends at hard difficulty and not finished but have like 3k likes
The good dco's are not always the popular ones imo. Impossible Obby and Wraparround Obby, which are the 2 dco's i played the most, are very good ones, especially considering the fact that one of them, the wrap one, has less than 100 players at a time. Tbh if i had the time to dedicate to tiered obbies i would get into it, but with school and other activities its hard to get enough time.

i used to play a shit ton of obbies a little while ago, mainly tiered obbies, and the hardest i beat was a tier 15, but after that obbies were just boring so i quit

super checkpoint was a really good game, it’s a shame that they ruined the game with pets, lucky blocks, and i’m pretty sure getting rid of the lives system all together

tiered obbies are lowkey balanced terribly, so its hard to say when you can find both an easy and a remorseless in tier 4
