Yeah, 'anyone can play bass' if you're playing for a shitty pop-rock band using the IV-I-V-vi progression. Not anybody can play; complex walking basslines, slap bass, legato, tapping, funk style popping, natural harmonics, vibrato, sweep picking... etc There's also no need to learn any scales when you play in a band like this either. to be completely honest, playing guitar for this type of music is equally as piss easy, anybody can play bass or guitar for a band like this it's just power chords and palm muting. Playing guitar or bass becomes so much more complex if you branch out into other genre like jazz, metal, melodic hardcore, ska etc.

@818KLOWNER it is a matter or preference if you like to use a pick go pick a bass if you want to use your fingers then use it many people still thinks that a bass guitar is a upright bass but no it is a BASS GUITAR not the big wide upright bass :)
