Absolutely love my IC-R8600! Such an awesome search and pounce radio, see a weird signal and just jump on it to see what it is! Works very well with 9:1 UNUN and 90ft long wire at 8m above the ground oriented north south. Nice RTTY decode Clint!
Superb bit of kit the 8600 - you can also marry it up with different sdr software using the IQ out port (usb). Using sdr# for example its possible to have the radio demodule DMR and utilise multiple plugins.

Thank you! Cheers!
that's cool it can decode without a computer. I didnt know it could do that.
maybe do a video sometime of what all it can do. I had no idea.
Cheers Mike, yes it's a great rig - although expensive!!!!
I will if I can ever find the time. 73!

Furthermore, the icom remote control software ain't bad either - sdrplay almost as good 😂
Thanks for your comments. I'm using mine with SDR Console and it works perfectly...
Good to know!
@@OxfordShortwaveLog Yes, the added bonus of using SDR Console is being able to use 24 bit which I've not been able to in SDR#
What antennas you using?
Nice one Clint. Does the 8600 automatically set baud rate, shift etc. when it sees an RTTY signal?
No you have to set the baud rate - it works really well..
👍
