Also comes with original titles recreation made by yours truly, for the second time on this short (with better source material). On this Turner print, during the opening of the sheet music at the beginning, the TV borders disappear by zooming out of the screen and the image zooms in at the same time, and I couldn't work it out on my video editor to mask the borders in a better way. That is why at one point, during the first scene of the cartoon when the bandmaster's shadow appears, you see the picture randomly cropping out in an abrupt mode. I am sorry, but I don't know yet an easier way to do this kind of editing, as I don't have more performant video editors at hand (if you know a way to do it, PM me).

This was the favourite cartoon of my granmother. I miss her very much. Se gave me a beautiful childhood
Less time had passed between the original premier of The Blue Danube (1867) and the production of this cartoon (1939) than had passed between the production of this cartoon and when it was uploaded to UA-cam. Kind of boggles the mind, doesn't it?
I've watched this show a long time ago in the 2000s as a child I remember seeing the lady with butterfly wings listening to her singing the melody and seeing the beauty of nature and all it's creatures turning the water blue and the pretty birds who flew through the rainbow those were the good old days when I was little🐿️🐇🐦🕊️🦉🦌🌻🌼🌸💮🏵️🌹🌲🌱🏞️🎶🎼🎵📯⛰️🏔️.
Yeah, blue is my favorite color
I remember seeing this when I was little
I remember watching this as a kid and loving the tone of blue. Sweet memories :)
This was favorite cartoon of my mother. I miss watching this with her.
I remember coming home from elementary school and this sometimes being on TV in the 1950's and 1960's. It as part of my growing love for classical music. But wasn't there more of it?: like harvesting grapes?
Hi grandpa
Seems like every major cartoon uses this classical song, SpongeBob to Minions.
it's a good classic song, indeed :) that is why
Yeah I love spongebob ❤ with spongebob and patrick 💓
I think most people remember it from 2001: A Spacy Odessey
I also remember watching this in between other cartoons growing up. Thank you for posting, it's such a treasure.
Magnificent beauty. Johann Strauss would be so happy to see his vision brought to life this way. Such opulence and elegance . I love the Bluest Danube.
A year before Fantasia on its unique segments, we had this short that's in the level on the music and animation.
There something you might need to know Disney and Hugh Harman (the animator that did The Blue Danube). According to Disney Wikia and Wikipedia:
"Harman and Ising lent their former ink-and-painters to Walt Disney Productions while Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was behind schedule. In addition, Disney contracted out the production of three Silly Symphony shorts - "Merbabies", "Pipe Dreams", and "The Little Bantamweight" - to Harman-Ising Productions. Of the three, Disney only kept one ("Merbabies"). The other two were released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as part of their Happy Harmonies series."
So what does MGM's The Blue Danube have to do with Disney? If Disney had contracted Hugh Harman to do Silly Symphony cartoon, then it's possible that The Blue Danube cartoon from MGM may have been originally a Disney animation that ended up on MGM. Maybe this cartoon could've been a Silly Symphony cartoon prototype for Fantasia or maybe when Disney put Fantasia in pre-production and planning, maybe Disney wanted to include the Blue Danube for Fantasia, but it got scrapped and this cartoon ended up as a MGM cartoon rather then Disney. It's hard to say but the fact that Disney had asked Hugh Harman to created Silly Symphony cartoon and some of them ended up becoming MGM cartoon rather then Disney makes me question that the Blue Danube and other Hugh Harman's cartoon made for MGM were originally Disney idea then ended up becoming MGM cartoon.
Hey can make some Lyrics of this MGM Melody
Fun Fact:
The Silhouette Musician at the Beginning of This Cartoon is Actually The Film's Composer, Scott Bradley.
Yes, but this has nothing to do with MGM.
Thank you for re-posting this! It took me forever to track it down. I remembered all the little cherubs scampering around, but I had no idea of the TITLE of it. Then it was up for a while, then taken down. Hugh Harman is right up there with Mr. Wally himself.
Best MGM Cartoon in My Opinion. The Blue Danube was originally released October 28, 1939.
Not you again
I actually cannot believe this short was released when WWII was still raging and even before Tom and Jerry were born.
Hitler didn't invade Poland until early Sept. '39, and this was released late Oct. The war had just started.
reminds me so many things....::: my dearest friend, my childhood, my home, my dads... my b/w philips tv. and i have no words. deeply emotioned.
This cartoon aired on MeTV this morning during "Toon in with Me" (12/6/2021).
I know
This is my childhood animation. Thank you for posting
Ironically, MGM is also produced 2001: A Space Odyssey which the Blue Danube music was used later on way back in 1968.
Right now we’re just waiting for the beginning of the main melody
Golden movie from the Golden Age.
Great childhood memories and thus began my love of classical music. Blue Danube is still my favorite!
Thankyou sooo much for posting this!!!!❤️❤️
This is SOOOOOO cool! I remembered this from my childhood! :)
Miss my childhood, man!
Beautiful cartoon 👶🐿 🐁 🐇 🐦🐢🌻🌹🌷🌳🌲☀🌈
Beautiful! I've never seen this before. I stopped counting how many times I've seen 'Fantasia'.
the music in this video sounded synthesized probably because of a wah wah effect left by mistake on the audio
i forgot to mention that music was performed on real instruments instead of synthesizers which didn't reach popularity until later years even though the audio of that cartoon has a wah wah effect
I Seen this movie in 1958 and i sée it today in 2023 again and again maybe i Can remember something i forget it that's Time. Thank you.
One's of my favorites 💙💕
I remember the fairy singing this song with the animals when i was a child
Whoever voiced her certainly had a wonderful soprano voice, that’s for sure. :)
Johann Strauss,it would've been proud 🦚 that the cartoon is posted back 🔙 on UA-cam and Walt Disney would've been proud 🦚 too! Merry Christmas ⛄🎄 Blessings and hugs ❣️🤗❣️🤗❣️🤗❣️🤗❣️🤗❣️🤗❣️🤗❣️🤗❣️🤗❣️🤗❣️🤗❣️🤗❣️🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏!

