Legend! Thanks for the tip about bypassing the starter circuit. I have a weak starter issue. Thought it was the battery, put a new one in and it’s still the same. This will allow me to check if something else is the cause, before I spend more money on a starter.
Thank you so much this is the first video I seen to bypass the starter cut relay. I have 2nd brand new starter and have no crank no start and I am going to try this first thing in the am.
@@nighthawk0077 @trevsspot1 Exactly. If the engine starts using this hot wire method then you're ruling out the bad starter motor, meaning the starter motor is 100% not the cause.
where do u get that thing to start it czu this winter stormm jsust had killed battgery i thought got new but still wont start i need that thing u sued ?
Had similar problem... symptoms began with 08 CRV would crank slow like with a weak battery, a few times it would crank like the battery was dead. So, we knew the battery in car was over a few years old - we replaced it. Coincidentally, that seemed to fix the problem... and, the slow or no crank came back! OK, assuming all wiring is good it's either poor contacts in the ignition switch or the starter motor is going bad (which is a big job). We went next to the ignition switch (not the ignition assembly). Replaced switch, very easy, basically with a Phillips screwdriver. (This is a good thing to replace anyways because over time the contacts inside switch get burned and you will get voltage drop). Coincidentally, changing the switch fixed the problem... No! - A few tries later the slow or no cranking came back... we were now left with the starter motor. The only way to replace the starter motor is to remove the intake manifold. Understand this won't be a fast job... just take your time and take one thing at a time: disconnect battery, remove air intake, then throttle body and connected hoses... loosen the radiator, you need as much room as possible when you start to remove the intake manifold. Note: leave the portion with the fuel injection untouched. NOTE: also, there is a two-bolt bracket (12 or 13 mm) attached to the manifold underneath before you start pulling on it. You will need to do a lot of wiggling to slip out the manifold, you will have very little room... just take your time, don't get frustrated. (You may need to bend up a welded bracket up on top by the radiator. Just bend it back when you're done.) So... after replacing the starter motor, the car starts and cranks like new, fast. 1. New battery (500 CC, group 51) from Home Depot. $160. (We needed, anyways). 2. Ignition switch, from Napa Auto Parts. $70. (Good to replace, anyways). 3. Starter motor, new, from Napa Auto Parts. $200.
There is no reason to change the starter over the top of engine. Taking out intake manifold and all what you have described above. There is plenty of video how to change it from underneath the car. Do not waist the time and money for gaskets.
If you can jump start like my video, problem could be Relay, key switch or the neutral safety switch, move the shift up and down few times, if it starts that may be the problem, good luck
Hello all....I know video is a few years old..having trouble with my 08 c-rv i tought it was the starter, so i replace it and still it wont crank, i tried this method of jumping it but nothing happen..so my question...what could be wrong..If someone can help.. Thank ypu
So how do you fix the problem .? Is the starter relay.the main relay .I mean what will fix the problem for good ? instead of keep jumping it every time the car won't start have you figure it out yet ?..because in the old Hondas it was usually the main relay when the climate was hot. the main relay would not work so you will open the windows let the interior temperature cool down. And it would start that was a temporary fix .until you replace the main starter relay
yes, this is not a temporary fix, is for testing the starter motor conditions, so you don't have to spent half hour under your car to find out is any voltage going to the starter, or for emergency use, so you can go home.
I just recently installed a new starter to my 08 crv. After a couple of weeks when i turn the key it wont start but my second time it will start. Now it wont start at all what do u think the problem is.
Did you disconnect the battery before replacing the starter? If you didn't, you probably fried the internal components of the starter and will need to get a new one. Or you bought a refurbished starter which have tendencies of Failing within a couple months or weeks. A weak battery and or Alternator could also be the culprit, too many causes to determine
I replaced the start motor, but fond out the hard way like everybody, then I bought the service manual, found out the easy way to verify is the start motor or some thing else, so I just want to share it with every one have the car not starting.
@@twu42618 I don't understand... So in YOUR case it WAS the starter but had you known of this trick to verify it first it would have saved you time and frustration? Is this what you are saying?
my mechanic did this. and i have a emergency starting wire. but eventually i made a switch button in fog light switch in case car dont start again. cant seem to know where the problem still.
can it be ect? cause after a drive and engine is warm it wont start again. but the fan seems working fine. regarding the key switch, its working fine i guess, cause its causing clicking sound
Second starter is Not Honda quality. And the results are obvious. There is a reason Hondas last so long without issue, it’s because they are 100% original Honda equipment. ORM parts throughout. So if you want Honda durability use original. Same is not the same.
This is the short cut to test the start motor, so you don’t have to take the whole car apart to find out problems is not the starter motor, also for emergency you can start the car and go home, so you don’t need a toll truck. If the problem not the starter motor or the battery. You can check out the other UA-camrs how to test the starter motor. Thanks for watching.
This literally saved me I was broke down on side of road! You sir deserve a award

Best UA-cam video ever got my baby in tears
this video help me start my car after disconnecting battery for two weeks, now CRV starts with key. Thank you for posting this video.
Def helped me check if my starter was bad (it wasnt) hopefully when i replace the neutral safety switch, it will solve my issues
Sir,
Thank You for this Great bit of information on the Honda CRV. This kept me out of a jamb until I changed the starter. NICE WORK!
but this won't help if you have a faulty starter..
@@nighthawk0077 @trevsspot1 Exactly. If the engine starts using this hot wire method then you're ruling out the bad starter motor, meaning the starter motor is 100% not the cause.
Exactly. But if the trick starts the engine at least you can get home! (That was me)
The tool is called a Remote Starter Switch.
So which end of the wire did you connect the starter gun to. The end that went on to the fuse box or the end closet to the battery
where do u get that thing to start it czu this winter stormm jsust had killed battgery i thought got new but still wont start i need that thing u sued ?
So does this mean your starter is good? Or bad? What was wrong with the car not starting ?
Great video, bloody legend. Thank you
Hello, in my case i try thy bypass, and didn't start, what else can be?
Just seen this video, worked! 🎉 now I have to find the issue.
This is epic! Great video! Thank you so much!🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🎊 🎊

@MrBorysPBG bro for 08 accord I thought the only way was taking off intake
What do I get the little gun thing from
Wow dude, great tip. Thank you very much
Where do you get that device?

you can open the plug one handed and without tools if you press on the back of it with your thumb... unless its dirty or brittle!! thx

If car starts your starter motor is good.. with this remote start trick. If car does not start then it’s a bad starter motor right?
It’s the ignition switch needs to get replaced.
Dont need

Great tip,thanks
My car sometime start sometime don't I get screw driver contact negative solenoid to positive start motor wire that ok
did she start like in the video ?
THANKS MAN !
My GF car is doing the same thing already replaced the starter. I will try this method soon
try that, if start may be the starter relay or the key switch. if you have the remote start installed, that can eliminated the key switch.
