I'm Canadian and married to a wonderful Filipina. One crucial thing that I imposed on myself was to learn the Pilipino language. Now I can speak it fluently and fully comprehend it. My wife can’t say negative things about me.😁
Hahaha
Checkmate haha!
Hahahahaha I am proud of you! Salamat po! Natawa ako sa Comment mo po!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Kudos then hahaha. Lagot asawa mo
If you truly love the Philippines and the people, you will learn their language. We shouldn't expect Filipinos to adapt to us all the time. If you live here, you should adapt to them
True Daddy Dwaine! Char 😅
Dapat lang and one good example of that are the Mormons. Even as short as one year most of them ay nakakasalita na ng Tagalog or local dialect. It is your willingness to learn and it is indeed when you love the country and it's people.
ikaw yung isa sa mga example dun sir dwaine..
ingat kayo lagi ni ate shantal at sa baby po ninyo.. ingat po palagi
@ i agree, but one must be aware that filipinos who are composed of different ethnic groups have different language preferences even if filipino is our national and official language. others prefer communicating in english and/or their first language instead of filipino. a foreigner should consider the language preference of the filipinos one is interacting with. it is not always the national language that is prefered. but it is good to learn the national language since it is understood by the majority even if some prefer another language in their everyday conversations.
Right. No Excuses
I have a lot of foreign friends here in the Philippines. Despite living here in the Philippines for a long time, only a few of them are fluent in Filipino. This is because that Filipinos are bilinguals. Meaning to say, a lot of Filipinos are fluent in English. Because of this, foreigners living here in the Philippines are not that pressured in learning our language.
yea visayas and mindanao mostly knows bisaya tagalog and english.
@@Balmung812 Visayans and Mindanaoans prefer learning to understand and speak English than Filipino so that they can become more globally competitive. #Fact
Highly Possible but hopefully Tagalog don't die off. My Lillie nephews and nieces as young as 7, grade 1, primary school? They speak English real good. When I was their age, won't mention how long ago, haha, I wasn't speaking that good English same as those my age. Just wondering in some non English speaking countries like Korea if their youngsters now speak English? Do you know?
I agree, I even have a foreign co worker who told me why will he made an effort to speak filipino language when everybody around him speaks English!
exactly. theres no point. i think the only filipinos who are pressuring foreigners into learning the local language are the uneducated ones. dont listen to them.
Hi Nelly, it's not a problem not knowing the different kinds of dialects as long as you know tagalog its because it is the universal tongue in the Philippines. It means as long as you speak tagalog, you will never get lost for everyone in the country speaks and understands tagalog. Whether you are in Visaya or Mindanao, they understand and speak tagalog. If you ask them something in tagalog, they will surely reply tagalog to you. Just that simple.
The Visayans learned their 'tagalog' from teevee, with the thick accent.
@@d.l.c7456 agree , I have plenty friends from Visayas and Mindanao and they said that they learn tagalog bu watching teleserye
But English is pretty common/standard as well.
They are languages btw, not dialects
English is ok. It’s a waste of time to learn tagalog if everyone can speak english
Nelly,I'll give you some basic Tagalog that we use everyday.
1.Magandang Umaga🌞
-Good Morning
2.Kamusta ka?
-How are you?
3.Ano ang ginagawa mo?
-What are you doing
4.Saan ka pupunta?
-Where are you going?
5.I love you😊❤️
-Mahal kita
6.Ingat ka palagi
-Take care always
Yes Nelly Tagalog is universally understood wherever you go in the Philippines. Learn Tagalog language and you can communicate to Filipinos wherever places you want to visit the country.
Robert Velazquez, Your comment is almost perfect. Almost because you use the word "universally", which is used for the Whole Universe.
not at all.
Youve mistaken national to universal facepalm emoji
@@taglavis Perhaps he doesn't know the difference.
Yeah nationality
Nelly... you're flourishing... you're coming into your own... and you're succeeding in building your own brand
I grew up in Bontoc, mt. Province but tagalog is rarely spoken except maybe in pilipino language class in 1950's and 60's. We use to make fun of our pilipino teacher up to a point she gets frustrated. I started to speak tagalog only when I left the Cordillera region. I agree with Jessica, Filipinos should preserve our national culture and pilipino language.
