  • Built in 1876, Saint-Louis Square in Montreal is one of the most beautiful and authentic European-style neighbourhoods outside of Europe. Centred around a gorgeous cast-iron fountain and surrounded by colourful 19th century homes, the square is one of Montreal's most picturesque spots to relax on a sunny day.

I live in one of those apartments. I've always got to be careful about going to the window because there's always someone out there taking a picture of the place.

You should do a piece on all the tv shows and films done in Montreal. I do remember a comedic ghost show done there.

5:24 That's the B&B my husband and I stayed on our honeymoon! It was fabulous!
If you go there and see a plush Looney Tunes Marvin Martian, we got him from LaRonde for them! If you have a plushie (stuffed toy) they will take care of them when you're out. ❤

Happy that you put finally part of the Québécois culture in your videos. However you missed that André Gagnon, famous composer and pianist, Michel Tremblay, playright, that his theatre plays has been played all over the world, and many other artists are part of the square Saint-Louis history. I am encouraging you to put more about French culture in Montréal in your videos because that what shape the city. The artists who left their art pieces in metro stations should be a subject, Madeleine Ferron for example for Champ de Mars.... What makes our city special is because it is the cultural metropolis of québécois. Without that, without the French language, Montréal would not be unique.

I think you meant Marcelle Ferron? Her amazing stained glass is featured in the metro video. These videos are never going to cover everything you want them to. They are collage pieces made from what I can find. There are other channels out there that go into deeper detail and I encourage you to check them out (CapitaineMontréal being a great one). These videos attempt to show the authentic tourist experience of visiting these Montreal locations in the hopes it’ll get the person interested in visiting. There will come a time when Quebec’s cultural scene and the great artists that made it gets their own video, I promise! Merci pour ton encouragement, Claude!

I understand about videos welcoming tourists, this is very valuable... but when I am a tourist elsewhere, little peculiar stories about a location makes the exploration more interesting. As a proud montréalais and québécois, I know there is always something under the surface of things to explore. Anyway, I like very much your videos and see my views as constructive. Also, travelling abroad, so many people have told me that I am lucky to live here. Bravo!

@@claudelalonde1732 I have been told the same thing many times! An Italian man I met in Poland went on a rant about how much he loved Montreal when he found out where I was from 🥰

From what I saw on our first visit, many people from other countries are comfortable there more so than US probably because they are French speaking and there's more a European style, culture in Montreal. There is some dark underbelly there in terms of the French. Most of the area where US people live are not liked so much by the French Montreal people.

Do you think Montrealers don't like Americans? They are welcomed, so many visitors from the USA! Since Québec is not a religious society anymore, some people here are surprised that abortion or other social issues like guns are still on ongoing debate in your country. @@JayJay-gy7ye
