Using SolidWorks Weldments Features, see how easy it is to model up a Steel Storage Rack. Starting with a 3DSketch, adding some Structural Features,use some trimming and patterns, and then finishing it off with a Drawing.

Definitely, When you select on a view, in the property Manager you will see a button at the top to "Select Bodies", this will allow you to have a model view of one or more parts (similar to a display state). You can also use the tool Insert -> Drawing View -> "Relative to Model", this will place only the part selected, and allow the orientation of that part all in the same command. This might be a good next video. :)

Steve I talked with you I believe last week on this matter. Having solidworks show sheet metal/plate dimension on a cutlist. I don’t mind having the description show the information as the video above shows. Problem I notice was for pieces that are bent do not show up on the cutlist, anything that was a boss or extruded does. Plus running solidworks 2013 having 5 bent pieces and a few other pieces in a of plate in a weldment makes solidworks very unstable.

Hi nice work. Having trouble on how you get the dimension for the other two structures that you have mirrored. Im having trouble with the -2inches part will not work for me at all. Any help on this matter would be appreciated thanks

I have SW 2013 How long does it take to learn this program. I been watching all kinds of videos trying to figure it out Do I need to know autocad first before trying to learn solidworks?

There's no need to know an AUTOCAD SW to master Solidworks. It doesn't take much time if you make your self familiar with designing basics . Solidworks tool is so flexible than any other designing software available at the moment. Cheers.!!

Is it possible to create views of the cut pieces? For example the ends of the horizontal supports are cut at an angle. As a fabricator I would want to know what those where and how the cut list is showing the length measurement.

Why do people always use smart dimension? You can just click on the line and change the measurement

Nice demo. I suggest "not" using 3d sketches. You've already lost 90% of the viewers who don't use that advanced features. Also, welder's take note. This can do everything and more you shouldn't be asking just go try it out. Now you don't need an engineer or a cad drafter you can do it all yourself.