I understand Jessica was essentially learning multiple languages at a young age and learning 3 languages or more is difficult even if young.
I wish you and Jessica the best in learning Tagalog and thank you for appreciating Philippines.
When we are young we learn 4 languages including are those: bisaya, Tagalog, English and spanish. When i am in college i added Deutsch language and i like it.
actually you pick up languages easier as a kid. I spoke Tagalog and Bisaya and English at a young age.
I really appreciate the effort of ForeigNoys trying to speak a Filipino language. I think it’s best to speak Tagalog since you’re based in Manila, and it’s one of the National language. But again, really appreciate the effort because learning to speak another language is hard. It takes practice.
My daughter was born in canada, I raised her in the phil from 1 year old to 7 years old but she speaks very canadian english. The funny thing is instead of she has to learn the bisaya or tagalog, the yaya and the rest of the people working with us were the one learning good english.(not bad huh) When she went back to canada its just easy for her the get along with friend because of her fluency of the english language.now shes now 12 years old, she starts to learn tagalog by googling words she wants to know.
I suggest if you're planning to learn Philippine Language You guys should consider focusing on Tagalog/Filipino since it is the national language it can be used everywhere in the country, don't get distracted by the dialects.
Tama ...
Tama. Kaya kahit saan cgurong lugar s pilipinas my ngtatagalog o nkakaintindi ng tagalog.
It’s Tagalog and Bisaya. If bisaya she could almost understand 2 major islands.
@@whitepouch0904 Isang linguahe nga hirap na Sila, tapos gusto mo pa ipagsabay nila Tagalog at bisaya???much better if mag focus sa language na may malaking benefit. kesa sa dialect na restricted Lng sa specific Area. tsk, tsk
One thing that will really push you to learn the language I think, is when you are dating a Filipino man and things are quite serious. That will make you so eager to learn. I have noticed that when you are dating someone of different language and culture, you get inspired to learn.
You're doing great, Nelly. One language at a time. The only things which matters is your well being and mental health. Enjoy your journey and it's always good to see happy.
Many Filipinos are multilingual! We acquired our 1st (native) language at home, and Tagalog and English at school. Filipino (the official name) is not going to die yet!
Filipino language is not dying...highly spoken in the vernacular. Tho "Taglish" has become common amongst the youth.
I think for Jessica it's an extra pressure to learn Filipino because more korean vloggers are becoming fluent in the language like Dasuri, Ryan Bang and others. 😁😁
I like Kristy pata a lot..she's fluent in Filipino.
Idagdag nyo pa si Jinho 😂😂😂
Include Hana Cho
Pagkaalam ko si Hana Cho pinakafluent sa kanila.
Pati si Juwonee
Salamat Nelly for this nice video/topic,reaction about our pambansang wika, tagalog or Filipino.
Stay safe and happy, keep on smiling 😃
Don't worry Nelly, all Filipinos know Tagalog as our "national language" even we have our own dialects in different regions.
Agree, don't be afraid to learn it, Nelly, so that they won't sell you 😄just kidding!
yeah Nelly, you can start with tagalog, you'll be able to get by with it
Compared to Cebuano tagalog is easier to study. But most Filipinos can speak Cebuano bec Mindanaoans also talk in Cebuano
To be good communicator just mingling with Filipino spoke Tagalog one or five words need familiarize it than memorize keep relax enjoy listen and try some simple sentence even it is broken Tagalog the more you socialize and not allow them speak to in English even you talk in English their response in Tagalog from it you will familiarize because you initiate to what you want says. Ex. Can we visit to Our friend? The Filipino response in Tagalog you familiarize those words and do it several time. Etcetera. I do see for one year you notice the progress😊
Filipino is our National language (a mix of all Philippine dialect) not Tagalog.
WheneverJessica speaks one can’t help but listen to every word. She’s an amazing speaker. Love the way she talks.
True. You can tell she's very conscious of what she says and it shows in her videos.
Learning the BASICS of Tagalog Will Work Wonders!!-- almost all Provinces, even if some do speak pidgin English,..a lot Still UNDERSTAND TAGALOG coz they watch LOCAL TV SHOWS,TAGALOG MOVIES,ETC.... and beside, when YOU GIVE THAT EFFORT TO TALK in our Language.. that means to US that the Foreigner LOVES OUR COUNTRY AND ITS PEOPLE!!-- HE/SHE GIVES MUCH EFFORT TO LEARN OUR LANGUAGE!!--- and that really Mean Sooo much to us!!