Originally released in October 1939.
Music arranged and conducted by Scott Bradley.
Can You do The transcript what The singing fairy of The blue danube said?
As Seen on Toon In with Me
Disney also stole the opening, showing the conductor and sheets of music. That is EXACTLY how Fantasia started. This was several years before that.
but it wasn't exactly the same footage, I pressume..
They didn't steal anything from this cartoon. "Fantasia" is an idea in itself", Walt Disney once said in an interview.
I was going to say, this certainly is reminiscent of one of Disney’s cartoons. The forest animals seen here look so much like those seen in Snow White, which of course was released just two years prior.
Furthermore, it’s good to see this copy has “Thus they gathered nature’s blue for the Danube’s glorious hue” in English (the other copy of this on UA-cam has it in German, and it’s really not a direct translation.) This is really neat, almost like a legend if you will, as to how the Danube River was formed.
One thing you have to remember, Harman & Ising (the pair that created this particular cartoon) used to work with Walt Disney prior to this cartoon being made.
I also found out that Walt Disney had contacted Harman & Ising to do several Silly Symphonies cartoon on Disney’s behalf. One of Silly Symphony cartoon, Merbabies was one of them.
So with this revelation, this made me wonder if MGM’s The Blue Danube cartoon may have been originally made for Disney as a Silly Symphony cartoon or a scrapped Fantasia segment that Disney didn’t think would work (watching this cartoon, and having watched Fantasia myself. I do see visual evidence of Blue Danube looking like something that might have been a scrapped Fantasia concept).
@@mdo7 Having just watched a documentary on the making of Fantasia, that idea seems completely plausible. Many segments were discarded in various stages of completion. Too bad we never got to see Fantasia outtakes!
Reminds animated film Fantasia and Fantasia 2000
it looks like a deleted fantasia scene
MEMORIES
TOON IN WITH ME brought me here. True to the spirit of Richard Strauss (and I have me Strausses straighht, trust me) plus one GODIV-like fairy, lots of BAMBI like critters, lots of WILLOW (but no Algernon Blackwood), and plenty of nude CHERUBIM.... All this can get you cancel cultured right away. Most memorable cartoon you'll ever see besides the CHURCH MICE/Atomic Bomb cartoon released at about the same time.
........with anatomically incorrect nudity, I have to add.
At least MeTV doesn't care much about Cancel Culture
¡Que belleza!
So niedlich.😍

Basically a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs animation, plagiarizing the idea that Disney already had in mind, when it came into animation history.
Mind you, this is like a mixture between a Disney Silly Symphony with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs visuals.
A non-Disney type property trying to be like Disney.
