With due respect , the explanation is simply confusing : I'm interested in doing something means I'm thinking of doing it ,I would like to do it.
We use interested to.... to say how somebody reacts to what they hear /see / read / learn / know / find. For example ,I was interested to hear it = I heard it and It was interesting for me. Another example ,I was interested to hear that she had divorced John. The meaning of the above sentence is : I found out that she had divorced John and I found the information interesting.
Undoubtedly , to explain the difference between this two expressions is hard & at the same time to get the differences duly is harder. So ,one must be well prepared while dealing with such confusing issue . Otherwise , learners who don't usually research this sort of lessons are sure to get misled , thanks.