I am not embarassed to say this, I have Filipino blood but I do not know how to speak the language fluently. I took months of tagalog classes and have not mastered the language, just the basics. I get confused with tagalog and visayan. There was a Filipino man that said something very bad and humiliating to me because I didnt know the language. Honestly, I don't expect non-Filipinos and foreigners to learn our language. We already appreciate you guys for loving our country and spreading awareness of our culture. NELLY never ever feel pressured that you have to learn everything, especially the language. I noticed that people tend to pressure people, especially foreigners. Just let people be.
This happens to me too. Its a generation gap thing. Most older individuals dont understand that the younger generation are raised to be English speakers. I just wish they won't make such a big deal of it especially since its not like we had a choice what our primary language is growing up.
@@mariaclaradelossantos398 but it is a way lot better if you could learn to speak and understand our very own language, Pilipino tayo di ba?
@@cbuanimax tama ka. Nakakaintindi naman ako at nakakapagsalita. Mahirap lang talaga para sakin. If I need to articulate deeper thoughts I need to switch to English is what I'm saying. I believe kids in Manila are the same. Its sad but a reality.
I'm actually very impressed with you and Jessica for really trying to learn our language. Most Filipinos nowadays don't have that passion. As you guys have thought, the Filipino language does seem to be a dying language. As a Filipino myself, I feel so bad about it myself.
Siguro ikaw lang yun
I quite agree with you. Yes, there are some or a few Filipinos who were born and raised here in the Philippines most of whom belonged to the so-called "alta sociedad" almost never spoke or understood Filipino at all. You want me to mention names???

Hi nelly happy to watch you again its okay to learn tagalog lang po muna since it's so diverse, ingat po lagi and smiles.God bless po
Yes more than 120 dialects and languages in the Philippines but Filipino is the national language which is 80% Tagalog and 20% combination of other Filipino dialects like cebuano, hiligaynon, iloko, pangasinan Zoe, etc. Even then other regions like Mt. Province, in Visayas & Mindanao, most people are comfortable at using English to communicate in any setting
It’s actually amazing to know Filipinos who can speak Bisaya and fluent in English but can’t speak Tagalog. Not to worry, you’ll pick up and learn. Take Basel for instance (wandering Syrian) and how fluent he is now in Tagalog.
Law of use and disuse. The Filipino subject was the only time I used Filipino as I never watched Filipino tv growing up. Therefore, I speak better English than Tagalog. I can understand it and can figure out even the deep words but dont expect me to translate from English to Tagalog or even write an essay in straight Filipino.
Jessica really cares for the Philippines and the Filipino people. She's really a Korean but her heart is Filipino.
Hi Nelly…that’s why I also like Jessica she’s also included on my top of the lists my fav foreign vloggers ..keep it up Nelly we ll always support you all humble and nice genuine vloggers…thankz…😊
nice nelly the language, just learn english and tagalog here in the philippines, filipinos will understand that anywhere in the regions. thanks nelly thats great in learnings languages. thank you nelly this is awesome
Nelly, you know Kulas a Canadian vlogger known as becoming filipino speaks tagalog, bisaya and other dialects because what he did is every town or provinces he goes to he asked the locals how to say this or that and he make notes of it. Also, to begin with for a few weeks hire a teacher online to teach him bisaya and translate it in English and he learns tagalog by asking people around him 😊
Maybe she doesn't want to make any effort to learn the language :) it's just her.
Its because kulas loves the Philippines! Most foreigner who truly love the PHilipline dedicated to commited to learn the language
Keep safe always nelly we are on your side to support you
Besides your videos Nelly, I love watching Jessica's videos as well!
Hi Nelly, Tagalog is the main language of Philippines but we have branches of languages in every province, but we all understand and can speak English. I think for foreigners like you vloggers you should learn to speak Tagalog because you can use that wherever you go in the Philippines because Filipinos can understand that.
