- In 2004 six male teenage lions were pushed out of their pride by their fathers. They now had to fight for themselves but by sticking together they increased their survival chances. Their coalition would become known as the Mapogo clan.

Apparently there is a cartoon featuring the Mapogos! I've not seen it . But I dont think a animated version is the way to tell this story . They way to tell it is in living color so that people start to understand how corrupt thing are over there ,and how truely serious the fate of all lions is at stake ! There needs to be vet care for treatable injuries and poaching and canned hunts need to be stopped ! I dont think you can tell the real story in a animation ! Peace be safe !

It's unbelievable how close they are as brothers.
It’s not only humans who have a strong bond between eachother especially in a sibling perspective animals can have these relationships and possibly have it stronger than us humans :/
These Brothers will always be my favorite story to come out of lion prides.

I never knew that so many male lions can get along ?!?!? How is this even possible?
They are all brother except Mahkulu which is older, he's their half brother ( same father ).
Their end was because Master T was too cocky and with Kinky Taila they left the pride. Even if they were still close, this seperation ended them...because when another huge coalition ( 5 or 6 lions ) attacked Mr T and Kinky, even if they fought well, it was too much and they died. Then this coalition started to attack the other 4 brothers and finally killed them all after a few years except Mahkulu but he died alone, weak and old...probably by hyena.
If they stayed together, they would have easily killed the coalition....
They are brothers;Bonded by blood.

Nothing in the realms of biology is ever set in stone, there are always exceptions to the standard rules. Even so, I believe it's somewhat normal for young male bachelors to form coalitions like this. Don't quote me on that, but I think that's correct (I'm a Marine Biologist, not a big cat expert haha).
Why does looking into the eyes of a lion feel like looking into the eyes of a serial kiiler?

absolutely love filming lions. Many times I find myself sitting with them for hours with nothing happening but when something happens! it's always a pleasure filming!

the story about the mapogo lions is very cool. it's like game of thrones, vikings , mafia or the godfather. family vs family. i hope they make a movie out of it.

Yea mr T is like the antagonist of the story but he isn't quite the villain. He still loves his brothers but he just wants to be a leader but he's just not genetically fortunate as his big brother. So he leaves the pride to prove himself that he's capable as a leader and his brother Kinky tail is loyal to him so he goes with him but misters t's dreams quickly come to an end as his loyal younger brother Kinky tail gets killed by rival lions. So he comes back to his brothers in shame

6 very clever lions indeed I bet every animal in Africa was glad when these weren't around anymore but I could watch documentaries on these all day long without getting bored and the only reason that the 5 mapogo lions survived the 1st couple of years of their lives was because of Makulu I believe

Mr t suffered a tragic life due to his own reasons..he started the problem by challenging Makhulu as leader of the gang.. Makhulu avoided fighting Mr t seriously cos he loved all his adopted brothers. Mr t and Kinky broke away from the Makhulu and the rest. Sad thing is when Kinky was attacked by 4 members of another tribe, Mr t didn't really fight for Kinky..and left him dead..and he roared in sadness through the night...then he realized the mistake and when back to Makhulu and Pretty Boy for protection.. Makhulu even though felt bad being challenged earlier accepted for the sake of brotherhood...same to PB. Instead Mr t killed the curbs of these mapogos behind the back..so when the Selatis gang came to maul and kill him.. Makhulu and PB was nowhere present..is it a strategic move by Makhulu...think so.
Cuz T was darted by rangers...Your story's all wrong you should go ahead and delete this comment before you confuse people who dont know the whole story....Mak and PB didnt leave T to die on his own lol.. PB had been seriously injured in a fight 24 hrs prior to T being killed and Mak was past his prime...

When they had just hunted and killed the jing alpha a couple hours earlier and knew there were more intruders in their area??? When T shows up how come he’s not that aggressive T that charged 4 selatis on his own???? All off balance and just look at his eyes they are dazed and confused. Can somebody please enlighten me? In this video, they were introduced as Makhulu, Mr.T, Kinky Tail, Pretty Boy, Skew Spine /Scarred Man, & Rasta/Dreadlocks. I know this is their real names but it seems like in other videos and also in google, Rasta and Dreadlocks were two different Lions. I really love these lions and I am researching a lot about them.
Just search the name of coalition in order for you to identify the name of particular lion. You can start by these coalition, Mapogo, Notch, Matimba, Avoca, Majingalane, Salatis

Why do some videos state that Rasta and Dreadlocks are the same, and some state they are different lions? Which is it? And if so what is the 6th lions name?
Rob (from the Rob the Ranger UA-cam channel)), who helped name all the Mapogos said as a response to a comment on one of his videos, which I sadly can't find now, that this documentary got it wrong. The Mapogos are: Makhulu, Pretty Boy, Rasta, Dreadlocks, Kinky Tail, and Mr. T. There never was a Scar in the Mapogos and Rasta and Dreadlocks are two different lions.

At the time of 2009/10 all 5 mapogos were together and they can easily take down 4 majingaline, no one know where makhulu, Rasta, dreadlock and pretty boy disappeared ,how they died, Mapogos were killed by rangers because they all were almost 10 or above 10 years at the time of 2010/11, almost end of their prime time, and majingaline were 5 years old at that time, future investments of Kruger park 😎
