When I saw Men Without Hats in Boston, June 17, 2015, they played this song. Ivan (lead singer) told us "This song was originally about mescaline, but now it's about getting your clothes REALLY clean"
He said the same thing when I saw them in LA! I don't know why we would doubt it. I mean, I would think that there is more to it than that, as songs like this have lyrics that can be interpreted in many ways, but I'd guess that mescaline was involved somehow, if he said it. I mean, dude was/is a rock star. He probably partied hard. In any case, they put on an amazing show, and the new tunes from the album Love in the Age of War are incredible. I feel so happy that I can go to a Men Without Hats show and actually want to hear the new stuff as much as, if not more than, the old stuff.
I was in junior high when this came out still an awesome song and video still get a kick at seeing the mascot for Carnival de Quebec Monsieure Bonhomme😁💯👏
Love it! This is the first time hearing this! I grew up with 50s, 60s and 70s music, by the time the 80s hit, I was deep in business and didn't have time for anything else. However, the last decade of great music (the 80s) is all new to me now in the twilight of my life and I'm loving it! The current crap being released, just isn't worth the time, the 80S Rocked!!!
Make sure you listen to some A-Ha albums. If it is all new to you, you will be amazed by Morten Harket's voice. He is aging now but still sounds good and they are releasing a brand new cd this month. Mostly considered a one-hit wonder because of how popular their first song, TAKE ON ME was, but this Norwegian trio has had 12 albums and unbelievable success around the world. They are my favorite and i really hope you get a chance to hear them!

I still don't understand why this wasn't a massive hit. Fun, silly, and a blast to sing along to.
I think it charted relatively high, if I recall. But IMO it is a better song than "Safety Dance," which was a massive hit. It's hard to predict those things!
This song was really popular in my college days, 1987. It was played a lot on MuchMusic which was always on the big screen in the student lounge.
I guess because we did not know back then if it was the J. Geil's Band, Daryl Hall, or John Mellencamp singing.
This song was in the top 20 on MTV for many weeks, but it never got much radio play.
Canadian bands in the 80s did not get much exposure.
I have officially found my favorite song
I’m a metal/punk guy and I like this. Shhhhhhhhh!!!!!
Hey, no problem. I'm a big Iron Maiden, Ronnie James Dio, and Black Sabbath fan, and love me some Dead Kennedys, TSOL, and The Cramps, but I am not at all ashamed to say this is one of the catchiest tunes I've ever heard. Absolutely love it!
Oh--and UP THE IRONS!!!
Every time I hear this song I am instantly transported back to 1987, driving down the road in my dad's '74 Impala, blasting the radio with the windows down!
Lmao. 😂 I had a GOLD '72 Chevy Impala
I've played this song everyday since 1987
I play it whenever I have my Mp3 on.
Dick Blister liar
I bet you haven't.
Music selection at the hospital must be minimal.
But UA-cam was created in 2006
FINALLY MY FAVORITE POP GOES THE WORLD GET ME ❤️🤍💙

Always loved this song. I feel 18 again when I hear it. Dang what do they think of this world today..crazy. The world never was straightened out guys. Not so many people think they actually belong to the human race. It politics, color of your skin..All sorts of division and derision.
80s, 80s, What did you do to us?
😍😍😍
As a kid, I loved this song. Was one of my favorites.
They Told Us It Was Flat Back In The Day But We Were All Too Pre-Occupied To Realize That We Were Lied To On Such A Massive Scale ♥
Back when music videos were just that ...music videos...👍👍
I love Ivan Doruschuk sooo much. I have since I was little. His voice is just strangely soothing.
I forgot all about this one. I love this song! It epitomizes The 80’s
So..came from the vet..missed 3 quarters of my work shift, got pulled over by cops on the way to work after and got 580$ not realizing being from another province that my license expired just. They let me go tho. But after all that. I think I broke. But then u know what happens? I never heard this song before and it comes on. I’ve never had such a mood change. I laughed so hard. Recorded it on my phone so I could find it later. Honestly. I think this song saved my life that day. Weird things happen for crazy reasons. I love this band. Thanku guys for being there for me even tho u didn’t realize it. I really needed that. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ and fuck ya we can dance if we want to! Lots of love from Canada ❤️❤️🥰🥰😘😘
I grew up in the 80's yet never saw this video until now. Seriously, so much fun! If those reading this have never listened to the whole album, seriously , it's a masterpiece! Just brilliant!
J'ai passé mon adolescence avec ce groupe originaire de Montréal et je les écoute encore.
DATE WITH AN ANGEL BROUGHT ME HERE....WONDERFUL CLASSIC MOVIE OF THE 80'S...THIS SONG WAS PLAYED
Thank you Canada 🇨🇦 for this wonderful song ❤💦🎈🎹
I am 34 years old and this is the first time I heard this song. And I love it...
Same here and I’ll be 52 on Christmas Eve
I had a dream that I met Ivan and I told him, "I was the one dancing at your show in St Hyacinth." and he said, "I know." following the snow!!!!!! love you so much
I love Men Without Hats, one of the best bands of all time.
Patrick Ney,me too!!
With only two hits?
@@balikhartum6179 Right up there with The Beatles, apparently...
@@Nick_TV_Producer don’t forget The Rolling Stones too
@@balikhartum6179 plus other good non hits
But yeah get your point
When I saw Men Without Hats in Boston, June 17, 2015, they played this song. Ivan (lead singer) told us "This song was originally about mescaline, but now it's about getting your clothes REALLY clean"
Was he serious about the mescaline thing? He was just joking, right?
+Jenny Hatt I'm not sure, but hey! It's what he said!
It may be what he said but it's really about the globe earth/flat earth controversy/conspiracy. He was pulling your leg, mate.
+Xcorgi He was pulling his leg and for a few bucks he would have pulled something else of his. Har har!

"Everytime i wonder where the world went wrong".so relevant for today! 1987 was tame compared to now.

I totally agree with you! Greets from 🇩🇪. 😊
Cuando en el mundo se emitian agradables canciones.. tiempos aquellos! ahora todo esta inundado del repulsivo, inmundo y naseabundo regaeton. MUERTE AL REGAETON!!! 80X SIEMPRE!!!
God ignited the BIG BANG so roughly 12 billion years later he could watch and enjoy Men Without Hats singing "Pop Goes the World."-Lol!
"Date With An Angel" brought me here.
And...
Did it WORK OUT?
Did you Connect Well and are Still SEEING Each Other?
Curious...
❤ 😂
There's something about the sound of those old 80's 90's keyboards that make these songs stand out!!!
I love the dude who’s power-strumming an acoustic guitar
Es raro que tenga 6 Millones de visitas, y que en Argentina la mayoría cantamos esta canción 😎