So we will expect you to learn and speak Tagalog. 😊👍❤️🇵🇭
I need to correct the notion that the primary language of the Philippines is Tagalog. No, it isn't. It is Filipino. But the basis is the Tagalog language since most Filipinos can understand the lingua franca (the primary language in Metro Manila) at various levels of fluency. In the 1930s, when President Manuel Luis Molina Quezon signed Executive Order No. 134, the primary role of the Surian ng Wikang Pambansa (Institute for the National Language) was to study what language in the Philippines will be the basis of the would-be national language and Tagalog was the one chosen since, as I have mentioned earlier, the language that can be understood by people from Aparri to Jolo, although in varying levels of fluency.
@@NoelBarcelona i agree, some people are really messed up. I mean, there is a reason why we have FILIPINO subject in school, and not TAGALOG.
Nelly all Filipinos speaks basic Tagalog. When you go to the north they speak ILOCANO but they can also speak Tagalog same goes with other regions. Try to learn Tagalog and it will make your life more easier for you when you go around the Philippine islands.
thanks for sharing 😊
Agree.....focus on Tagalog/Pilipino first as it's part of the school curriculum nationwide. I am from Cebu and when I lived in Manila for 12yrs, it took me while to learn the conversational Tagalog. My school mates were amused at my formal Tagalog🤣. I was more comfortable speaking in English....char😜. You'll get the hang of it Nelly when you speak in Tagalog more often😊
@@WhatsupPhilippines Nelly, nach 4-1/2 Monate am Bundesscprachenamt in Huerth (in der Naehe vom Bonn) koennte ich Hochdeutsch sprechen. We Pinoys learn foreign languages very quickly, but German -- ay! mas mahirap kaysa Ingles.
Hi, Nelly! Thank you for loving our country. We love you too! 😊
You are so alive, so natural and spontaneous, the energy is great. keep up! all the best ;-)
Hi Nelly, if you’re really interested to learn Filipino language, I suggest start in Tagalog.
In Philippines, its the dialects that are so many not language, because theres only one language, its called Filipino but the technical dialect used is Tagalog, that will be perfectly enough. Its not necessary to learn every dialect in every provinces, but if you do its a bonus.
😊
The key in learning the language is to be “real Interested”, coz many tries, but because the heart doesn’t really have the “wanting” so it will be hard to learn. And don’t worry thinking you’ll sound funny, coz Pinoys will not mind, instead they will find that you sound cute and will admire you more.
Correct me if I'm wrong, wala yata tayong Lenguahe na Tagalog, kundi wikang PILIPINO ang Tagalog ay tumutukoy sa Tao hindi sa lenguahe.
Yeah! I hope you are doing well. Salamat Nelly for sharing your video with Jessica Lee. 🌹💕🇵🇭♥️🏝🎄☮️Take care and stay healthy.
You don't say. I'm Filipino and I only know one dialect. You are far better than most of us. I'm still learning by watching all the TV ads.
LoL!!
I was born in the Philippines and i do not even understand my fellow Filipinos who are from the South! So we communicate in English here abroad. This not compulsary..it is your choice if you want to learn Tagalog. God gave us choices and we respect yours! Be happy and I wish you the very best of everything.💌🙏🥂 Watching from Scandinavia.🌏🌈🙏
Tagalog is our national language and most filipino will understand the language. Looking forward for a vlog where you will speak only tagalog hehehe.. i remember George and Lucy have speak only tagalog vlog hehe.. also a great idea to have a collab vlog with Jessica Lee 😍
its a matter of dedication and immersion just like anything else.
Hi Nelly! Don't feel guilty about not being able to speak Filipino/Tagalog fluently it's totally understandable in your case, you being a foreigner here in our country. I'm sure that you have been trying to learn Filipino for quite a long time and for me that's what's important in learning any language. At least you are eager to learn and speak the Filipino language unlike some Filipinos who were born, raised and have been living here in the country for a long time who sadly, almost never learned and spoke Filipino.
I wish you Viel Glück! und Alles Gute! 😄
Tagalog language is not dying, it’s the national language and forever will be
I am 100% filipino from Cebu, and my son who is 9 speaks fluent in english, but struggle in tagalog. The reason is because in school the language they used is english.
Looking forward for more of your videos ate Nelly! 🫰😊 Take care always! God bless!
Nice to see you blooming again.
NEVER Filipino language will die. Never❤ It is like a river that smoothly and freely flows.
