    Wes Craven is a genius for this film. The levels of psychology he put in. The reason why her hair turned grey, is under enormous stress, like straight traumatizing stuff, its been studied that strands of your hair can actually turn silver or white. Using induced by the chemicals that trigger fear. The reason why he used red and green for the sweater, is because based on a study he researched it was said that the two hardest colors for the brain to combine was red and green together. The knife hands were due to him hearing a cat's claws on a window. Which is why he loved to use those classic screeching sounds of the claws on steel. The burned man image was due to him studying a bit on how nurses who were supposed to be professionals react to different types of physical trauma. Burn victims seemed to get the most unprofessional reaction. Everything thing in this film was filmed psychology from perspective horror. Ones own perception. Robert England when he came to addition for the role. Was hungover like a mofo from the night before. He was in his car smoking a cigarette thinking "how on earth am I gonna get this role?" As things weren't going great for him at the time. So he just said, "screw it, it's a horror role right?" And used an old theatre trick from the 20's through 50's. So he drabbed som of the ash from his cars ash tray and smeared it under his eyes. And when he walked in, he sat down. I dont believe he even said any of his line when prompted. He just stared at them. And stared. And Wes craven was just like. Yep.. that's our Freddy.

    All practical effects in all the first 4 movies the 5th or 6th one is where they started to use CGI in the mix. I love this movie and apparently it was based on something Wes read about in the paper about a boy who said if he sleeps he will die and when they gave him drugs to make him sleep that is exactly what happened so Wes got to thinking what could have killed him in his dreams and thus the Dream Demon was born.

    • @83shadow3
      @83shadow3 2 роки тому

      That was not the main reason for the controversy. For the most part except for a few people everyone had a problem with the fact they changed Freddy Krueger's Powers around. They took a dream demon that only kill people in their dreams an only had powers in the dream world. Then put him in the real world with this Powers intact then all the kills happened in the real world to people who weren't sleeping. Thats the big controversy around that movie and why it's hardly liked and people say to skip it. Because it's called A Nightmare on Elm Street but everything happens in the real world. It for the most part has nothing to do with any character being gay or straight. It's what they did with Freddy Krueger that piss people off. People need to understand that and stop thinking it's about the gay character or actor. What they did would be like the equivalent of in the same way having Michael Myers in Halloween 2 suddenly killing people in their dreams all year round. It makes no sense because Michael Myers in the first movie is shown to physically kill people in the real world on Halloween. In this movie Freddy Krueger is showon and explained to only have powers to kill people and do things in the dream world. To take that and put that into the real world goes against that character and that's what happens in a second movie. And yes there might be spoilers but people need to stop saying it's because of an actor's whatever preference of who they date.

    I honestly have mixed feelings about Nancy's mom dying. Sure she was the main character's mom, but she kept denying Freddy as a threat despite Nancy proving over and over that she wasn't crazy. Plus, her constant denial made her partly responsible for Glen's death. Glen was also at fault because he fell asleep when he shouldn't have a second time, which was his downfall

  • @adamclifton29
    @adamclifton29 2 роки тому +1

    Freddy wasn't real and he didn't kill anyone. This was all a bad dream of Nancy's. Wes Craven never intended for a sequel but New Line Cinema wanted to make a franchise out of it so they had him put on that ending that left it open for a Part 2.

    I know alot of interesting things and behind the scenes facts of this movie because I seen and listen to bonus features and audio commentaries for it. So I will stick with the key important ones instead of a small not important ones.
    Like this movie was released in 1984 but thats only because unlike Halloween or Friday the 13th. Everyone in Hollywood seen this movies script and turned it down because it was too weird and risky for them. Unlike Halloween and Friday the 13th movie studios automatically okay let's make this movie. It took years for Wes Craven to find someone to agree to work on it then it was. Only New line Cinema who was interested but back then new line Cinema was a small. Movie studio that only made B grade horror movies straight to VHS movies. Then they had to do a lot of things to get the money to make the movie because. New line did not have the money to make a major production movie. But it worked out and the movie was made that's why new line Cinema is now often referred to as the house that Freddy built. Because it was only because of the success with The Nightmare on Elm Street movies it was taken as a serious movie studio. Then it became a major movie studio like it became today all because of a Nightmare on Elm Street. Now the reasons for the sequels was actually important for this movie franchise. Because the sequels were made because the movie studio New line Cinema absolutely needed the money to keep the lights on an the bills paid and to keep from going into bankruptcy. Because they were still mainly a small B grade horror movie studio that made straight to VHS movies. The only movies that made enough to pay their bills and stay open where The Nightmare on Elm Street movies. So none of that money went into their pockets it went into their business. Unlike Halloween for example or Friday the 13th those movie studios made those movies just to get money for their pockets.
    Wes Craven was doing booby traps long before Home Alone. Wes Craven had booby traps in his first movie The Last House on the Left and that definitely predates Home Alone. In that audio commentary he says that being Wes Craven that he has always had a fascination with booby traps.
    Every thing in this movie was done with practical effects there was no CGI. Which is amazing considering how much a CGI for simple things nowadays. Like for prime example when Freddy Krueger is pushing and slightly coming out of the wall. All they did was have a section of wall with a section of spandex the same color as the wall. So someone pushed the spandex going Beyond the Wall you jump to newer movies they do that with CGI. When it takes longer than putting spandex on a wall and pushing it out. Tina's bedroom was used as Glenn's bedroom because it was a rotating room. The actress cralled along the wall as it rotated She got vertigo at some point when she started to be on the floor which was the ceiling. Wes Craven had to go no you are on the ceiling you are not on the floor as he was standing on the ceiling at the time which became the floor. Because they strapped her in a harness at that point so she wouldn't fall and hurt herself. But when they used it for Glen a bucket of blood under the floor with a lid rotate the room with a camera on that same level as the bedroom floor whare the bucket was. Then Floor became the ceiling in the sealed room remove the lid or something like that.
    The bathtub scene simple take a bathroom set put it over a big giant water tub cut a hole out of a bathtub put on top of it big water tub. Then have the person playing Freddy in the big water tub underneath the set and bathtub.
    Also the idea for this movie came from real life events to an extent. Like actual real life newspaper articles like how someone said to his family if he sleeps he will die. No one believed him he fell asleep and he died no one knows why he died. So most of the stuff in this movie about sleep was based on real life events.
