One of my favorite tracks from the 80s.
Kayleigh by Marillion from the album Misplaced Childhood (1985)
Written by Fish and produced by Chris Kimsey.
Recorded in the famous Hansa Studios in West-Berlin.
Featured the PPG wave 2.2, the Roland Juno-106 and the Moog Taurus bass pedal
This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.
My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers.
Check out the original songs with the original artists here on UA-cam.
Thank you.

I'm so glad you played the whole guitar solo,it sounded so good! My husband didn't believe it was a synthesizer, so.I showed him and he was very impressed!
Thank you so much for your kind words.
Nothing can beat Mr. Rothery and a real guitar but I appreciate it.🙌
Fantastic! Haven’t heard a Taurus used for decades.
The bass beast 🔥🎹
Thank you for watching
That electric guitar patch sounded so real and so nice!
Thank you 🎹🙌
@@retrosound72 E-Mu library or sampled yourself?
@@soriacx I sampled the sound many years ago
@@retrosound72thats uncanny! Sounds incredible…
Splendid.
Thank you 🎹🙌
Richtig gut gemachtes Cover. Marillion ist auch total unterschätzt meiner Meinung nach. Danke
Danke für das Lob! Und da gebe ich dir absolut Recht. Marillion stand immer im Schatten der anderen ProgRock Bands. Zu unrecht.
One of my fav songs ever, perfectly covered!. Congrats. Loved al those sounds, specially the nylon style intro EII and the PPG (not to mention the Taurus) :)
Thank a lot Jose.🙌
Awesome work once again ! Love the Moog
Thank you 👍
Liebe Grüße, bist klasse 👍🏻
Vielen Dank!
Excellent!
Thanks a lot 🙌✨
The Emulator doing the guitar solo was amazing dude!! Kudos for that
Thank you so much
Brilliant cover of one of my favourite songs - thank you!
Thank you for watching 🙌🎹
Beautiful
Thanks a lot
Nicely done. Can't get enough of the PPG 🙂
Here we are .
Thank you 🎹
Very,Very Nice.Sounds Fantastic!
Thanks a lot
Great cover.
Thank you 🙌
Can’t believe how good your demos are. Another mind blowing performance here. I can’t get over that guitar part you played on the emulator. You would never know by hear that was the emulator doing that. It just blows me away. 40 year old synths doing this stuff, you can see why these synths was so in demand in the day. Can the PPG wave do good sampling like your emulator can ? I mean could you do that guitar part as well on a PPG ? Sorry for asking just don’t know much about the PPG sampling part. Anyway as you know, you are a fantastic musician and just spot on with your demos. I take my hat off to you. Thank you for sharing your skills and these beautiful synths with us.
Thank you very much Michael for your feedback. I really appreciate your words and your feedback.
With the first PPG system you can do sampling in 8 bit resolution. The processing is very extensive but also more complicated than with the Emulator II. I therefore prefer to use the Emulator or the Emax for sampling. The PPG has its strengths in the generation of waveforms and re-synthesis. In other words, creating new waveforms from samples. It is a powerful tool.
@@retrosound72 thank for the information on the PPG. I know it’s a powerful tool I seen it used a lot by band, etc. just never seen much about its sampling capability. I seen the computer part that adds onto it which I think is something to do with sampling too and the extra keyboard you can put on it. I know the value of these machines are going up high now. Beautiful German engineering at its best.
Nice. It’s neat to see which synths were used on certain parts.
Thank you for your feedback
Nice. Good song. Still my fav album is clutching the straws which is really underrated.
Thank you for your feedback
Perfect ! 👏🏻
Thank you 🙌✨
Think Mr Rothery would be impressed with that solo Marko.
My fave cover by far....It too like the album its from...Sounds amazing on headphones
Thank you so much.🙌🎹
But nothing ca beat Mr. Rothery's playing and the sound of a real guitar.
Wow I definitely didn't expect you to do Marillion. Any chance of doing Eloy. It definitely does sound like Marillion.
@@marccarpenter2680 I love Marillion. Misplaced Childhood is one of my favorite albums ever. 🙌🎹
Yes i also agree on that, it is my favorite Marillion album.
Bravo its top 👏👍👌
Thank you 🎹🙌✨
Considering the realism of that guitar sound, I just imagined that, if I were Scot Wedge or David Rossum, I would want you to go back in time to win they were trying to selfie original emulator and help them with marketing. That’s just one example of how the potential for a keyboard or synthesizer like the Emulator II hasn’t been properly explored yet.
Agree with you. 🎹👍
Those Taurus pedals tho’. ❤
👍
SENSACIONAL
@@Oberheim.OB-XA thank you 🙌🎹
I assumed there'd be a lot more DX7.
Mostly PPG on the album Misplaced Childhood
@@retrosound72 Nice one! I learnt something, there. 👍
@@FatNorthernBigot 👍
IRRC Mark Kelly's live rig in those days was a JP8, PPG 2.2, Pro-One, Minimoog, CP70 piano and a B3
@@SamLowryDZ-015and Taurus of course
Awesome job! How about making it longer by adding "Pseudo Silk Kimono" and "Lavender"? 🤗 😉
Thank you 🎹
I join other commentators: the guitar is awesome!!!
Thanks a lot 🙌
Классическое произведение 80х сыгранное вами на ретро инструментах. Уверен, что эта красивая песня звучит ностальгически для многих сейчас. Спасибо за приятные воспоминания.
Спасибо большое мой друг и хорошего вечера ✨🙌🎹
@@retrosound72 👋😊👍👍👍👍👍
Now all you need is a guy who sounds like Phil Collins but pretends he doesn’t on vocals.
You must sing 😁👍
I’ve always thought Fish sounded like a Scottish accented hybrid of Gabriel and Collins
If you are American like me, I know you don't believe this, but "Marillion" is a real band and not made up!
Misplaced Childhood ✨
This American knows. Been a fan since 1985
George RR Martin swears he didn’t steal the band name for a troubadour character, oh no ..!
Ok 🙌