Still Tagalog or Filipino is the mother of all languages in the Philippines, whether you are Bisaya, Bicolano, Ilocano, Batangueno, Chavacano. So it is always best to learn Tagalog where everyone speaks and understands, rather than focusing on just one dialect.
Don't feel bad, Nelly - you both will get there one way or another 😁❣️She didn't do too bad! I think Tagalog is the universal dialect, so I’ll start from there❣️Have fun and stay safe - btw, you look great and very happy, Natalie!
That's okay Nelly as long as Filipinos can understands you , no problem.
I love Jessica Lee the Korean lady. She is very nice and is really trying to learn a lot of Filipino languages. She is very unique lady and genuine. She is very patient in trying to experience what most Filipino has to go through just to earn a living. I enjoyed watching her here in Hongkong. If she comes to Hongkong I will cook something Filipino for her. That’s for sure.

Don't worry Nelly, I am also living in Brussels Belgium for 5 years now and I dont know how to speak the language. I can feel you ❤
Awww Nelly. Even I with my Japanese is pretty bad after a couple decades of learning it initially. It's so hard to focus especially that I have ADHD, hahaha! But yeah, don't be pressured. But I really hope you can meet Jessica some day and do a collab or something. You two look like you'd get along quite well. 🥰

It's alright Ms Nelly, as long as you are promoting our country in a positive way.
Yes please adjust. Whenever we go, we are always the one to adjust first even in our own motherland. Hope foreigners who wants to live in the Philippines will exert an effort to like study the Filipino language regardless if it's just the basic ones. Filipinos are very appreciative, simple gestures is enough.
Jessica is a very nice young woman. She makes friends everywhere she goes. When she returned to the Philippines after covid restrictions her classmates and teacher threw her a party. It was very touching for her and us,her subs/fans.
even we have different languages or dialects we can understand each other by using our natioanal language which is tagalog...
Tagalog is not a dying language in my country. The reason is that it is in the curriculum of our schools from primary to secondary, and to tertiary! If you speak 4 of them, that is good. You can add a little more, and off course, since you vlog about the Philippine culture, Tagalog is the right language to learn for you. I am an Ilonggo. I am also a polyglot, I speak Hiligaynon, Bisaya (Cebuano), Waray, Bikol, Masbateño, Ilokano, Zambal, Chabacano, Maranao, Kapampangan, and Pangasinan. I also speak several European and Asian languages. Once, I spoke to both of you in German before but, you did not respond to me. That's why I never tried it anymore. There's no sense in doing so. I just defended the use of our national language in the entire country. What Jessica mentioned had been not proven because I toured the country from north to south. I talked to them in Tagalog and they responded well, as well as, in there native languages! All the vlogs I had reacted to responded , but yours did not. However, as a Filipino I still patronize your vlog because I sympathized with you! Viel Glück und auf viedersehen!

Hi Nelly, I love the energy you have today :) always rooting for your fun and interesting videos. I hope to run into you in Tagaytay one day ;)
Just to clarify things "Filipino" is the person or nationality and "Pilipino" is the language or dialect. Being a Filipino and worked with TV Media, I had been around the Philippines and I can go around speaking "Tagalog" and still being understood simple because Pilipino is a standard subject in school around the Philippines. I beg to disagree that Pilipino is dying because Pilipino tele-serye is very much alive and Original Pilipino Music is also thriving doing good.
It's ok Nellie, you don't have to worry about that.
Hi, Nelly., I enjoyed the video. Very interesting
Iloveyou guys both. I'm so amaze that you love our country philippines.💖💖
Jessica grow up here in Philippines that's why she is good in Tagalog.,
Yes, Jessica is so right. It is so sad that the deep TAGALOG spoken long time ago is disappearing. I grew up as a little girl in Bulacan where the deep TAGALOG originated. When I go home to see my families living in Bulacan, it is so amazing the sound of it. They speak so endearing. I remember speaking as real Bulakena but no longer can speak a complete sentence without hearing English. I came to the U.S. at age 12 and remember my dad refused to answer us back in English.
Our national language is Tagalog
You can talk to any Filipinos in another parts of the Philippines, even Ilokanos, Kapangpangan, Visayan dialect, so there should be no confusion. Our International Language is English, so there's no problem for that.
Having conversation with children frequently helps .
